You send out reminder to use the given points each month and that pushes people to just recognize each other be it warranted or not. If you have to prompt someone then what is the point? That makes it into a popularity contest, just willy nilly giving out props. However, would this be better used by upper management and supervisors as a tool to recognize the workers? Nectar is helpful for giving kudos with a coworker and share that same info with other teammates. Integrates with Slack for fitting into your workflow. And when others thank you individually, you can redeem that money for gift cards. If you haven't used your points in a given month, it reminds you to send a thank you and give them. It takes away from the authenticity of the thank you. Also tying points that are money to it feels like gratitude is being monetized.
