## About MSP360 Backup
MSP360 Managed Backup is a centralized backup platform for managed service providers and IT teams. It covers multiple clients, platforms, and workloads from a single web console - no on-premises infrastructure needed. Deploy agents remotely, configure backup plans, track job status in real time, and handle issues without site visits. The platform supports the full range of environments MSPs work with: - File-level and image-based backup for Windows, macOS, and Linux desktops and servers - Virtual machine backup for VMware (vSphere 6.0+), Hyper-V, and Proxmox - SQL Server backup and application-aware (VSS-based) backup - Local, cloud, and hybrid destinations, including NAS and network shares MSP360 Managed Backup works on a bring-your-own-storage model - connect your preferred provider and keep full control over costs and data residency. Supported storage includes Amazon S3, Microsoft Azure, Wasabi, Backblaze B2, Google Cloud, and IDrive e2. No proprietary storage required. Security and compliance are covered at every level: - AES 256-bit encryption in transit and at rest - Object Lock (immutability) to protect backups from ransomware and deletion - Two-factor authentication and role-based access control - GFS retention policies and versioning - Audit logging and scheduled reporting Group endpoints by company, apply policies in bulk, and configure alerts and reports per client. White-labeling lets MSPs deliver the platform under their own brand. Native integration with MSP360 RMM gives teams a unified view of endpoint health and backup status in one console. PSA integrations include ConnectWise PSA and Autotask for billing automation and ticketing, and HaloPSA for asset sync and remote access. Recovery options include bare-metal restore, granular file and folder recovery, and restore to dissimilar hardware or virtual machines.

## MSP360 Backup Reviews
  ### 1. MSP360 Managed Backup: Simple, Cost-Effective, and Rock-Solid Reliable

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jamie G. | Information Technology Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2026

**What do you like best about MSP360 Backup?**

I like MSP360 Managed Backup because it strikes a great balance between simplicity, cost, and reliability. The platform is very easy to set up and manage, making day-to-day backup tasks straightforward without a lot of overhead. It’s also a cost‑effective solution, particularly for MSP environments where scaling needs to stay affordable.
Most importantly, it’s reliable — backups run consistently, and restores work when you need them. On top of that, their support is excellent; when you do need help, it’s responsive and genuinely useful. Overall, it’s a solid, no-fuss backup solution that does exactly what it’s supposed to do.

**What do you dislike about MSP360 Backup?**

One downside to MSP360 Managed Backup is that it doesn’t offer the same level of granular control over backup settings as some other, more advanced platforms. For users who want to fine-tune every aspect of their backup jobs, policies, and retention rules, this can feel a bit limited.
That said, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The more streamlined approach reduces complexity and makes the platform much easier to manage on a day-to-day basis. In many cases, having fewer overly technical options actually helps avoid misconfiguration and keeps things running smoothly, which can be a big advantage in busy MSP environments.

**What problems is MSP360 Backup solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MSP360 Backup solves the problem of delivering a modern, reliable backup solution without the high costs and operational overhead that often come with more complex platforms. Many traditional backup systems require significant investment in both licensing and ongoing management, which can be difficult to justify for clients.
By being more cost-effective, MSP360 allows us to provide a robust backup solution at a lower price point. This makes it much easier to position to clients, as they’re getting a modern, professional-grade service without feeling like they’re overpaying. In turn, that helps improve client satisfaction and makes backup an easier conversation commercially.
It also significantly reduces the amount of upkeep required. Unlike other platforms that need frequent tuning, maintenance, or infrastructure management, MSP360 is fairly low-maintenance. This means less time spent managing the backup environment and more time focusing on other areas of support, while still having confidence that backups are running as expected.

  ### 2. Effortless Backup with MSP360: Secure, Intuitive, Reliable

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Allan L. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2026

**What do you like best about MSP360 Backup?**

I love the ease of setup with MSP360 Backup; The visual feedback feature really stands out for me, as it allows me to see which files are being processed and the status of each file. This feature, along with the prompts via popup windows, gives me control over how my files are managed. I'm also happy that MSP360 Backup provides a secure place to store my personal files, both locally, on my NAS, and in the cloud, ensuring file protection. Overall, I am very satisfied with MSP360 Backup, and I haven't noticed any problems. A few problems were encountered during setup, and the support team was instrumental in solving the issues. They responded within 24 hours and always had an available solution. I will stick with this product because (1) it is an extremely valuable product and (2) the support team was always there for me. Kudos.

