I've been in this role for six months and it's my first time using the service. Overall, I enjoy it and find it helpful. Could be a little easier to navigate. What do you dislike about Morningstar Direct? Sometimes it can be a little slow, or data won't pull through one day but will the next. So maybe some consistency. I love the breadth of data that Morningstar Direct offers. Once you know the tools, it's fairly easy to use. I really like the customer support because it's very easy to access, the team is highly knowledgeable, and they always follow up. Sometimes it is really hard to find a particular fund or benchmark. Also some data is not available based on the level of subscription. I like that Morningstar Direct includes the entire universe for comparison and offers multiple tools. I can set up templates for comparisons and save them, which is handy, especially across different categories. The initial setup was easy for me because I used it at a prior employer. Support isn't instant - you can't get a quick reply on how to do something so your work is delayed and it's a complicated package so you run into this often. What problems is Morningstar Direct solving and how is that benefiting you? It hasn't solved for much yet as I'm trying to track models and properly report on them. The incremental support and lack of how-to help makes it very tedious. If this was a cheap product, perhaps I'd understand. The 'newer' version you can click on seems better but loses functionality - so even the trainers basically don't use it. Are they getting somewhere with this?! I like the flexibility of Morningstar Direct as it allows us to use the tools via downloaded software, add-ins for tools like MS Excel, and the newer online portal that lets us use Direct through a browser. I also appreciate the hands-on help that the customer support teams provide. We enjoy the Jupyter notebook feature because coding is becoming an important competency, enabling everyday investors to combine large language model (LLM) use with their job responsibilities.
