## Namely Reviews
 ### 1. Terrible Service and Software

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2024

**What do you like best about Namely?**

I wanted to love Namely, but unfortunately, it fell short in so many ways. From the beginning, the lack of engagement and implementation issues set us off to a rough start. It was a terrible experience overall, though I have to commend Wendy from the benefits admin backend integration—she was amazing. Nothing against her, and I hope she’s moved on to a company with a better reputation.

That said, I find it hard to believe many of the 3-5 star reviews here. I came from Gusto, excited to embrace a robust HRIS, but that excitement quickly faded. From implementation to customer service, everything was riddled with mishaps—especially with payroll and benefits. My advice? Find something else anything else!!

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

Everything. As I mentioned, I really wanted to love it, but I found nothing about it to be user-friendly. For instance, HRIS and payroll are not integrated—you have to make changes in the HRIS system and then repeat the process in the payroll system. This completely defeats the purpose of investing in software designed to improve efficiency.

Payroll was a nightmare, taking us hours—not because of human error but due to system errors and a complete lack of clarity. When we called for support, we were constantly transferred between teams. Payroll support couldn’t address issues with HRIS time and attendance, and vice versa, which only wasted more time.

The lack of training across the board was alarming. To make matters worse, most of the people I worked with during the initial implementation—who were actually great—were let go after an acquisition. Some of them even reached out afterward to apologize for the terrible experience.

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Nothing.

**Official Response from Layne Langford:**

> Thank you for sharing your feedback. We take your concerns seriously, and it’s clear you've encountered challenges. Your insights are valuable, and I’ve shared your feedback with our client relations team to ensure we’re continuously improving and addressing areas of concern.

We’re pleased to hear Wendy provided excellent support, as we strive to deliver that level of service consistently across all interactions. If you’d like to discuss your experience further, our client relationship managers are here to assist. If you have a dedicated CRM assigned to your account, please reach out to them directly. If not, we encourage you to submit a case via ClientSpace, and a member of our CRM team will connect with you promptly.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience, and wishing you the best in the new year!

 ### 2. If you are looking for your taxes to be wrong, chose this platform!

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anthony A. | Human Resources Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 29, 2023

**What do you like best about Namely?**

There is very little to like. I suppose it does run payroll

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

Where to start. The support team is almost useless. You log a ticket and their SLAs look like you might get a resolution in a day or two - that is never the case. I even submitted a ticket that was urgent and didn't hear back from anyone for 48 hours. On top of that, we've had tax tickets outstanding for MONTHS. Completely unacceptable.
I've been almost impossible to escalate these issues. I went to go message their CEO to tell them about this poor experience - guess what? They don't have one.
If you are considering this platform, don't. Not only was it shockling expensive, you will not get the value you are looking for from this.
UPDATE: After I logged this ticket someone from customer support reached out to try to make things better. They did not achieve this. I continue to not have clarity on our outstanding tax balances and the organization did nothing for service recovery nor took responsibility for their inability to do the proper calculations and factor in the additional costs of not having the costs submitted. I'm sure glad we paid them to do these calculations and that they we're not done.

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to pay our staff, but the tax submissions are not being done correctly.

 ### 3. Choose Any Other Platform!

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Victoria W. | Payroll Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Namely?**

We can send documents for employees to sign

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

There is NO customer service. NO way to get a hold of anyone. You have to 'submit a case' through 'Client Space', then wait 3-4 days for your question to be assigned to an agent and THEN it takes a few more days to get an answer. Plus when they answer they CLOSE the case and usually your question wasn't answered! It is the worst I have ever seen.

**Recommendations to others considering Namely:**

Be very clear with what you want during implementation. CHeck everything that is uploaded to your platform.

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since we started using this produce 3 years ago the customer service has gone WAY down. There is NO customer service. THey have taken away all platforms to reach them.

**Official Response from Vienna Stivala:**

> Thank you for your review! We really appreciate your feedback and are happy to hear that your employees enjoy using our platform. As for your data during implementation, we thank you for bringing the issue to our attention. We looked into the incident by identifying who was on your implementation team and confirmed that the issue was resolved swiftly before any data had the opportunity to be breached. At Namely, data security is an absolute top priority. Again, we truly apologize and are happy to hear that your experience since then has been positive.

