What do you like best about nopCommerce?

This is a great tool providing efficient services. Customization of the products and organization and tracking of data is not a tough game now. It is a robust and well supported tool for both sales personals, for IT personal and for marketing purpose too. There should be some updates about reporting and also they should serve more community templates. It is much customized in terms of plug-ins, they offer many plug-in themes. It is very much trustworthy about its pricing, there is no hidden fee no monthly fee no extra charges. I can easily setup my website by using NopCommerce and put my products there. It always finds the right customer automatically, without any distance issues. It is a very simple Microsoft and NET integrated software, so no need to worry about any complexity of JIRA and PHP. Because it is NET based so it has simplest frame work in terms of architectural perspective for example it has incorporated Entity framework code, domian driven architecture, uni testing. What do you like best about nopCommerce?

nopCommerce is the best open-source platform. If you want to create an eCommerce store, you can set up within a few minutes using nopCommerce. Apart from this best architecture ever I've seen in .net technologies. If you working with nopCommerce, believe me, you'll learn many many many things which you never did with .net technologies. Plugable architecture is an awesome feature of nopCommerce, using this you can extend your store functionality without touch core code. I'm enjoying nopCommerce since 2014 and this will never end. What do you like best about nopCommerce?

nopCommerce is open source so everyone can customize it any way they want. The development team is active on GitHub and replies to questions and issues.

By default it pretty much everything someone will ever need and since the development team is pretty active it will remain a good choice for a long time.

Relatively recently they embraced Linux so that helped lower hosting and administration costs.

The Interface is nice and modern but the administration area can be a bit too much for inexperienced users, however there's the option to disable some stuff and make it easier for those users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about nopCommerce?

Technology stack requires developers that are familiar with .Net, etc to properly work on it.

It seems to be a bit heavier than alternatives.

Low tier (shared) hosting won't be enough, VPS or Managed solutions are recommended.

In the past it wasn't as easy to quickly change some things in the code, although this has probably changed by now.

Compared to PHP eCommerce carts the barrier to entry is higher and the developers are more expensive but not terribly so.

The default theme looks and feels a bit old at this point but no one really those so it doesn't really matter. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

If you want to go down the Microsoft path then it's probably the best solution on the market right now. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is nopCommerce solving and how is that benefiting you?

If one doesn't require extensive customization it's a good solution as it comes with everything one might need right out of the box.

Too many customization required & difficult to managed when the traffic surges. Even though we deployed NopCommerce on Rackspace Cloud. We were still facing outages everytime when there was a collection launch which leads to heavy traffic surges. We were paying hefty in terms of our server infrastructure while being on NopCommerce. My suggestion would be to evaluate other platforms as well before making a final discussion. List down the problem areas that you are trying to resolve & evaluate them by taking a detailed demo of the platform. This would help you identify if NopCommerce is the right fit for you. I always compare Pro's and Con's of every platform. Specifically, I focus more on comparing the Con's of every platform to find out which platform would become more problematic when we scale the business. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We were running a Retail Brand E-Commerce store on NopCommerce. It helped us to identify the challenges that we were facing in our business in order to scale. The only thing that I feel this platform lacks is the reporting side. We always had to create custom reports because the default ones were really really basic. The ease of use for the end user is the greatest asset for the application. The availability of themes and application extensions both free and paid are amazing. I love the fact that there a free version.
