The presentation of them is easy to use if a little dated. You can type custom phrases, resize it, and you get curated example use case images for everything. You can create mix and match webfont kits as well. Spoilers for the Dislike section: Their lack of care for clients has forced us to diversify where we get our fonts from (spoiler is we don't get them here if we can avoid it) and that has led to some amazing new designs using fonts from indie designers I never would have met otherwise. **What do you dislike about MyFonts?** The webfont kits are a bit of a bear to work with and the presentation is dated, especially in comparison to Mosaic.com. Now that I've mentioned the 500lb Gorilla let's talk about that. Monotype used to offer a ridiculously inexpensive subscription service for myfonts. Not every foundry was included but a ton of them were. Plus you had access to everything Monotype which, love em or hate em, is a ton of the best fonts ever created. It was almost exactly like Adobe TypeKit - unlimited commercial use of a ton of fantastic fonts, cloud synced to multiple machines you own. The only real difference was that you had to pay extra for web use. That's preferable for most clients since they'd get the license and it wasn't tied to your subscription. No official team option for a discounted seat rate or anything but the price was so low it was super affordable for startup design firms like myself. That price? $15 per month. Then one day they launched Mosaic. Mosaic is a beautifully designed font site with a subscription service. A subscription service who only has 2 differences from the MyFonts one: -Team licenses available in groups starting at 10 -Plans starting at $1200 per year Oh! I forgot one major detail. The day they launched this, they cancelled the MyFonts subscription. We changed our credit card but forgot to update this account with it. The payment failed and my plan was immediately cancelled. I couldn't even find the option to update payment info and recharge. It was only when I contacted customer care and informed them of my error, that I wanted to fix it but that I couldn't, that I was informed that the program was cancelled in favor of Mosaic. Fine, new platform, great! Sign me up right? They gave me to a sales rep who brought me up to speed. No added benefit, same delivery method, but an increase from hell: 566.67% if you only had one seat or, if you were like us, an increase of 233.33% for 2 seats. Sure we could have up to 10 seats for that price, but we don't have anything close to that yet. I raised my concerns up the chain and eventually got someone to reinstate our old plan. I still have that plan. However I have to live with the fear that if literally anything happens - false fail when charging the card, bills don't fall in our favor for a day (we are a startup), card renews but we don't update in time - that all my main fonts are suddenly gone lest I pay a ludacris markup. **Recommendations to others considering MyFonts:** All that said, this is a good site as a jumping off point, but they are money hungry with no care for end users so find what you like then go buy it from the foundry directly. Support them over the literal uncaring faceless corporate giant Monotype. Unless you need a Monotype font, then buy here cause it's your only option. **What problems is MyFonts solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were able to actually afford the Monotype library during the subscription. Now it's effectively Pinterest for fonts for us. We go through and find something we like, favorite others for later, then buy from the foundries directly. So that I suppose? ### 24. Being a graphic designer purchasing fonts just comes with the job and is something any designer has to come to terms with. Additionally, the ability to choose from cloud-hosted vs. self-hosted is hugely helpful. The ability to quickly assign CSS classes at the implementation level saves time. **What do you dislike about MyFonts?** I wish the path to selecting type for the web was more straightforward. It's clear that the bulk of revenue comes from buying typefaces so the push is to feature the font licensing. One or two generations ago, you could go directly to web fonts... this is now more cumbersome.