 ### 4. RUN AWAY

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aaron B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 01, 2023

**What do you like best about Namely?**

The user experience for employees isn't bad (when things don't go wrong).

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

I can't emphasize how dissapointed our company was with Namely. We transitioned to Namely a year ago and are vetting new vendors once again.

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Namely seemed to only create problems, not solve them. From tax issues to HSA deduction problems for all employees with the letter C, multiple times. The fires were never ending. The thing that really drove me to write a review wasn't the technical issues, but the customer service. No accountability, no follow ups when promised, and rude attitudes when trying to fix issues.

**Official Response from Mauriah Lamia:**

> Thank you for your review! We really appreciate your feedback and truly apologize for your negative experience. As for customer support, we took client feedback into consideration and have moved past our transition period with the brokerage.

Our consultants strive to help clients customize their benefits plans and provide world-class client support. Please reach out directly if we can be of more service to you.

 ### 5. Namely is not for small businesses

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Evan W. | Co-Founder & Partner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2023

**What do you like best about Namely?**

The customer service is pretty good. People are generally within reach when you need them. The only positive aspect of working with Namely over the past year was having good service.

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

The technology is dreadful. I don't even know where to start with this. Implementation was an absolute disaster working with what seemed like at least six people. I almost canceled our contract at that point, and in hindsight, I should have. We finally did get on the right track by having one dedicated person to speak with. But once you use it, it doesn't get any better. Reports are hard to generate. Everything is disconnected. It feels like it's six different systems mashed together into one. I should have known this is likely why their service is good; they need more people to compensate for how bad their technology is. Also, to my point of saying they're not small business friendly - keep in mind that they will NOT work with you if you have a reduction in headcount throughout the year. We're in the mortgage business, and it has been a challenging twelve months. I asked for some relief on our monthly bill but was ignored. Oh, and to make it even worse - we just had amendments filed for state taxes on an employee for several quarters, and they're trying to charge us $2,500 for it, despite us paying extra for Managed Payroll! I could probably go on for another couple of paragraphs about my bad experience with Namely, but I will save you all the reading time. Just go with a different provider; we are switching to Rippling, which has been fantastic.

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They didn't solve any problems for us other than having better customer service than Gusto (where we came from). They actually made our problems worse and put us in a severe bind in terms of cash flow due to the expensive contract.

 ### 6. Steer Clear AT ALL COSTS - even if it's the cheaper option

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 14, 2021

**What do you like best about Namely?**

"View As" feature is handy. That's it...

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

HRIS and payroll are separate systems...

**Recommendations to others considering Namely:**

Stay away from Namely. Your time and money are better spent elsewhere. I can't believe their ratings are so high...

1. There is close to zero support - their support teams direct you to articles that are very surface-level, whenever I do get someone on the phone, half the call is spent in silence because the agent does not know the answer. If they do happen to know the answer, it's an arbitrary fix on the backend. I have very little understanding on how I can self-serve and prevent these issues in the future.
2. When putting out an update, it's very obvious that they do not do any QA. For example, there was a release to connect HRIS and Payroll fields (another huge issue) and some of our fields got messed up in the process - it was a whole extra process to audit and re-enter data that we already painstakingly steward.
3. Performance cycles are a nightmare to manage. What should be a simple cycle, turns into a convoluted mess. Very inflexible, complicated, huge learning curve - I dread every cycle I launch. You'd be better off doing it through Google Forms...

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Honestly, Namely creates more problems than it solves. There aren't any benefits you could find elsewhere.

**Official Response from Vienna Stivala:**

> Thank you for your review! We really appreciate your feedback and are disappointed to hear that you feel Namely isn’t the right solution for your company.

As for customer support, we apologize for your negative experience. We are confident that the combination of our expert Pod Service Teams and the Namely Help Community will enhance clients’ overall experiences.

As for product updates, our team constantly strives to enhance our platform and makes QA a top priority when rolling out new features. We truly apologize for your negative experience with those updated fields.

 ### 7. Far better solutions for payroll than this one.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sara M. | Payroll Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2021

**What do you like best about Namely?**

Interactions with the company users is a great feature.

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

Everything about the HR and Payroll setup and processing: this is literally the worst payroll software you could choose. You cannot add your own earnings, you cannot adjust any setups, you cannot import any data without Namely setting that up for you first, you cannot override, you have to process with a minimum of 4 days prior to deposit unless you want to wire them the money to do it faster.

