The naming convention of data sets is extremely inconsistent and cumbersome to work with. Market indices, for example, are often abbreviated in various ways, making it extremely difficult to search and locate specific ones, without having known how Morningstar decided to abbreviate certain words within the name. I have been greatly benefited in my professional role due to Morningstar Direct's exceptional reporting functions, which are unparalleled in my experience. The platform's superior analysis, compared to others like YCharts, significantly enhances my work. I particularly appreciate being able to upload client portfolios and perform a comprehensive X-ray analysis, which provides valuable insights. I absolutely love the Presentation Studio and the ability to run custom reports, which adds another layer of utility and professionalism to my outputs. The analysis and the updated charts and outlooks from analysts in Direct Compass are invaluable for staying current; they are up-to-date and highly useful. Additionally, I'm very impressed with the responsiveness and timely responses from customer service, which makes problem-solving much more manageable. I found the onboarding process very easy, with the representative answering all my questions kindly, facilitating a smooth transition to using the platform effectively. I encounter delays and loading issues occasionally, which can disrupt my workflow. Currently, I am unable to download newsletters in Direct Compass, which is frustrating. Additionally, I feel the process of uploading portfolios could be simplified; I wish the system could scan statements to upload holdings and tickers automatically. The flexibility in gathering data. Especially that the data can be tailored specifically to the currency and timeframe I'm looking for. The desktop platform does not seem very intuitive, and I have a feeling that we are not using the platform to its full potential. Whilst the platform is great for gathering data on most funds, there are funds I cannot find information on. The data available on bonds also seems limited, so when we try to analyze a portfolio that includes bonds, we may not get the full picture of the portfolio. Selecting the specific data I'm looking for can also be a bit difficult if I don't know what naming convention Morningstar is using. Looking through the categories, there are often hundreds of different data types, and scrolling through them to find the one I'm looking for can be time consuming.
