PolicyPak, now part of Netwrix, is a modern desktop management platform for the "anywhere" workforce. PolicyPak provides a powerful policy creation, management, and deployment framework that extends the policy management, security, automation, and reporting capabilities found within Windows Active Directory, Unified Endpoint Management solutions, MDM providers, virtualization platforms, and cloud services. PolicyPak comes with Paks, each with its own set of customizable policies that enable IT and teams to solve today's most significant desktop management challenges like remote work, Windows endpoint management, GPO sprawl, ransomware, Group Policy management, and more. PolicyPak lowers IT costs, increases security, improves compliance, reduces GPOs, and puts the IT admin back in charge. Primary use cases include reducing local administrator rights without breaking approved applications, consolidating Group Policy Objects to reduce sprawl, deploying policy to non-domain-joined and remote machines through the cloud or MDM, and cutting down on end-user support tickets tied to UAC prompts, browser mismatches, and file-association errors. Main capabilities include: - Local admin least-privilege management: removes unnecessary local administrator rights from standard users and sets up secure elevation rules so users can bypass UAC prompts for approved tasks without full admin access. - Ransomware and Shadow IT prevention: uses file-owner-based allowlisting to block untrusted scripts and applications, removing the overhead of maintaining manual exception lists. - Application, browser, and file management: enforces application settings, Java security rules, and browser routing so specific sites open in specific browsers, and controls default file associations across managed devices. - GPO consolidation and flexible deployment: merges redundant Group Policy settings to reduce GPO sprawl and speeds up login times, with delivery options through traditional Group Policy (GPMC), MDM/UEM platforms like Microsoft Intune and SCCM, or PolicyPak Cloud for devices outside the domain. - Software deployment and removal: automates the installation, patching, and removal of applications delivered through Windows, WinGet, and web-based sources. - Device and peripheral control: manages removable device access, including USB and other peripherals, to reduce data loss and malware risk. PolicyPak is used primarily by endpoint security teams, IT administrators, and desktop engineering teams across organizations of varying sizes, including government agencies, healthcare systems, financial institutions, and higher education. It's licensed by the number of endpoints and VDI connections it's actively managing, and integrates with Active Directory, Microsoft Endpoint Manager (SCCM and Intune), and virtualization/VDI environments such as Citrix and VMware, allowing organizations to apply policy controls to devices traditional Group Policy alone cannot reach.

As an MSP we are supporting a large variety of customer environments and requirements. Our requirement has been to be able to manage policy settings centrally across these different environments, at price that is palatable to the SMB market. PolicyPak Cloud has made this so easy. From developing a baseline policy to tailoring for each customer, it's hard to imagine how it could have been easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"PolicyPak makes transitioning to the Cloud simple."

5/5

What do you like best about PolicyPak?

I really like the merge utility and can't wait for to include all coming features. It made exporting my GPOs simple and easy as we transition to the cloud. I started using PolicyPak for the least privilege manager and then Covid happened. We needed a way to update GPOs non-domain joined machines and this works perfectly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PolicyPak?

I wish I could make folders in the cloud XML section. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering PolicyPak:

Easy way to simplify GP management. Cloud version is the way to go. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PolicyPak solving and how is that benefiting you?

Pushing GPOs to non-domain joined machines in using the Cloud version. Limiting user rights. Security Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Group Policy The Right Way"

5/5

What do you like best about PolicyPak?

The ability to take any GP setting and add Item-Level Targeting is fantastic. That coupled with the other features like Browser Router and Least Privilege Manager allow you to take GP to the next level. I have been a GP admin for almost 20 years and this product gives so many of the options and features that GP has been missing.

Another impressive part of PolicyPak is that from the first sales call, the CEO/Founder was available to hop-on-a-call with me to discuss not only the current features, but what features are upcoming and what we might like to see moving forward. Any company where the CEO takes a personal interest in clients is virtually unheard of. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PolicyPak?

It can seem pricey when evaluating, but once you realise that one of the features somewhere else can cost nearly the same as the entire suite from PolicyPak the numbers start to make more sense. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering PolicyPak:

Watch the videos, check out their online support library, and call sales to get the trial. PolicyPak is willing to work with you through the entire process to make your experience the best possible outcome. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PolicyPak solving and how is that benefiting you?

We replaced our previous LPM product with PolicyPak, the conversion of all our policies took about 3 days. We are starting to use Browser Router instead of MSIE Enterprise Mode. We will also be looking at the Java manager and various other features in the coming months. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Solid product worth the cost of implementation"

5/5

What do you like best about PolicyPak?

Policypak offers a software whitelist option which helps us to answer the Windows 10 question of 'what to do with the Microsoft Store' issue. This alone was a major point for my company.

Much of what is done in Policypak can be done through native Group Policy, however it would take consistent staff, training, manpower and trial & error to make this happen as well as a lot of doing to make some of the things PolicyPak does naturally in order to work. Policypak gives you a very nice GUI based product that is simple, the management is where it shines - often using Item Level Targeting (ILT) in creative ways that are not available in native Group Policy. It's worked magic in the sense that it can rework group policy to an almost new-like product. A product much easier to work with, you spend your time coming up with meaningful policies and where to apply them instead of just figuring out how to make those policies actually work and apply as they are supposed to. I want to re-iterate here, crossing over computer/user policies is very much a thing in PolicyPak and yes you can do those things in native GP often, it can take hours to make a policy work properly to do that, where it takes minutes and is very straightforward in PolicyPak.

