Annoying waste of time and money **Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2025 **What do you like best about Nectar?** It's straightforward to use, usually only requiring a few minutes a month of attention. **What do you dislike about Nectar?** I always feel a sense of dread when I receive the monthly email from Nectar reminding me to distribute points. The whole process is mostly irritating and a waste of time. It feels like everyone at the office is in on the joke, and the reason we all participate is because $25 a month is still $25, so it's worth spending the 10 to 15 minutes each month it takes to give out points. Scrolling through the feed, it's obvious that there's a flurry of activity at the end of the month when that e-mail goes out and the site isn't really used outside of that. It feels, in general, like an afterthought, and oddly enough, if it was more involved or time consuming, like I assume it is intended to be, it would be less a tolerable annoyance and an actual problem. On top of that, I've received emails from Nectar representatives at my work e-mail for reasons unrelated to support, which I find highly inappropriate. Honestly, the only reason I'm leaving this review is because they approached me, and I hope that sharing my negative experience might help others avoid adopting this kind of program. Turning all the worst aspects of social media into a way to recognize employee performance feels dystopian. It makes me feel like I'm in an episode of 'Silicon Valley' or a lab rat in a maze. **What problems is Nectar solving and how is that benefiting you?** Honestly, there’s nothing positive I can say about it. The only upside has been sharing jokes with coworkers about how absurd the whole thing is. I’ve even met people outside of work who use Nectar or similar products at their offices, and we can have a laugh about it. I guess some of my co-workers do like it, so I'm willing to participate if it benefits them. ### 2. Would rather employers just pay people a living wage or a wage that actually reflects the job responsibilities, but I guess this is late-stage capitalism.