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Zero

**Official Response from Vienna Stivala:**

> Thank you for your review! We really appreciate your feedback and apologize for your negative experience. We understand your pain points and have plans on our product roadmap to continue to improve clients’ experiences with payroll processing.

 ### 8. Cumbersome UX, expensive plans, terrible service - avoid if possible

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 06, 2020

**What do you like best about Namely?**

Namely has a mobile app that is user-friendly

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

Having been on Namely for two years as a company then moving to Justworks, we are blown away by how much better Justworks is on almost every dimension.

Namely's onboarding experience was onerous and because the HRIS didn't speak to Payroll, you have to do multiple manual steps (and duplicate steps) to get an employee fully onboarded in Namely. Namely's UX is clunky and even things as simple as reporting are overly complicated. Their support was often unresponsive -- and the medical plans and pricing they surfaced to our team were atrocious.

We made the switch to Justworks; while no platform is perfect, Justworks is leaps and bounds ahead of Namely on all the dimensions that matter most to us and our team (ease and access of service/support, competitiveness and quality of medical plans, overall pricing, UX, integration with payroll, ease of onboarding, etc). Justworks has A LOT of additional value-adds that make it unquestionably the better choice. We used Gusto back in the day and loved that platform as well - at the time, it wasn't offering benefits but now that it does I would reconsider Gusto as well.

**Recommendations to others considering Namely:**

Do yourself a favor and AVOID Namely. We made a costly mistake in choosing them for our relatively basic needs, as our company went from ~40-150 FTEs.

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HRIS, payroll, benefits management, reporting

**Official Response from Emma Riedl:**

> Thank you for your review! We really appreciate your feedback. We are disappointed to hear that you feel Namely wasn’t the right solution for your company and apologize for your negative experience.

 ### 9. Not functionally great if you are in Finance or HR. Would NOT recommend.

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Namely?**

I think from an employee perspective, the interface is ok, but that's it. It seems most of these positive reviews are from the employee perspective, and not the admin perspective where the most issues are from payroll or benefits admin.

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

From Finance and HR perspective using for payroll and benefits admin, it's not a great product. There have been plenty of issues with the product and functionality. It almost results in more work. No product is perfect, but what makes it worse, is that their customer service is lacking. Which is a definite no no especially when dealing with payroll. Their contracting requirements "don't allow" you to remove the auto-renew clause, which we usually do for every contract we sign, but I think that just speaks to a poor product and service experience that they have to resort to legal language to maintain their customers...

Things left to be desired:

Manual - wish there was some upload functionality to make changes to commuter benefits or to upload commissions
Netsuite integration pushes limited data - employee name, start, end date (missing department and class)
Change history (ie if I moved departments all historical data also moves to the new department)
Customer support
Site is hard to navigate, simple things like picking check as payment is tough to find in their system

If you are the admin for Namely either in HR or Finance, this will be a difficult product for you to use.

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HRIS, payroll, benefits enrollment for very small companies. Not great when you scale over 100 people.

 ### 10. They failed at the critical payroll processing part

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 11, 2020

**What do you like best about Namely?**

UI is intuitive, easy to use, and user friendly.

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

Unfortunately Namely is unreliable and apparently does not know how to accurate handle payroll processing and W-2 filings. I worked at a company that transitioned from Namely in the middle of a tax year. Namely reported the income, which lead to double income reporting for me. Now I am being audited by the IRS and the error has gone uncorrected for a year. The IRS thinks I haven't paid taxes on my income and thinks IO have 2X income for that tax year.

Accuracy is paramount for payroll processing, and if your can't handle that correctly and accurately, you need to remove that feature from your app and leave that to professional organizations to handle such a critical role of people operations.

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not applicable

**Official Response from Emma Riedl:**

> Thank you for your review! We really appreciate your feedback and are happy you are satisfied with Namely's intuitive platform. We are disappointed to hear that you feel Namely wasn’t the right solution for your company and apologize for your negative experience.

 ### 11. Unacceptable Service and Functionality

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daryl A. | Senior Director of Finance, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Namely?**

We were drawn to the clean interface and onboarding tools within the program. The product still looks good, but that's about as much credit as I'll give.