Boiling down group policy into gui-driven simplicity greatly simplifies the building, testing, and management of group policies. Team up with AGPM and it becomes a great powerhouse.

It is often updated. A lot, every 1-2 weeks or so. And it would be best to keep up to date.

I've taken the GP Master class which delves into Group Policy, and PolicyPak and appreciate the product a little more after taking the class. As a new AD Administrator I was on the right track, but avoided even having to learn painful things because PolicyPak's administration is so much simpler. It would be difficult and incredibly painful to administrate our company as a single admin with hands-on without the product and I've come to appreciate that.

\*Trainings - The PolicyPak people are consistently releasing webinars/videos, and they are available for a signup on a weekly basis. They are largely the same ones, but they will get you started. Some things you will have to ask, or check the fleshed out forumn or knowledge base which is available to customers and a wealth of resources. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PolicyPak?

There are a few downsides.

\*A bit expensive - There was an offer to discount if you pre-paid for 3 years, your going to want to pre-ay for the 3 years if it's an option. But you certainly do get what you pay for. It's well developed, the staff are responsible and it's continually evolving. Jeremy, the founder often will jump in himself on support with help/suggestions/etc.

\*Not a perpetual license - will stop working if you stop paying for it. Not particularly fond of this model, though maintenance isn't as bad as license purchase it's definitely an investment in the initial purchase.I'm not afraid to be candid in reviews, and I think PolicyPak has been worth the investment.

\*Must re-license after OU changes - Not a huge downfall, but any time you change/add/move a OU that you want PolicyPak to be applied to then you need to run the tools to pull from your AD again and email it in to receive a new license to apply. This is free, and the staff is very responsive, but it is an extra step.

\*Still no 'real' answer to Windows 10 Start Menu failure. - This is so much easier to administrate via PolicyPak that it's silly. However it is still limited to Windows, which you can make a 'perfect' start menu, or apply different settings across different OU's, but it's either 'on' or 'off' just like Microsoft's processes. That means the start menu either gets hammered to those settings without bringing over new user's changes, or it's left off. This is how it works by design via Microsoft. The startmenu layout is awful to work with naively in Win10, PolicyPak makes it something that is easy and simple. I believe they are working on a solution to this and I'm hopeful something will come out. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering PolicyPak:

Consider for administration sanity of Group Policy, also great for junior members. Reduces administrative overhead of GP management significantly. Good for very large orgs, but also great for small orgs where Administrators simply don't have the time or resources to spend on group policy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PolicyPak solving and how is that benefiting you?

\*A managed approach to the Microsoft Store.

\*A managed approach to a software whitelist, allowing elevation of non-admin users to install software or run certain .exe's with admin rights without granting the rights.

\*A simplification of group policy intended for junior members that do not have any real introduction to group policy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A game changer for security and legacy apps"

5/5

What do you like best about PolicyPak?

PolicyPak is always rolling out new and helpful features while properly supporting existing ones. Their Least Privilege Module is amazing from a security standpoint. Being able to selectively elevate certain applications whilst blocking untrusted apps has made removing admin rights from all windows users possible and pain-free. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PolicyPak?

The renewal process can be a bit tedious. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PolicyPak solving and how is that benefiting you?

We're enforcing browser selection on a per domain basis. Only pages that require IE are opened in IE, all other pages are routed to the browser of our choice.

Users are able to run without admin rights, whilst selectively elevating legacy apps that need it. Untrusted apps won't run unless we allow them to, which has enormously increased security. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Ease of Use"

4.5/5

What do you like best about PolicyPak?

Enables easy management of previously unmanaged applications, easy upgrade of Policy Pak's via 3 party update tools enabling reporting for compliance. There are plenty of training materials available including a complete boot camp, that is free of charge and very well presented. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PolicyPak?

Company not implementing recommended features, Implementation of the rights management features would be a tremendous asset to the company in my opinion, however being a large organization, we have multiple tools in place for various functions. The frequency of the updates also raise pause. Is this really necessary? Couldn't the updates be quarterly? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering PolicyPak:

Solid Product that is a value for security related concerns with solid solutions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PolicyPak solving and how is that benefiting you?

Firefox settings were the reason we initially invested in PolicyPak , PolicyPak Application Management on non system owned products is well worth the investment in this product. We are also using PolicyPak for some offshore DNS requirements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"PolicyPak Thoughts"

4.5/5

What do you like best about PolicyPak?

Easy to install and use. Great for elevating rights for single applications or single portions of control panel. Support is great - quick turn-around time. Basically it fills in all of the gaps that Windows -should've- had. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PolicyPak?

Nothing really. Easy to install and support is great - so no real issues. Sometimes there is a complexity with trying to achieve something but support hasn't failed us yet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering PolicyPak:

Try it. For those people who find that Group Policy doesn't do enough...take a look and test it out. Fairly comprehensive and definitely makes it easier to manage machines. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PolicyPak solving and how is that benefiting you?
