"I have used Naviance to write college recommendations for students "

What do you like best?

I like how you can upload and submit to all the colleges at once. I like how the students only need to send once and it reminds me by sending me an email. I like how all the students who have requested a letter from you are on one list in the same spot.

What do you dislike?

I don't like all the buttons you have to push to upload one recc for one student. I think the procress is a bit long to get to the web page where you actually upload the letter. I also don't like that it does not alert nor remind you that a student

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are using this process for educational purposes. I have realized that it is very useful for organizational purposes.

"Great for managing college applications!"

What do you like best?

I like that Naviance is a cooperative platform where students, teachers and colleges can collaborate around college applications. I love the eDocs feature most, as well as the college list-building and research tool. The scatter plots for predicted college acceptance is also helpful.

What do you dislike?

Naviance has an unattractive user interface, which is not appealing to look at. I wish the student-facing side were more visually appealing and had more options for administrators to add more easily.

Get eDocs.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am able to collaborate with students, teachers, and colleges through the app. It helps eliminate multiple methods of information exchange, because everything can be sent through the platform. It makes student advising much easier.

"Naviance Revolutionized Our School Community"

What do you like best?

Naviance has changed the way I do my job. It is incredible how everything is packaged into one program. The students love using it and are amazed at what the program can do. The program has brought a whole new level of knowledge and information to the students.

What do you dislike?

I have a pretty positive attitude towards Naviance. There are a couple of downsides to the program. I believe that the program is quite expensive. It has some great add on features, however quite pricey. Another downfall is that not all colleges or universities accept electronic documents. Which then in turn makes the process archaic again. I also had some technology issues with the add on curriculum piece and it took them several months to fix the problem.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The benefits are great. I have a tracking system of when I send transcripts and publish scholarships. There is also an excellent piece to communicate with parents. The turn around for college admissions documents is great also.

"Great for high school juniors and seniors looking into colleges. "

What do you like best?

It is easy to view and allows students to compare different school with a lot of information, such as price, sports, dorms, act, sat, and gpa. It allows seniors to create a list of schools they applied to and what the decision was.

What do you dislike?

Some parts are hard to use such as putting in the scholarship money that you have received and the resume part is a little complicated for first time users.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Naviance is great for college, it allows letters of recommendations to be sent to colleges straight from the website. It also allows students to link their common app to naviance to help make using the website easier.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Schools benefit from this a lot because juniors are able to take quizzes to see what colleges are best for them and seniors are able to compare the colleges they are applying to.

"Great program for students and educators to work together"

What do you like best?

Naviance is a user friendly program that allows students to work with educators in order to make their post-secondary transition as seamless as possible. Naviance has the availability for all of the students information regarding testing, college requests, and their high school information to all in be in program. This program can be viewed at school and at home.

What do you dislike?

Some students have a difficult time linking information, as they also use the College Board site frequently. Using multiple platforms can be challenging for some students, and information is therefore left out.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Students take various assessments within Naviance throughout high school. They are able to narrow down their interests and personality traits in order to find applicable careers. This helps students to think of career paths and therefore post-secondary education.

"A teacher's perspective on Naviance"

What do you like best?

Naviance is a useful tool for teachers to be able to manage student letters of recommendation requests for college successfully, but I feel there is more the app could provide. The organization of the website is very simple and easy to navigate.

What do you dislike?

The one aspect of Naviance that does not work well is notifications. I had students tell me they had submitted a request for me, but I had to log in to see the request. I checked the settings and there is not much to push to email or have an app on your personal device to let you know there was a request.

This is a great system for students and educators.

In our school system, Naviance is helping teachers work closely with guidance counselors to create an efficient and effective way for students to prepare their applications for college.

"Naviance - It's not Salesforce but it's the next best thing"

What do you like best?

I used Naviance to track students' matriculations into college. It does a good job of producing reports and organizing data. I like how you can upload and submit to all the colleges simultaneously.

What do you dislike?

It's just not Salesforce. It doesn't have nearly the tracking abilities nor collaboration capabilities that Salesforce has.

It does a really great job at allowing you to track student data as they prepare to go to college. Parents, studentsm admins really enjoy it. It's a good investment for a school to make.

"I have used Naviance to help students with college and career exploration."

What do you like best?

Naviance is easy to navigate and has a ton of information available and is easy to navigate. Our students use it to explore different careers using the career cluster search as well as using the super Match college search tool.

What do you dislike?

It does not print off information (I.e. survey results, data) in a user friendly way.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Know what you want from it before purchasing some additions that you might not need or might not yet be ready to implement.

