"Muck Rack Makes PR Measurement and Reporting Easy"
5/5
What do you like best about Muck Rack?

PR Measurement is one of the hardest things to track, but Muck Rack does a good job reporting it to the best of its ability. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Muck Rack?

Sometimes the workflows are a bit too complicated and could be simplified. For example, a lot of times I wish I could have the same capabilities in a coverage book as I do in the tracker. Sometimes I just want a quick look at something rather than having to set up a coverage book and look from there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Eliza Castillo of Muck Rack

Thanks for the review. We’re glad Muck Rack is helping make PR measurement and reporting easier. Helping teams understand share of voice, track performance and communicate results is a key part of what we aim to deliver.

We appreciate your feedback on workflows between Trackers and Coverage Reports and we’ll pass this feedback along to our product team. Simplifying reporting workflows and making insights more accessible is an active area of focus. Thanks again for sharing your experience.

"Excellent Media Access, But High Cost"
4/5
What do you like best about Muck Rack?

I use Muck Rack for media monitoring and press release distribution. I love that it centralizes all communications with journalists, which is incredibly convenient. What I like most about Muck Rack is definitely the access to journalists. I also really appreciate the ability to send pitches to the media lists, which helps me personalize or mass send my pitches easily. The initial setup was very easy too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Muck Rack?

The price definitely, it's very expensive. It needs to be a lot more flexible in pricing, right now it's just too expensive and may look to change providers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Eliza Castillo of Muck Rack

Thanks for the thoughtful review. We’re glad Muck Rack is helping you centralize journalist outreach and making it easy to personalize pitches at scale. It’s great to hear the platform is supporting both your media monitoring and press release distribution workflows.

We appreciate your feedback on pricing and we’ll pass this feedback along to our product team. Thanks again for sharing your experience.

"A Must-Have for Media Monitoring and Coverage Reports"
5/5
What do you like best about Muck Rack?

I have used MuckRack for many years, first as a media database but also huge user of MuckRack alerts for monitoring and building coverage reports. The live chat with your team helps me get updated information on reporters or to get guidance on boolean thread building Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Muck Rack?

I don't love the way the lists are output in Excel - I wish it was more clear on how to use the filters before you download the list. I also think, despite begging, the podcast piece of the database is wanting vs. Podchaser in terms of data and producer contacts And a mixed bag re: Substack authors including the big ones like Jim Acosta. I also HATE the changes made to setting up alerts with that middle step called "tracker" -- no explanation as to why we have it Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Jessica Andrews of Muck Rack

Hi Lisa, thank you so much for your review! We’re so glad you've trusted Muck Rack with your PR workflows all these years. We appreciate the candid feedback on Excel exports, podcast depth, Substack coverage and the Tracker step in alerts. We’ll pass these along to our product team. Thanks again for the thoughtful input.

"Updated Journalist Contacts, but List-Building Needs Better Email Filtering"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Muck Rack?

Muckrack tends to be more updated with journalists contact info especially freelancers Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Muck Rack?

Making lists is becoming a time suck. There needs to be a selection that allows me to remove all journalists that do not list an email or says "this journalist did not provide an email." I can do lists and search a lot faster if I had this function. What am I going to do with a bunch of people without contact emails? I also don't like that it's hard to search for my brand's beat which is Family& Parenting. I wish this could be an actual beat with writers that cover this topic not people who are parents but write about a completely different topic. Another thing that would make list making and searching go faster is if you could remove writers and freelancers who haven't written anything in over a year. I am finding so many writers in Muckrack that haven't written anything in 2, 3+ years. why are they in your database? Delete them. I'm also finding a bunch of defunct media outlets blogs that havent posted in years, magazines that haven't printed any new issues, blogs/websites that don't even exist anymore. I think the database needs a good overhaul and delete unnecessary information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Eliza Castillo of Muck Rack

Thanks for the candid review. We’re glad Muck Rack is helping you find updated journalist contacts, especially freelancers, since keeping pace with media movement is a huge part of effective outreach.

