It doesn't feel like a traditional VPN that needs a lot of setup and maintenance. Things are clean and straightforward. The user management is very simple. Adding users, assigning access, and removing users can be done quickly without confusion. This is very useful when teams change or grow. I also like the modern zero-trust approach. Users only get access to what they actually need, not the entire network. This feels safer and more controlled. From a backend and infra perspective, NordLayer works well for protecting internal tools, dashboards, and services without exposing them to the public internet. The dashboard is clean and easy to understand. Even non-networking people can understand what is going on, which reduces dependency on a single expert. Another strong point is stable performance. Connections feel reliable and fast, even when many users are connected. **What do you dislike about NordLayer?** One downside is that advanced configuration options are limited. Very frequently we would run into issues where these employees would get locked out of programs and out of systems due to it being thought of as a threat. You set it up and basically forget it. I like that it then allows us to limit our software to the NordLayer IP address for increased security. **What do you dislike about NordLayer?** Certain websites, such as my banking website, do not like NordLayer and will not connect. It seems that they interpret our IP (in a different US state) as being too far away geographically, so it triggers a security issue. **What problems is NordLayer solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use NordLayer to solve the problem of setting up a VPN. Until now, all coworkers that use it were able to install and start using the software with little help. I also like that the app just opens a bar on the right side of the screen instead of being another 'full size' app on my taskbar. **What do you dislike about NordLayer?** Even when closed, the background service blocks some network ports you might want to use. So in this case, you'll have to close down the running service when the software is already closed. **What problems is NordLayer solving and how is that benefiting you?** When working from home we previously used our router's VPN which worked fine but would slow down our network significantly when many people worked from home. With features such as fastest server connect, encrypted network and no history saved are some of the best features I like in Nord. It also comes with double VPN mode which is encrypting the network twice which provides an extra layer of safety.
