## About Navisworks
Autodesk Navisworks is a comprehensive project review and coordination software designed to enhance Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows. It enables construction and design teams to integrate, analyze, and visualize complex 3D models, facilitating improved project delivery and collaboration. Key Features and Functionality: - Model Integration: Combine design and construction data into a single, federated model, allowing for a holistic project view. - Clash Detection: Identify and resolve clashes and interferences before construction begins, reducing on-site issues and rework. - 4D and 5D Simulation: Animate and interact with model objects to simulate construction schedules (4D) and cost analysis (5D), aiding in project planning and management. - Quantification: Extract material quantities from 2D or 3D designs, facilitating accurate cost estimation and resource planning. - Collaboration Tools: Integrate with Autodesk Construction Cloud to keep project teams connected, enabling issue tracking and resolution within the model environment. Primary Value and User Solutions: Navisworks addresses the challenges of coordinating multidisciplinary design data by providing a unified platform for model aggregation and analysis. By detecting potential issues early through clash detection and simulation, it minimizes costly construction delays and rework. The software's integration capabilities enhance team collaboration, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned throughout the project lifecycle. Ultimately, Navisworks improves project predictability, efficiency, and overall quality.

## Navisworks Reviews
 ### 1. Makes Complex 3D Coordination and Clash Detection Surprisingly Manageable

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abinesh T. | BIM Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Navisworks?**

What I like most about Autodesk Navisworks is the way it pulls complex 3D models into a single place, so clash detection and coordination stay clear and highly visual. It makes the whole process feel surprisingly manageable, even when you’re working on large projects.

**What do you dislike about Navisworks?**

What I dislike about Autodesk Navisworks is that it can feel heavy and slow when working with large models. The interface also isn’t very intuitive for beginners, so there’s a bit of a learning curve. On top of that, some of the more advanced features are locked behind higher-tier versions, which can be limiting.

**What problems is Navisworks solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Autodesk Navisworks helps solve coordination and clash-detection challenges by bringing models from different disciplines together into a single federated view. For me, this means I can spot design conflicts early, cut down on costly rework on site, and keep collaboration between teams smoother, more organized, and easier to manage.

 ### 2. Great for Clash Detection, But Needs Smoother Workflow and Modern Interface

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arlette A. | Freelance Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2026

**What do you like best about Navisworks?**

What I like best about Navisworks is how effective it is for coordination and clash detection in multidisciplinary projects.
It allows you to combine multiple models (architectural, structural, MEP) into a single coordinated environment without heavy files.
The clash detection tools are very clear and practical, making it easy to identify, classify, and track conflicts (like MEP vs. structure or cable trays vs. plumbing).

**What do you dislike about Navisworks?**

It’s a review-only tool—you can’t fix clashes directly, so you always have to go back to Revit or another authoring software, which can slow down coordination.

Clash results management can become messy on large projects if naming conventions and rules aren’t well defined.

The interface feels outdated compared to newer Autodesk tools and isn’t very intuitive for new users.

**What problems is Navisworks solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can detect and document clashes early, reducing rework, RFIs, and construction delays.

It supports my role in QA/QC and coordination, allowing me to review models without modifying them.

I can clearly classify, prioritize, and explain issues using clash tests, viewpoints, and reports.

It improves collaboration by providing visual, easy-to-understand evidence of problems for designers and engineers.

 ### 3. Decent Model Viewer, But Navigation Needs Improvement

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Logan K. | VDC Technician , Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Navisworks?**

Navisworks is a decent tool for viewing models. One of its main advantages is the availability of a free version, which we rely on for our field team to access and review models.

**What do you dislike about Navisworks?**

What I find frustrating about Navisworks is its navigation system. I find it quite difficult to get used to how navigation works in Navisworks.

**What problems is Navisworks solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One advantage of Navisworks is the free service it offers, which allows our field team to download and use the software. This feature has been valuable in bridging the gap between our field and office teams.
