## NetBeans Reviews
  ### 1. NetBeans in a nutshell

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Damith L. | Software QA Lead, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2023

**What do you like best about NetBeans?**

I was using the NetBeans mainly for Java Swing-based user interface development. The UI component drag-and-drop feature made it so easy to design the UI interactively. And it was easy to wire down the action code by clicking the UI components.

**What do you dislike about NetBeans?**

When creating the interfaces, the layouts in the IDE were not supportive. It was not easy to use Netbeans for Web-based app development. The loading time of the IDe was somewhat frustrating as well.

**What problems is NetBeans solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Netbeans was the first IDE I used for Java swing application development. It was easy to debug the code and its very supportive to test the UI wireframe navigation even before the actual business logic implementation.

  ### 2. It is not the best IDE

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David C. | Analista programador, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 09, 2018

**What do you like best about NetBeans?**

It can be used for different programming languages. It is free. You can develop dynamic web applications. It has a large number of plugins that help you with the various tasks your project requires. If the code is written in Java (as is often my case), the program will run on any platform. Modules can be added and removed.

**What do you dislike about NetBeans?**

For me, the biggest disadvantage is that it's not Eclipse, which I'm used to with its shortcuts, interface, and configuration. I worked with NetBeans on a project for a year, and after working with it for a year, it didn't convince me because I don't see the ease that Eclipse has.

**Recommendations to others considering NetBeans:**

In companies, as a general rule, the choice of IDE for development is not the responsibility of the developer, but rather the choice of the company. For example, in my current company (INDRA) at my branch (Salamanca), no one uses NetBeans, everyone uses Eclipse. From my personal experience, NetBeans seems unintuitive to me, it doesn't offer anything new, and in the environment I work in, almost no one uses it, so if you have problems with it, you have fewer options for whom to ask.

**What problems is NetBeans solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Netbeans was used in a project that was done for the National Police because it was a requirement of the tender, so it solved the problem of meeting the tender requirements. I haven't found any benefit compared to other IDEs, for example, Eclipse.

  ### 3. Old Fashioned Java IDE

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2018

**What do you like best about NetBeans?**

This was one of my first Java IDEs and I liked it more than other C/C++ IDEs I had been used to before. I like how it's free and well maintained.

**What do you dislike about NetBeans?**

It's got a decent learning curve and is not very intuitive to pick up for a newbie. I'm not sure if it even supports Android Development.

**Recommendations to others considering NetBeans:**

There are other better IDEs out there and though this was one of the best of its day, it might not be as relevant anymore.

**What problems is NetBeans solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were looking at options for J2EE Development and this was one of the popular choices at the time so we went ahead with it. I liked the interface but it feels lacking in functionalities afforded by other modern IDEs.

  ### 4. NetBeans isn’t bad

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 22, 2018

**What do you like best about NetBeans?**

The IDE was easy to use for C++ and the interface was ok.

**What do you dislike about NetBeans?**

It is great for Maven but found other IDEs such as Eclipse and IntelliJ to work better

**Recommendations to others considering NetBeans:**

I would not recommend NetBeans as there are other IDEs with better out of the box solutions

**What problems is NetBeans solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have realized that it is useful to utilize the Spring framework into financial technology

  ### 5. Good option, although I prefer Eclipse

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 17, 2018

**What do you like best about NetBeans?**

Free
Many plugins
Easy to use
For beginners and professionals
Multiple programming languages

**What do you dislike about NetBeans?**

Nothing in particular. To say something, it doesn't offer anything new compared to Eclipse, which I think surpasses it.

**Recommendations to others considering NetBeans:**

Good option, but I prefer Eclipse.

**What problems is NetBeans solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used it for programming in Java and also with JSON. It helped us a lot in web and Android development.

  ### 6. The worst IDE I have use

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Javier G. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2018

**What do you like best about NetBeans?**

It has a lot of tools for java development.

**What do you dislike about NetBeans?**

The use intefaces is all fashion. It dificult to find the tools you want to use.

**What problems is NetBeans solving and how is that benefiting you?**

You can develope java software easier than using a text editor

  ### 7. I use in my college studies

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carlos H. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 07, 2018

**What do you like best about NetBeans?**

It's like use Eclipse, it is easy to remember.

**What do you dislike about NetBeans?**

It's is too slow and sometimes i hace to restart.

**What problems is NetBeans solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use for java development

  ### 8. Netbeans is clunky at best, will make you want to fling your laptop out the window at worst.

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2017

**What do you like best about NetBeans?**

I like that I don't have to deal with running everything separately, and that it's quite powerful. I also like the ability to change the display colors, but you can do that in pretty much any IDE. I honestly don't have a lot of positive things to say about it.

**What do you dislike about NetBeans?**

Eats my laptop's resources like candy. Tends to have buggy behavior. Can be painfully, mindnumbingly slow at times. It randomly will lock up, sometimes forgets which windows to have open by default, some of the plugins I used to use in other IDEs don't work the same, did I mention it totally eats my laptop's memory and also likes to hog the disc? It also made my last laptop overheat regularly. The UX design needs work, a lot of things aren't intuitive.

**Recommendations to others considering NetBeans:**

Use something else. Not a day goes by at work that I don't curse this program. However, it IS free, so there's that.

**What problems is NetBeans solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't really know if it solves any business problems. I use it for primarily front end development, so I suppose the problem it solves is getting our back end running for development purposes. Every dev at my company uses it, so we don't have much choice in the matter.

  ### 9. Old IDE

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Wireless | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2017

**What do you like best about NetBeans?**

drag and drop option to create UI is useful

**What do you dislike about NetBeans?**

the idea is very slow and needs improvement.

**What problems is NetBeans solving and how is that benefiting you?**

easy to use
