## Nextcloud Reviews
  ### 1. Empowering Privacy with Seamless Sync and Flexibility

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** ilyass a. | software developer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

What I like most about Nextcloud is the freedom and control it provides. It really feels like it works for me, not the other way around. My favorite aspect is knowing that my data is mine, and I can decide where it is stored, who can access it, and how. This was a huge change for me after using bigger cloud platforms. There's a sense of trust and peace with this. I also like how flexible Nextcloud is. Over time, I didn't just use it for storage; I used it for contacts, file sharing, and collaboration. I appreciate how reliable it is day to day. Once it's set up, it just runs simply. Additionally, I like the community and the open-source spirit behind Nextcloud.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

The main challenge is the initial setup, especially for new users, as it can be a bit technical if you don't have experience with Linux or similar systems. Also, performance on weaker servers isn't great, with certain features like file preview and live document editing feeling slow. While once properly configured, it's fine, performance heavily depends on having a powerful PC. The interface could be more polished in some areas. Also, some apps in Nextcloud are not uniformly updated or well-documented; some are excellent, while others need more work.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Nextcloud solves problems like data ownership, privacy, and synchronization across devices. It gives me control over where my files are stored and keeps them in sync without manual management. It smooths sharing files and document editing, ensuring simple permissions and reliable collaboration.

  ### 2. Secure and Reliable for Document Management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yash C. | Filled operator , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2026

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

I use Nextcloud to manage documents securely, collaborate with others, and access files anytime from multiple devices. I like Nextcloud's privacy, secure file sharing, and easy-to-use interface. It works smoothly across devices and keeps files well organized. These features help me keep my data secure, share files safely, and manage everything easily without technical difficulty, which makes Nextcloud very practical and trustworthy for daily use. I also enjoy using it with common productivity tools and accessing it via web and mobile apps for easy file management and syncing.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

The setup process could be simpler for beginners and performance depends on server configuration. Better onboarding, clearer in-app guidance, and improved performance consistency would further enhance usability.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Nextcloud to manage documents securely, collaborate with others, and access files anytime from multiple devices. It solves file storage, backup, and collaboration issues by providing a secure and reliable platform.

  ### 3. Complete Data Ownership, Privacy, and Powerful File Sync & Sharing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

The best thing I like about this platform is that it gives me complete data ownership and privacy, and provides greater transparency into my data security. Their strong file sync and sharing capabilities are very effective. This platform is also synced with an active open source community and hence with a large app ecosystem.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

Their initial setup is a bit difficult on the self-hosting part. Their performance depends mostly on server configuration. Even though their UI is clean, but still less polished than compared to Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me solve the problem of depending on a third party public cloud providers. It helps me to maintain centralised file storage, sharing and collaboration tools. Enabling the remote teams to collaborate without sacrificing the control feature is very effective.

  ### 4. Free Cloud Service Makes Local Cloud Setup Easy

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aditya C. | Developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

The best thing about it is the free cloud service, which helps us set up a local cloud.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

The main thing I dislike is that it can have performance and speed issues if the server isn’t capable enough.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Nextcloud addresses data ownership and privacy by giving me full control over where my data is stored and how it’s managed, rather than forcing me to rely on third-party cloud providers. It combines file storage, collaboration, and communication tools in a single secure, open-source platform, which reduces my dependence on multiple separate services and helps me avoid vendor lock-in. For me, this means my data stays private, security and compliance are easier to maintain, and I get a flexible, cost-effective solution that I can trust and tailor to my needs.

  ### 5. An Excellent Open-Source Solution for Team Productivity

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Argenis P. | Consultor Senior de Sostenibilidad, Consulting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2025

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

What I appreciate most about Nextcloud is the control and transparency it gives over data. Unlike many cloud providers, it allows full ownership of files while offering the same smooth collaboration features—file sharing, calendar, chat, and video meetings—all in one platform. Its open-source nature makes it highly customizable and secure, and the integration with on-premise storage is seamless. It’s a perfect solution for organizations that value privacy and digital sovereignty.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

Although Nextcloud is an excellent platform, its initial setup and configuration can be a bit complex for non-technical users. Performance may vary depending on the server environment, and updates sometimes require manual attention to avoid compatibility issues with plugins. The mobile app experience could also be more polished, especially in terms of syncing speed and notifications.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Nextcloud has helped me centralize all project documentation, energy reports, and client data in one secure environment. Working in energy consulting across multiple locations, I needed a platform that ensures full data privacy while allowing smooth collaboration with engineers and clients. With Nextcloud, I can easily share large files, manage revisions, and maintain version control without depending on external cloud providers. It has significantly improved workflow efficiency and data protection within our sustainability projects.

  ### 6. All-in-One Platform That Streamlines Collaboration and File Sharing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nikunj K. | Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

This is an all-in-one platform that truly brings everything together. It offers all the features you might need, including file sharing and collaboration.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

The on-premise version is somewhat tedious to install and configure. It would be much better if the process were automated and could be completed with a single click. Additionally, it tends to use a lot of memory.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

File delivery and collaboration within the company have been much smoother since I replaced the previous system with my own FTP server. This change has proven to be very helpful.

  ### 7. Efficient and Secure Cloud Storage for Seamless Collaboration

**Reviewed by:** Prince C. | Quality Control Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

What I dislike about Nextcloud is that the initial setup can be a bit tricky, especially for beginners. It also tends to consume a lot of resources, and sometimes syncing large files can take longer than expected.

Nextcloud solves the problem of needing a secure, private cloud storage solution. It helps me store, share, and access my files from any device while ensuring my data stays private and under my control.