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

Our biggest issue with Namely was on the benefits administration side. Their demo team implied that our benefits enrollment was completed automatically, but what they meant was we enrolled electronically and eventually someone on their team would get around to submitting that information to our carriers. Unfortunately, this was rarely the case. Over the year that we were with namely we we onboarded approximately 30 new employees. Nearly 100% of those onboards had a serious problem with their enrollment. They were either never actually enrolled in the benefits that they selected or they were enrolled in the wrong plans. I was patient the first 3 times, the subsequent 6 just confirmed that we couldn't continue on the platform. We paid for their "managed services" which was supposed to provide us with additional HR support and attention. We didn't even receive the bare minimum. I had employees showing up to the doctor thinking that they had health insurance only to find out that they had never been entered into the system. We had several "come to Jesus" discussions about this and every time they promised to fully audit our account and that it would never happen again. Even now, with a week left on the platform, I discovered another failed enrollment.

Beyond that, they also have a poor record of timely filing our state payroll returns. Despite providing them tax id's and UI information in new states, Namely did not update information and failed to file several state returns. In one case it took us 5 separate attempts to get them to resolve the issue (Q3 2018...reached resolution May 2019). They showed zero initiative for identifying failure points within their system that would lead to these misses and then also asked for additional fees to file the corrected/late forms. If you're caught in this trap, refuse to pay those fees.

**Recommendations to others considering Namely:**

The level or service to keep this product running isn't sustainable. You will likely have a very rough time.

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Namely created many more problems than it solved. Their platform is almost entirely dependent on manual processes happening behind the scenes by undertrained junior professionals.

 ### 12. Potential for really good technology, but there are major fundamental flaws and service is horrible.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 09, 2016

**What do you like best about Namely?**

The technology is very user friendly and easy to navigate.

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

HRIS and Payroll are 2 distinct platforms that do not sync or play together very well. Emphasizing in my above comment that the technology SHOULD be able to address all of your HRIS & Payroll needs. Unfortunately, there are some very fundamental flaws that have been built into the technology that have made it inflexible. For example: i) employer-paid medical benefits cannot be based on a % of total premiums in the onboarding module, making open enrollment a manual process; ii) employer-paid insurance coverage can only be based on salary, not total comp - also making it a manual process for open enrollment and any time that comp changes for certain employees. We've had numerous issues with feeds for HSA and FSA accounts, as well as with the feeds to Namely's preferred workers' comp insurance provider. There are several other shortcomings, which in aggregate, make it seem like the technology was built by a team that had very limited experience in HRIS & Payroll. On the payroll side, we've had several issues with tax withholdings and filings for certain jurisdictions. It appears as though their Tax Dept is not very knowledgeable about certain jurisdictions (and we do operate in 1 of the largest cities in the country). Service response times are horrific. You can also talk to 3 different people regarding the same issue and get 3 different answers.

**Recommendations to others considering Namely:**

When vetting, be very specific about your benefit arrangements - ie, ER vs EE payments, how amounts are calculated, etc - as well as their capabilities with respect to your tax jurisdictions. Probably a good idea to request references from folks in your industry and same tax jurisdiction(s), if possible.

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

On the whole, we have made our HRIS and Payroll processes much more automated and efficient on an ongoing basis. However, some of the drawbacks related to open-enrollment, payroll taxes and a few other issues have, at least in part, nullified some of the efficiencies that we have gained.

 ### 13. Namely sucks!!!

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 28, 2019

**What do you like best about Namely?**

System is easy to use BUT the customer service is terrible!!

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

They take 48 hours to get back to you no one ever returns your calls. I have over 700 employees and if you ask for any help they won't do it for you they will just show you. If you are a large employer stay away! You need a full time payroll person to deal with namely. The sales people will lie to you. Namely has only 1 way to upload payroll and it takes us 10 hours on a Sunday to complete so we can upload it in their system which is crazy.

**Recommendations to others considering Namely:**

If you have over 100 employees I don't recommend namely. If you are qsr company I really don't recommend it customer service is TERRIBLE!

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Nothing I'm leaving them don't recommend them we went through 4 account reps in 1.5 years.

 ### 14. Terrible Customer Service

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2019

**What do you like best about Namely?**

The HRIS system was nice for 360 reviews and kept well with the PTO and anniversaries

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

The Payroll was awful. I was getting past due notices from different states because they were not submitting taxes appropriately. I was getting prompted to register for taxes in states that we did not need to file taxes or for 1099 contractors. The customer service team took weeks to resolve issues.