**What do you dislike about MSP360 Backup?**

I have nothing negative to say regarding the product.

**What problems is MSP360 Backup solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use MSP360 Backup for hybrid backup of server files, providing a secure storage place via local NAS and cloud for protection. I like the ease of setup and visual feedback, with prompts and popups showing file processing status, making everything clear and straightforward.

  ### 3. Great Free Backup Tool with Minimal Limits—Worth Upgrading

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 26, 2026

**What do you like best about MSP360 Backup?**

It's great that you can use their free version with limitations, but even then the limitation are minimal depending on what you want to do with their backup tool. I have used the free version for over a year and now want more capabilities, so I am subscribing to their yearly plan.

**What do you dislike about MSP360 Backup?**

Some of the wording and setup is a bit different than your standard backup software, but after an hour of setting things up, understanding how AWS Glacier works etc. it's very simple to setup and it just runs at the schedule you defined.

**What problems is MSP360 Backup solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using MSP allows me to ditch my old backup software as it didn't support cloud destinations, that's where MSP shines, I can backup to my external USB drives and also keep a backup copy in AWS Glacier in case a catastrophic event occurred and lost my on prem backups, I have a secure cloud backup to restore from.

  ### 4. MSP360 has been a game changer in terms of centralized management!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Troy S. | IT Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2026

**What do you like best about MSP360 Backup?**

Centralized management of a large number of customers' backups from a single management console. Also, their customer service and response time is absolutely excellent! Their support reps seem very knowledgeable and are easy to work with!

**What do you dislike about MSP360 Backup?**

They don't offer a way to do full system image backups of Linux systems, only file level backups. Also, if you do an image backup of a Windows computer that is still a legacy system running MBR and want to restore to a newer computer that has an NVMe drive and is UEFI, it's an absolute nightmare, if not almost impossible.

**What problems is MSP360 Backup solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were formerly resellers for Carbonite. While Carbonite is very easy to install and use [from an end user perspective], there is no easy, centralized management dashboard that allows you to effectively monitor backups for a large number of users. We have had to rely on customers calling us if the system tray icon changes or indicates some kind of warning. Most people don't even notice it, especially if they upgraded to Windows 11 (which is a whole different nightmare) where Windows hides most of your service icons under an arrow. So, some customers could go for weeks or months without having a current backup because they didn't notice their software wasn't updating or working properly. Having this management console and regular email alerts has been a game changer.

  ### 5. Challenging Setup, Potential Ransomware Solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Holmes S. | Dole proprietoe, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2026

**What do you like best about MSP360 Backup?**

I found the initial setup of MSP360 Backup to be very easy. I just ran it, and it installed without any issues, which was fine for me.

**What do you dislike about MSP360 Backup?**

I'm having trouble getting MSP360 Backup to work right. When I downloaded it, it couldn't load the Microsoft redistributable VSS, and I'm getting an error saying it can't find one of the DLLs. I've searched for the DLL, it's there, and I reregistered it, but it didn't help. I went to support, and they gave me a tool to run, but it didn't do anything. Some of the tools that seem like they should help are only available on a higher version, which costs $30 a year if you don't leave a review, or $15 a year if you do. I'm having trouble getting the VOSS to work because it can't find the DLL even though I registered it. I redownloaded the software and the redistributable, reinstalled, and ensured the DLL was present, but the tool provided by support just resulted in a blinking cursor.

**What problems is MSP360 Backup solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm hoping MSP360 Backup will solve my worries about ransomware by providing better protection than my previous backup program.

**Official Response from John Smith:**

> Thanks for your detailed feedback - really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. I’m sorry to hear about the issues you’ve been running into with the VSS component. That definitely shouldn’t be happening.

To help us investigate this properly and avoid any back-and-forth, could you please share your support case number? I’d like to review what’s already been done and make sure we get this resolved for you as quickly as possible.

