NEO is a world-class LMS for schools, launched in 2009 by CYPHER LEARNING, a company based in San Francisco that specializes in providing learning platforms for organizations around the world. CYPHER LEARNING provides a similar LMS for use by entrepreneurs called INDIE and an LMS for use by businesses called MATRIX. CYPHER LEARNING products are used by over 20,000 organizations, have millions of users, and have won several awards. What do you like best?

Ability for grading and rubrics that allow for students to have instant reports on performance. The ability to share assignments with colleagues and make resources easily available for students. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Searching for assignments and being able to narrow down the search more quickly. Currently, there is a need to search through numerous assignments, instead of being able to FILTER the results. The analytics are very limited, or seem to be, within our organization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Know what you are looking for in a system. NEO is great and user friendly, but some basic items that teachers want to have, may not be available on NEO. The system, in my opinion, is very similar to what Google Classroom can provide, with all the modifications that are not needed for most districts and classrooms. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Creating online learning platforms and discussions that are crucial during distance learning. Students are needing resources and they are easily made available through NEO. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Ability to create assignments and grade online Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Not being able to take attendance and create assignments with more content online. I use Googleclassroom for those assignments and have to use aeries for attendance Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

It's a functionable online gradebook that handles calculation pretty well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

What do you like best?

Overall I was very please with EDU2.0. I like the flexibility in the gradebook (using either individual grades or the grade all at once feature) and the ability to embed a wide array of work into the submissions. The quiz maker (although not initially intuitive) was easy to use. It was also useful to be able to view a student's site "as a student". I really liked the proficiency function, so students could see their progress on individual proficiencies. I also liked the shared rubric library. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I don't believe our school maximized the potential of this tool, because it did not interface with our SMS. That was a major reason we are leaving EDU2.0. I had a few beefs with this product. One is that rubrics were not able to be exported so students had to screen shot them if they wanted to use them in their portfolios. Also, if I commented back to a student that there work was not yet complete, it still demonstrated that the student had submitted and I had not idea if they had resubmitted after making changes unless I opened up each assignment. There should some sort of marker for resubmissions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
