The thing I like best about NextStep is that it is online. NextStep custom built the application with our forms so that it has everything we are required to have. Customer service has been less than ideal. The reporting and billing features also do not work as promised. The EMAR that we paid for took a couple of years for them to build for it to be functional and is still not 100%. The reports feature that we were promised does not build all the different types of reports that we requested. The program is extremely slow to load and freezes often. The only benefit is that our charts are online and can be accessed across facilities. It is convenient that multiple users at different locations can work on it, but this would be true of most EHRs. I have worked with this kind of software before and I love how easy it is. I think that the thing that I like the most about next step is how everything is electronically. I like how even when something is not done electronically, it can be scanned and uploaded to NextStep. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. While I see the benefit in this, I would like for things to save BEFORE it times out. Sometimes files that I am working on time out while I am on lunch and then when I come back, all of my hard work is gone. I would like an automatic save option. I am doing the work of assessing substance abuse issues and diagnosing clients with substance abuse disorders. I see the benefits of NextStep through the DSM-V section in the main menu.