  ### 6. Flexible, Reliable Backups with Clean Interface and Strong Scheduling Control

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** kartik T. | Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2026

**What do you like best about MSP360 Backup?**

Msp360 backup is very flexible and reliable. The interface is clean and straight forward, making it easy to setup backup for multiple systems. I especially like the wide range of supported storage options and the control over backup scheduling. It gives a peace of mind because I know that my data is safe and I can easily recover it when needed. The interface is clean for setting backup for multiple servers, workstation. It supports wide range of storage options from cloud services to local drives . another main feature I personally like is the granular control over which files and folders to backup, which helps me optimize storage.

**What do you dislike about MSP360 Backup?**

Msp360 is very reliable tool but there are few areas that needs more improvement. The initial setup for more complex environments can feel a bit overwhelming, especially when dealing with multiple storage providers. The interface can feel a little clunky when navigating between different systems or accounts . Certain advance features like image based backups or granular restores , could be more streamlined to make them more faster and easier to manage. Notifications are usefull but the dashboard could be more dynamic or customizable to quickly highlight issues or trends across backups

**What problems is MSP360 Backup solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me manage backups for multiple servers and cloud storage from single platform. It gives me peace of mind because it's automated and scheduled backups ensure that our critical data is always secure. I can choose what to backup and when , optimising storage use and saving cost. Notifications and reports alert me to potential problems early why prevent my data loss. It restores files , folders and entire system quickly, minimizing downtime during emergency. It has end to end encryption so my data is encrypted and safe during transfer and storage . It has very good customer support that helps very well in troubleshooting and makes setup easier.

  ### 7. Flexible, Secure Hybrid Backups with No Vendor Lock-In

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2026

**What do you like best about MSP360 Backup?**

Flexible cloud storage options – It supports many cloud providers (Amazon S3, Microsoft Azure, are what we used)

No vendor lock-in – Because storage is separate from the backup software, you are not tied to a single vendor’s ecosystem.

Highly customizable backups – Scheduling, scripting, encryption, compression, and detailed logging allow very granular control over backup jobs.

Strong security features – Supports AES-128/192/256 encryption, immutability, and object-lock protection to help defend against ransomware and unauthorized access.

Hybrid backup capability – Supports local, cloud, or hybrid backups, including file-level and image-based backups with multiple restore options.

**What do you dislike about MSP360 Backup?**

It can have a bit of a learning curve – The platform offers many configuration options, which can make the initial setup and ongoing management complicated for new users.

Limited built-in disaster recovery features – It lacks some advanced enterprise capabilities like automated failover or instant VM recovery found in other backup platforms.

**What problems is MSP360 Backup solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We now have reliable backups that can be easily and granularly restored.

  ### 8. Effective, Feature-Rich Backup Solution with Great Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2026

**What do you like best about MSP360 Backup?**

Reliable, well supported, versatile, and cost-effective backup solution. The product has evolved and improved in many ways over the years that we have been using it.

**What do you dislike about MSP360 Backup?**

Nothing significant comes to mind. It works well.

**What problems is MSP360 Backup solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It gives us piece of mind that data is being backed up either daily or hourly so that data loss is very unlikely. Image backups also allow the restore of a system when needed. We felt that backups were important initially for the many reasons that data can be lost, but the advent of ransomware makes this yet more critical.

  ### 9. MSP360: Easy to Use, Reliable, and Worth the Subscription

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bill M. | Housing Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2026

**What do you like best about MSP360 Backup?**

Ease of use, understandable GUI, very relliable. Pricing is reasonable enough that a subscription was purchased rather than depending on freeware.

**What do you dislike about MSP360 Backup?**

I have not encountered a bad side to MSP360 yet.

**What problems is MSP360 Backup solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Windows 11 native backup utility has been failing multiple times (probably, from what I've read, an issue with an April update) and MSP360 enabled me to complete a backup.

  ### 10. Reliable Backup Solution with Easy Recovery

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Saimun A.

**Reviewed Date:** January 19, 2026

**What do you dislike about MSP360 Backup?**

One thing I’ve noticed with MSP360 Backup is that the initial setup can feel a bit technical, especially for new users. Some of the backup settings and scheduling options could be more intuitive to make everything easier to manage.

**What problems is MSP360 Backup solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use MSP360 Backup to keep our company's data safe and secure. It makes backing up files across devices and cloud services easy and ensures quick restoration during data loss or system failures.