We appreciate your detailed feedback on list building, inactive contacts and beat relevance. We’ll pass this feedback along to our product team. Improving search precision and reducing outdated or low-value results are major focus areas for us right now, especially as we continue evolving our search capabilities with more AI-driven entity matching and filtering. We also understand how important cleaner email filtering is for efficient workflow management.

If you come across outdated profiles or inactive outlets, you can click “Request update” to flag them for our data team. For niche beats like Family & Parenting, our media research team can also spend more time building out coverage in those areas.

Thanks again for sharing such thoughtful input.

"Streamlined Media Tracking with Excellent Support"
4/5
What do you like best about Muck Rack?

I like that Muck Rack is easy to use and very user-friendly. I also appreciate that media lists can be directly exported as Excel files. I think Muck Rack has great customer service—they're quick to respond, and it's nice to have a human helping out. Their customer service quickly addresses and resolves any issues or glitches on the site. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Muck Rack?

One thing I would like to improve on Muck Rack is the ability to add authors to a media list from articles so that I could build a themed list. Another thing I would like is if they could export to Google Sheets or if you could personalize the export columns when you are handling media lists. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive UI and Top-Notch Support Enhance PR Efforts"
5/5
What do you like best about Muck Rack?

I really enjoyed the user interface of Muck Rack. It's very straightforward and easy to understand. Their customer service, especially through the chat, is top-notch. They are quick to respond, very pleasant to deal with, and always focused on solving issues. If they can't solve an issue immediately, they get back to me in a timely fashion after researching it further. I also really love their journalist search capability. It’s impressive how easily I can create Boolean searches. These features are incredibly helpful, making it clear where everything is and ensuring I can resolve any issues quickly. The journalist search capabilities really form the bedrock of why we use media monitoring software, enabling us to tailor pitches and reach the right people. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Muck Rack?

I've been having trouble with tagging duplicates to pitches. Basically, I have to ungroup my results, tag them all to a specific pitch, and then regroup them. It's something they're working on, but it's probably the biggest issue I have. Also, when I drill down too far in a journalist search, it can get a little upset with me, so you need to be really specific right off the bat instead of filtering several times over. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Gabrielle Smith of Muck Rack

Awesome to hear that Muck Rack has been valuable for building journalist relationships, monitoring mentions and reporting to stakeholders. Thank you for your feedback about our team's responsiveness - we will follow up!

"Highly Effective for Pitching and Monitoring, Needs Faster Load Times"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Muck Rack?

I use Muck Rack for pitching, research from our think tank, and monitoring clips where staff and fellows might be featured. It's definitely valuable and beneficial. The pitch analytics are great, letting me track open and click rates, which helps refine our outreach for personalization and effectiveness. Monitoring clips is very helpful for ensuring we don't miss anything that Google News might miss. The accuracy and the ability to scrape the Internet are more valuable compared to Google News. The setup was very seamless, and we had great support from representatives. Overall, Muck Rack is extremely effective and makes a world of difference compared to colleagues who don't use it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Muck Rack?

I've had an issue with pitch open rates being low when they come from me, compared to when they're from colleagues. With colleagues, we see a 90 plus percent open rate, but mine only get 25 to 30%. I fear some of my emails might be going to spam, though I'm not sure if it's a Muck Rack issue, but it's something I'd like resolved. Also, the interface can be a little slow, like taking twenty seconds to load the name of one reporter. Faster load times would be nice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Eliza Castillo of Muck Rack

Thanks for the thoughtful review. We’re glad Muck Rack is helping your team improve pitching, monitor coverage more effectively and uncover mentions that traditional news searches might miss. It’s especially great to hear the pitch analytics and monitoring capabilities are helping refine outreach and demonstrate value across your organization.

We appreciate your feedback on deliverability and platform speed and we’ll pass this feedback along to our product team. If you’re concerned about email placement or spam filtering, our support team can help review setup and best practices with you. We’re also rolling out performance improvements this month focused on faster load times across the platform. Thanks again for sharing your experience.

