It is designed for infrastructure administrators, change managers, and compliance teams who need to know not just that a file or setting changed, but whether that change was expected and safe. Every monitored system generates a constant stream of file and configuration changes: patches, scheduled jobs, approved updates, and occasionally, unauthorized activity. The difference between a routine patch cycle and a security incident often comes down to whether a team can spot the unexpected change quickly, confirm whether it was approved, and verify the rest of the environment is still compliant. Change Tracker is built around that distinction. Change Tracker baselines every monitored device, then continuously watches files, registry keys, services, ports, and accounts for change as it happens. Detected changes are reconciled automatically against approved work pulled from connected ITSM systems, so planned activity is closed out without generating noise, and only unplanned changes surface for review, each with the device, the setting that changed, and the timestamp attached. Key capabilities include: - Real-time file integrity monitoring. On Windows, a kernel minifilter driver registered with the Microsoft Filter Manager logs file I/O without locking files or modifying requests, and once live tracking is enabled, no server or agent restart is required. On Linux, Sysdig captures who made a change; AIX uses the native AIX Event Infrastructure. Files can be hashed using MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, or SHA-512. - Closed-loop change control. Change Tracker integrates with ITSM platforms including ServiceNow, BMC Remedy, Cherwell, ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus, Samanage, SunView ChangeGear, and OpenText SMAX to automatically match detected changes against approved change requests, reducing alert fatigue from routine, sanctioned work and surfacing only what genuinely needs review. - CIS-certified compliance reporting. Prebuilt benchmark templates map directly to frameworks including PCI DSS, HIPAA, SOX, NERC CIP, NIST, DISA STIG, and CMMC, giving teams continuous audit evidence rather than a once-a-year scramble to reconstruct configuration history. - Flexible deployment across mixed environments. Change Tracker supports both agent-based and agentless data collection across Windows, Linux, Unix, network devices, VMware ESXi, and major cloud platforms. The Gen 7 Agent runs with no dependencies on Windows, and the Express Agent is a single binary under 10 MB, built for legacy Unix systems and other resource-constrained platforms. - SIEM and downstream integration. Events forward via syslog to SIEM tools, and a direct Splunk integration pulls logs from custom applications or unsupported devices, turning them into tracked change events. It was very easy to setup and start using right away. The team is always willing to help with any issues we came across and answer any questions we have had. Another plus is a lot of services like changing a compliance report to meet our needs removing components we have covered by other means. **What do you dislike about Netwrix Change Tracker?** Not being able to run a report on a single device. I know you can generate a report after the scan is run but you still have to scan all device in a group first. It is difficult to find where to submit a support request on NNT's site I ended up having to email someone from NNT to show me how. **Recommendations to others considering Netwrix Change Tracker:** If you're looking for an easy to use NIST/CIS compliance change tracking tool NNT Change Tracker is it. **What problems is Netwrix Change Tracker solving and how is that benefiting you?** NIST/CIS compliance and then track changes after we set a baseline. ### 2. Don't feel like I'm just another account number, but they're open to investigate and work on integrations with other systems etc. **What do you dislike about Netwrix Change Tracker?** The coffee? Seriously though, there's nothing that I dislike **Recommendations to others considering Netwrix Change Tracker:** Change Tracker is not trying to be an all-inclusive "all things to everyone" solution (unlike another big name vendor in this space). Instead it's focused on change/config monitoring, doing it well and cost-effectively, and providing integration capabilities with other systems/vendors, e.g. change management/ticketing systems. This way the customer is able to select and create their own "fit for purpose" system using best of breed solutions. **What problems is Netwrix Change Tracker solving and how is that benefiting you?** Change monitoring for regulatory compliance. The problem was we weren't getting much response from our questions so started to look at alternatives. We came across NNT and, to be honest, haven't looked back. We've built up a good relationship over the years, and support has always been first rate. The really positive side is that whilst NNT have grown a lot since we started working everything still feels the same as it did all those years ago...very quick responses and still the same friendly people who were there at the start. Very happy with our decision. **What do you dislike about Netwrix Change Tracker?** Nothing to add here, as I said in the title it does what it says on the tin. It just works. **Recommendations to others considering Netwrix Change Tracker:** Just give them a call and you'll see what I mean. **What problems is Netwrix Change Tracker solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were looking at this for Pci reasons and it solved a whole host of our compliance issues from monitoring change and file integrity to helping with hardening of server software installs. It's made life much easier, we get a daily automated email with events and alerts for unexpected changes. ### 5.