Data collection is much easier. Students can log in and respond to surveys any where they have a computer.

"Great for College-Bound Students"

What do you like best?

Visual data about college matches from the specific demographics of your school.

What do you dislike?

Some difficulty writing letters of recommendation for the common app.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

We take time out of homeroom/advisory for students to create accounts, log in, and get walked through the process by a teacher who knows how to work it. Otherwise, can't guarantee they'll do it on their own time.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

My students are very unfamiliar with the college application process (low-SES school). However, Naviance allows them to see what schools are safeties, matches, and reaches for them. They are able to realistically see where they should apply, and have a guide throughout the application process.

"Helpful Student Success Plan Tool"

What do you like best?

Naviance allows students to document aspects of their student success plans in one place . They use Naviance to write annual academic, career, and social/personal goals , explore career paths through unique career cluster and key inventories, and have a great college exploration tool . You can easily survey students and assign tasks to document what has been completed.

What do you dislike?

If settings are not correct, information can be lost from year to year or when transferring school levels. Student passwords often need to be reset.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"Naviance helps students plan for the future"

What do you like best?

Naviance is a great program for helping students plan for their future and careers. From picking classez, to colleges, to jobs - it assists them every step of the way.

What do you dislike?

Naviance can be a little difficult to navigate at first. It can also be easy for students to skip through and not give their full attention.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

While it can be difficult to use at times, the benefits for students using Naviance over time outweigh the learning curve at the beginning.

Naviance has helped create an advisory class for students that doesn't have to be taught multiple times per week. It allows students to get an advisory credit over a long period of time.

"Great software with some bugs"

What do you like best?

The edocs capabilities save a great deal of time, and the college/university info is extremely helpful. I like that it's one software that students can access for so many different types of information.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes the processing times for documents are very long. At times, the help articles are not actually helpful, and contacting customer service isn't very helpful sometimes.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Transmitting documents to colleges and universities is so much easier and faster, and I have a verification that they were received.

"Great tool with endless features to make the college application process more streamlined"

What do you like best?

I like the vast array of tools available to capture data and the ability to manage so many facets of the college application process through one streamlined portal. Their customer service as well is some of the speediest I have experienced.

What do you dislike?

Naviance has a tendency to break down on important application deadlines, and the interface of Naviance with the Common App regarding teacher recommendations is at times cumbersome.

One stop shop for all my college application process needs. Has allow me to better streamline the process, have access to real time and concrete data that can be used to direct important high level changes in the overall project management of college applications.

"necessary product for all high school seniors "

What do you like best?

Naviance makes it easy to streamline the college admission process. It allows students to put all of their information in one place. From there, independent college counselors, parents, and teachers can access everything. It is without a doubt a necessary tool. It fills in gaps and leaves no stone unturned. It is such a helpful tool for communicating with multiple people who are all necessary in the college process.

What do you dislike?

There is nothing I truly dislike about Naviance. I've found that sometimes students will get overwhelmed by the amount of information, but that is more a function of the college process than the software.

Definitely use it. It will make your life easier.

The problem this solves is the need to aggregate a lot of information. Multiple parties need to come together to get a student into college, and Naviance does a great job.

What do you like best?

Naviance is a tool that's makes students self reliant. It also makes access to pertinent documents easy to obtain.

What do you dislike?

Currently my district doesn't utilize this tool to its fullest potential which is limiting.

The roll out may be difficult in large districts, but the turn out is worth while.

What do you like best?

Ease of use and access to all materials that have been uploaded and how it is universally available to all the applications are submitted

What do you dislike?

Time it takes to upload ... At times it is slow and hard to maneuver from one student to another

As a teacher, practice using the program ahead of due dates and place Word document reccomendations in a single folder and properly labeled so it is easy to upload

I like the various ways to visualize data, and user friendly ways to see data.

What do you dislike?

I dislike that there arn't as many colleges from the Boston area, and also that the info. needs to be updated.

More students to navigate schools without being nervous and intimidated. We have realized that the process can be easy to explain when visuals are offered as a means of teaching.

That it centralizes all of my students' information and recommendation uploading-methods.

What do you dislike?

The tabs given for each student aren't always very intuitive. The interface could be simplified.

I like that it is user friendly to set up, use as an administrator, and for students once they get past sign up.

What do you dislike?

It could be simpler to navigate for students to find what they need. It can be repeat info at different links making it hard to know which is the right place to be.

There could be better customer support and informational guides. Some students still struggle with the interface.
