What do you like best about Nexis®?

It is a legal research database that contains a moderate amount of news sources, as well as case law, statutes, and regulatory materials which is very helpful and needed in any due diligence process. In our organization, it helps us find case law and statutes quickly and easily. Additionally, It also offers several other features that can be helpful for legal research and cant act as a searchable database of news sources that help find information about a particular case or for identifying trends in the law. What do you dislike about Nexis®?

The only one downside I can think of is that the database can be difficult to navigate for a beginner, since it's costly you do not want an inexperienced user just using it freely. It can be hard to find what you're looking for, and the search engine is not always accurate and contains a lot of false reports which need to filter out. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Nexis® solving and how is that benefiting you?

It is used as a web-based platform that helps researchers and legal professionals in our organization quickly access a wealth of news and information with features of eliminating false results. It also offers a variety of different products, but its most popular service is its news database which includes approximately 33,000 publications from over 190 countries in multiple languages which is very helpful when researching in multiple jurisdictions. The absolute best upside is that it's a comprehensive service and includes a wide range of sources, which means that it is a great resource for finding reliable information. What do you like best about Nexis®?

Nexis allowed my team to access a significant number of sources, including some that would otherwise be subscriptions. We could also do historical research on a topic or location that spanned a long period of time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nexis®?

The platform was, unfortunately, a bit more difficult for all team members to use, as they had varying proficiencies with the boolean search format. Without a good understanding of that, it was not always easy to generate results that were fit for purpose. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Nexis®:

I would recommend Nexis with caveats: it is wonderful for historical research of multiple media sources. However, there are better, easier-to-use tools if your organization also requires real-time monitoring of news events to gather and disseminate information as quickly as possible. What problems is Nexis® solving and how is that benefiting you?

We no longer use Nexis, but when we did, we were trying to promptly gather as much data on a subject and location as we could. As with other databases, Nexis retrieves only results related to the search terms. Take time to learn how to apply limits to make your searches more precise. What problems is Nexis® solving and how is that benefiting you?

I worked at a federal government agency that awards regional businesses every year. Nexis is useful in finding negative articles about dubious activities within a business (e.g., scandals involving pension plans, personnel under investigation for possible crimes). The other research librarians and I were able to compile bibliographies of news articles and to print out the full-text articles; after that, we submitted results to the agency that awards the businesses. The agency was then able to evaluate whether the nominated businesses were truly ethical and worthy of receiving the award. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Lexis Nexis"

What do you like best about Nexis®?

I love Lexis Nexis. It is a great legal researching online tool that allows users to access thousands of cases, statutes, academic commentaries, books, articles, reviews, and the list goes on. I have used Lexis Nexis for university and for work. It is an amazing tool as it provides users with a diverse array of materials, most of which the user will never have even known. It has provided me with cases and commentaries which have completely reshaped my thesis and arguments. The beauty of it is that its search engine not only searches specifically for what you typed, but it also provides you with all relevant materials if you so wish for it to do so, otherwise you can simply limit your search to specifically what you typed. This flexibility is amazing as it lets you feel as if you are in a library. Another great benefit is that, if you dont know specifically what to search for, it helps you narrow down what you are looking for by using filters such as specific legal practice areas, and specific issues within specific types of law. What do you dislike about Nexis®?

I cant say I dislike much about Lexis Nexis, but one thing may be that the search engine can give you 'too' wide an array of materials than what you desired, and this will make your job take much longer. Recommendations to others considering Nexis®:

I would advise all others working or studying in the legal industry to try out and use Lexis Nexis. It really modernises the legal industry by making the most up to date cases which cover highly topical issues accessible to all users as soon as they are delivered. As a student, or academic, or practisioner, this provides you with a perfect tool to either advise you clients or write your thesis' with unique and up to date materials. What problems is Nexis® solving and how is that benefiting you?

Lexis Nexis helps users with the modernity problem of access to information. Today, not everyone has access to libraries, and even the public ones often lack the practice-based resources that Lexis Nexis has to offer. Thus, the job of Lexis Nexis is essentially to offer users with a database, much like an online library, full of a wide array of legal resources such as cases and case judgments and case reviews and academic articles. This is the benefit I have realised. I can actually access the most modern case judgments available before they have even been printed into books or legal magazines as Lexis Nexis makes them accessible online. What do you like best about Nexis®?

Lexis Nexis is super easy to use. Its a no brainer almost. I love that new windows will populate for certain searches because i like to continue my search and keep that extra window open on the side to view. What do you dislike about Nexis®?

I'm not sure I have and dislikes... oh! yes i do! but its nothing major. I hate that it logs me out when i leave it idle for a period of time.I use this during an 8 hour shift and everytime i find myself needing to access this resource, i have to log back in. "Practice Advisor is Worth It"

What do you like best about Nexis®?

For research, Westlaw beats Lexis. However, Westlaw's Practical Law is not nearly as good as Practice Advisor. Better form bank in Practice Advisor and access to secondary sources. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Everything at your fingertips...if you know how to look"

What do you like best about Nexis®?

The entire public domain is accessible with Nexis. We use a custom solution LNDP for our needs. The strongest feature is that you only need two or three pieces of information to find someone Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nexis®?

They have made the interface worse; for example, I used to search a contact and it would display the results in a chart with information about company in the margins. Now i have to click each entry to see where they work. I attempted to explain this to the it developers but no one did anything. What do you like best about Nexis®?

I love how easy LexisNexis is to use! It's very user-friendly and I've been able to pick up and use it without any help from outside sources. "LexisNexis Research good for the seasoned searcher"

What do you like best about Nexis®?

This is the old school way to search for cases (if you are not interested in going to the actual books). Law school courses were taught specifically on how to best tailor searches on this product. What do you dislike about Nexis®?

Searches take a lot of effort and can be laborious. As I stated above, entire courses were devoted on how best to tailor searches. This means that it's not easy to use for a first-time user. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Nexis®:

I prefer Lexis Advance. Lexis Research was great when we didn't have easier search options for case law. However, now that Lexis Advance has come around I prefer that outlet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It would be better if I can just log into my school account on this website instead of logging to WSU library first and searching for the article I need because sometimes I find the articles that I need via Google and it brings me directly to LexiNexis. It's a very helpful platform for searching for academic literature. If you are also a student, you can use it for free through your school library website.