**Recommendations to others considering Namely:**

Run far far away. Find something else. They are terrible at payroll. If you want just for HR, then maybe you can try, but payroll is a terrible terrible idea.

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None now we have moved to a new system because of the poor implementation and payroll system.

 ### 15. Do your homework during the sales process - Namely is not what it seems

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2019

**What do you like best about Namely?**

The UI / Facebook feel for remote employees to be able to interact/engage with each other

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

There is not enough space to list it all out. The platform is NOT integrated so do not believe what they tell you in the sales pitch. The customer service is terrible and we have had 4 or 5 account managers in 18 months

**Recommendations to others considering Namely:**

I would look elsewhere. This has been a two year nightmare. They just cannot seem to get it together. And their product upgrades are not in the critical areas

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Honestly none. Namely has caused more problems for us than we had with ADP (which was awful). Namely is not integrated so we do a lot of duplicative work and if you dont babysit the platform, errors will come up later that bite you in the backside. We have had issues with EDI feeds to carriers, issues with Benefits enrollments, onboarding and their PTO module is a joke. And their supposed "experts" at the company cant answer simple questions such as "if a pay date falls on Jan 1 which is a bank holiday, will those funds show up on their 2020 W2 or 2021 W2? It took over a week of back forth emails and the person did not even know what they were taking about. Unbelievable. Even though the platform looks "pretty" - RUN!

 ### 16. Buyer beware - Do not use for health insurance benefits administration

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Namely?**

It's "OK". Not great at all. If I take out benefits admin it is just a HR platform of sorts, which ... I don't think carries much benefit.

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

We've used Namely for 3 years or so. This past year, we switched our health plan offerings. Although they do a customized onboarding/intro for the company, and produce a packet, they failed to explain how one of the plans is "tiered" so the advertised deductible was not necessarily valid. I ended up living in an area where there are ZERO "maximum savings" providers, so everything I need insurance for is at the second tier. It made my choice of plans the MORE expensive choice, and had I known I would have selected a plan with a higher deductible/less out of pocket. When brought to the HR person and SVP of Operation's attention, neither of them had been made aware any of our plan offerings were tiered. When I complained to Namely (since i cannot change plans in the middle of a year), their defense was that it was in the plan details guide created by the insurance company - not their custom guide or presentation. There were no apologies, and no retributions or offerings made. They should not be licensed to sell insurance if they are not knowledgeable in how to explain the plans they are brokering. Further, updates to home addresses etc aren ever communicated back to the insurers, which is a problem.

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's an "all in one system" but that seems to be about the only benefit.

 ### 17. Don't Do It

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2019

**What do you like best about Namely?**

The HRIS front end is good for onboarding and employee information management. And the Analytics tool is a major upgrade (because they implemented Looker's product instead of building something themselves). The native Namely reporting is really really bad - it cannot even sort dates correctly.

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

enefits Administration and Payroll products are very bad. Be sure you ask to see these in detail when you're buying because they will mostly show you the glossy front end. The part your teams actually needs to work in is pretty terrible and very poorly tied together. We are constantly finding things that Namely needs to fix, and they usually don't fix it correctly the first time.

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

y People Ops team has gone to extraordinary efforts to fix a number of things. The service we receive and the quality of follow through is horrible. I would give Namely a 0 every day of the year, but this week's particular issue is that after a recent Open Enrollment period only about half of employee deductions were being made - despite TWO separate confirmations from my team with Namely that everything was setup. And that was AFTER Namely set the deductions up wrong in the first place. Two weeks ago we asked for some price relief for a set of employees that don't get payroll or benefits admin through Namely - and we were told no. It's just bad after bad after bad. The members of my team who use Namely are problem solvers, not complainers, and every single one cannot wait to get off of this platform.

 ### 18. Namely is best for a small business without a lot of HR needs.

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Namely?**

It's easy for non HR employees to use. Their onboarding for new hires integrates with Greenhouse (somewhat).

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

There is no easy access to EEo1 reporting. As an HRIS, that's a huge drawback. Also their customer services is very lackluster. A lot of "I'm sorry about your experience" and when I had a problem with an intergration, they advised me to make a workaround on the other site rather than fixing the problem on their end. I

**Recommendations to others considering Namely:**

If you are a small business who plans on growing into larger than 300 members, find a more robust HRIS

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's our first HRIS, so it makes our reporting easier and it allows employee info to be kept in one place.

