Management requires alot of administrative overhead,software upgrades are complicated, there is alot of wasted disk capacity in the disk groups/aggregates/volumes/LUNs architecture. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering NetApp E-Series:

Reveiw the administrative overhead and loss of storage capacity due to the storage architecture. There are other platforms that are much improved from this older model. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is NetApp E-Series solving and how is that benefiting you?

It is an enterprise storage platform that has been used for hosting application in a vritual machine environment. It has been used as primary storage, but at the moment it is more of a secondary storage because of poor performance and high management cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about NetApp E-Series?

Based on my business experience. NetApp E- Series is a product that is cutting edge and very fast. NetApp E-Series is basically a SAN product that is based on Fiberchannel Technology. What do you like best about NetApp E-Series?

We position the E series NetApp product to meet our CIFS, NFS, S3 file sharing needs. We manage it from the command line and ONTAP web interface. We are tiering by using SSD and SAS in disk infrastructure. The ONTAP web interface is adequate in terms of user experience and continues to evolve. The document system is comprehensive and it is easy to find answers and solutions to the sought-after issues. Singularization and compression ratios are very good. What do you dislike about NetApp E-Series?

Since the ONTAP web interface was developed later, it still has shortcomings compared to the command line. Requires command line management for advanced management features. As ONTAP continues to evolve, it will get better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about NetApp E-Series?

It is easy to setup and manage the system and has ability to add shelves for growth. I also like that it communicates with Netapp for issues and will notify you of an issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about NetApp E-Series?

I wish you had the ability to be able to set different Raid as it only sets up pools in Raid 6. I do normally use raid 6 but it would be nice to be able to have a choice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