"Efficient Media PR Tool with Excellent Support"
4/5
What do you like best about Muck Rack?

I use Muck Rack mainly to find journalists to pitch and to discover trends in media coverage, which is particularly valuable in my role as a PR representative. I like that it is easy to use, and the support function is quick and responsive. I appreciate their dashboards which allow me to bring different searches together to create a holistic view of a topic and compare different shared voice or sentiment searches for a fuller picture of media conversations. The journalist search functionality is also essential for reaching out to journalists for pitching. Additionally, the initial setup was pretty easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Muck Rack?

I think there could be more transparency in how Muck Rack constructs their word clouds. They use their own proprietary algorithm to define the value of the words and rank them, and it would be helpful if they shared more about how this value is applied. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Eliza Castillo of Muck Rack

Thanks for the thoughtful review. We’re glad Muck Rack is helping you uncover media trends, build meaningful dashboards and find the right journalists for your outreach. It’s great to hear the platform is giving you a more complete view of media conversations and that our support team has been there when you need us.

We appreciate your feedback on word cloud transparency and we’ll pass this feedback along to our product team. Better explaining how our visualizations are generated is valuable feedback, especially for teams using them to inform strategic decisions. Thanks again for sharing your experience.

"Reporter Search and List-Building Tool"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Muck Rack?

I like that I am able to quickly search contact information for reporters and view recent stories they have covered. It helps me determine if they are a good fit for our pitch. The ability to create lists ahead of a launch allows me to manage my time and be ready to assist my team when needed. Being able to come back to these long term projects when I have time is a huge bonus to this service. It is also incredibly easy to add a new team member to our account during the onboarding process for new hires. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Muck Rack?

When you use the chat feature, it says the team will get back to you in 30 minutes but it often responds just to tell you its been passed on to research and by the time the research team gets back to me hours or days later, the information is usually no longer needed because I have had to move on and make a decision. This frustrates me as timely results are critical. The integration of AI could be utilized better for analyzing social media for job changes. Muck Rack is not always up to date with job changes in the industry despite reporters posting about their career moves. It is SO slow to load anytime you open the browser or move from list to list. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Eliza Castillo of Muck Rack

Thanks for the thoughtful review. We’re glad Muck Rack is helping you quickly find the right reporters, evaluate fit through recent coverage and stay organized with list building. It’s great to hear onboarding new team members has been smooth as well.

We appreciate your feedback on response times, contact freshness and performance. Timely data is critical for outreach. If you spot outdated roles, you can click “Request update” on the profile to flag it for our data team. We’re also continuing to strengthen our Media Intelligence capabilities to better reflect real-time journalist activity, including job changes shared across channels. We’ll pass your feedback along to our product team.

Thanks again for sharing your experience.

"Essential PR Tool with Robust Media Database"
5/5
What do you like best about Muck Rack?

I love the extensive media database that Muck Rack offers, making it easy to search for specific people, topics, and outlets to find the most relevant contacts to pitch. I appreciate the information about the AI visibility of each outlet, which is more important to understand than ever. The initial setup was easy, which was a big plus. We switched to Muck Rack because it provided better information on media contacts and outlets than any of their competitors. I primarily use Muck Rack for media research, pitching, media monitoring, and reporting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Muck Rack?

I wish there was more built-in reporting on client AI visibility without having to purchase add-ons. I would like basic AI visibility reporting included as part of a regular coverage report. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Eliza Castillo of Muck Rack

Thanks for the thoughtful review. We’re glad the database, AI visibility insights and alerts are helping you move quickly across research, pitching and monitoring. It’s great to hear Muck Rack is delivering stronger contact and outlet data for your team.

We appreciate your feedback on AI visibility reporting. Expanding how those insights show up in standard reporting is an important area for us. We’ll pass this feedback along to our product team. In the meantime, many teams are using these insights alongside coverage reports to better demonstrate visibility and competitive positioning.
