"Morningstar Review"
5/5
What do you like best about Morningstar Direct Advisory Suite (formerly Advisor Workstation)?

What I like best about Morningstar Direct Advisory Suite is how easy it makes it to compare funds and analyze portfolios. The X-Ray tool is especially helpful for seeing what clients actually own across all their accounts and spotting any gaps or overlap. It also gives access to independent research and ratings that add credibility when showing clients why a recommendation makes sense. On top of that, the reports are clean and client-friendly, so it’s simple to present complex information in a way clients can understand. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Morningstar Direct Advisory Suite (formerly Advisor Workstation)?

The biggest drawback of Morningstar Direct Advisory Suite is that it can feel clunky and slow to navigate at times, especially when pulling detailed reports or switching between tools. The user interface isn’t very intuitive, so it takes some getting used to, and even after that, simple tasks can feel more complicated than they should. Report customization is powerful, but sometimes too rigid—you can’t always tailor the output exactly how you’d like. Finally, the cost is on the higher side, which can be hard to justify if you’re not making full use of all the features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Mark Scime - Review of Morningstar Direct Advisory Suite"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Morningstar Direct Advisory Suite (formerly Advisor Workstation)?

I like the wide breadth of funds available as well as the enormous amount of data for various performance measures as well as detailed analysis of holdings within each fund. This is easily compared to a wide number of bench marks - which can be customized by your own choosing rather then being fixed. I think the graphics, which include a lot of colour make visuals that are distinct and easy to understand. I use it frequently when preparing comparisons of performance of existing portfolios vs. recommended. It is also very easy to create a number of alternative portfolios for clients. Morningstar provides good tutorials.

The sessions were often less then 30 minutes - enabling me to build upon my existing knowledge and retain what was presented. The staff answered but questions live and if they ran out of time emailed them afterwards. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Morningstar Direct Advisory Suite (formerly Advisor Workstation)?

So of the data presented in tables is too detailed. And other times you will get detail for equity holdings - growth/value/combinted along with large/mid/small but little or nothing for the fixed income sleeves. Secondly, although it is good to be able to obtain or get to information via difficult pathways. Not all were intutitive - I found that I needed to attend some of the presentations by staff (Customer Support) to get a better utilzation of the product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Modern UI and Insightful News, But Product Search Needs Improvement"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Morningstar Direct Advisory Suite (formerly Advisor Workstation)?

Modern UI and no more opening of extra windows and modules when using Clients and Portfolio Tab and Also building Models and Hypotheticals.

I also like the news headlines as it pertains to economy, current events, and investments products. It creates a nice homepage for me to start the day and get an in-depth look at what is driving the markets.

Statement analysis within Integrations is a big time saver and very useful to analyzing client statements if the holdings are available. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Morningstar Direct Advisory Suite (formerly Advisor Workstation)?

There are still a few kinks in terms of product searches at this time. Fund Codes in Canada aren't populating all the information when doing quick comparisons and the old Research Module in AWS actually had a more intuitive data layout.

I can't seem to locate the Know Your Product Due Diligence Screener still within DAS which makes me convert back to AWS from time to time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Comprehensive Data, But limits on Downloading is Frustrating"
3/5
What do you like best about Morningstar Direct Advisory Suite (formerly Advisor Workstation)?

Morningstar has the most comprehensive coverage of Mutual funds and ETFs. The ability to see so many data points in one place is very valuable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Morningstar Direct Advisory Suite (formerly Advisor Workstation)?

The DAS is really a downgrade from what we used to have which was Morningstar Office. In MO, we could download as much as we want and there were not limits on pages. With DAS, if we have to download 900 securities & their data points, then I have to download 9 separate excel sheets and link them together manually.

I wish we could also create factsheets of our models like Direct can.

I also wish we could see rolling returns across custom time frames and compare it against other funds like we could in Morningstar Office. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Modern UI and Intuitive UX, Confusing Product Differentiation"
3/5
What do you like best about Morningstar Direct Advisory Suite (formerly Advisor Workstation)?

I like that the UI looks modern and I think the UX is rather intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Morningstar Direct Advisory Suite (formerly Advisor Workstation)?

First of all, the naming convention between products is confusing. As far as the product itself goes: It seems to do the job of replacing our uses for Morningstar Office (pulling investment lists for fund/market data, accessing fund research, and analyzing portfolio styles with look through capabilities.) The only Office feature we've not been able to replace is the transactional account reporting feature that existed in Office. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