 ### 19. Run

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jordan M. | Technology Advisor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 13, 2019

**What do you like best about Namely?**

The platform looks sleek and modern and they try to help but the system just insn't able to accomplish some basic benefit configurations

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

Everything...the implementation was terrible and they over promised and under delivered in the sales process

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were trying to have an all-in-one platform but at the end of the day implementing Namely created more problems

 ### 20. Least efficient HR software

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paige K. | People Operations Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Namely?**

The user interface is nice and clean. I like the analytics function.

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

The various parts and systems don’t “talk” to each other or automatically sync, so there is far too many manual processes. It just adds a step to our processes instead of actually solving anything.

**Recommendations to others considering Namely:**

Only good for small companies with basic processes.

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ease of pulling reports.

 ### 21. Big Issue for Big company

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Antoine F. | Telecommunications Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2018

**What do you like best about Namely?**

Very simple to use and great interaction work social media feature to help employees connect with each other.

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

Very unprofessional when it came to handling the more important things, like payroll and benifits.

**Recommendations to others considering Namely:**

It might work better for a small company with maybe less than 60 people or so, but I wouldn't recommend for more than that.

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We went from ADP to this company to I guess have a change. So this was our main and only HR software system. The only benefits I see is that it does have a nice social media feed screen, but that's about it.

 ### 22. OK software, TERRIBLE service

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2017

**What do you like best about Namely?**

Review management works pretty well. Managing time off also works pretty well once you get it set up correctly.

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

Their service is absolutely horrific. Based on the number of payroll and benefits mistakes they have made in the last year, I can only assume that everything they say is automatic is actually done manually. We have an HR person who has to double check almost everything that happens in Namely related to benefits and payroll. If she hadn't been paying careful attention, we would have fallen out of COBRA compliance on several occasions. They have also made a few entirely avoidable mistakes that cost us money - withholding incorrectly based on benefit elections, not properly funding HSAs but withholding the funds etc.

I would only recommend Namely if you have a few extra HR folks who love micromanaging and have absolutely nothing better to do.

**Recommendations to others considering Namely:**

Hire an HR person to babysit Namely and be prepared for Namely mistakes to cost your company money.

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We initially needed a system to track PTO and Sick Leave as well as something to manage health insurance benefits.

We were also interested in updating our payroll processor to a system that would provide better employee access.

Benefits: We now have a system to manage PTO and Sick Leave. Health insurance is partially managed - their open enrollment system had to be turned off multiple times during our open enrollment period this year and we have had to double and triple check everything they do - never trust a confirmation page in Namely. Payroll is processed by Namely - once again, you need to double and triple check everything they do because your pay stub may not perfectly match reality unless you ask them.

 ### 23. Wanted a one stop shop for employees.

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2016

**What do you like best about Namely?**

The HRIS interface and user experience is nice.

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

Client services has been spotty at best. Response time is horrible and their benefits module is archaic and needs improvement. Their engineers make changes on the back end, without realizing how the "upgrades" affect other areas.

**Recommendations to others considering Namely:**

Be careful to jump into a system that boasts a bundling of HRIS, Performance Management, Payroll and Benefits. There is bound to be integration issues if they are not all built in-house.

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A simple HRIS tool, but their integration with payroll and benefits needs a lot of work. Seems as though there are many workarounds that are unnecessary and cause extra steps for HR to hurdle through. For example, their remote link seems irrelevant if you are not using their payroll solution.

 ### 24. Great HRIS and Payroll System but awful customer service

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer L. | HR Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2015

**What do you like best about Namely?**

I really like Namely payroll. Coming from our previous company ( which is one of the larger payroll companies out there), Namely is just so much more intuitive. It takes me no time at all to process payroll and to process the reports I need to provide to our accounting team.

**What do you dislike about Namely?**

We are on our 3rd account rep. The transition from rep to rep isn't as smooth as I would anticipate.

**Recommendations to others considering Namely:**

Give yourself ample time for the switch over... it took a little longer for us to get all the information we needed on Namely in the beginning.

**What problems is Namely solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have an international staff and the Namely newsfeed allows us all to post and stay connected. The reports section on Namely HRIS also takes care of all of our reporting needs. The system overall is very user friendly.
