  ### 1. Ease of Use, But Lacks Tailored Recommendations

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kailing C.

**Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2026

**What do you like best about Monster?**

I really appreciate Monster for its ease of use, which saves time and reduces friction when posting open job positions. The initial setup was also very easy, which made getting started with Monster straightforward.

**What do you dislike about Monster?**

The job recommendations aren't as tailored as I would like, and some job postings seem outdated. Job recommendations should be tailored to job title and function.

**What problems is Monster solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Monster helps find candidates when I'm recruiting and eases job posting, saving time and reducing friction.

  ### 2. Historic Presence Doesn't Match Up to Expectations

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jan M. | Business Owner

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Monster?**

I liked that Monster had a strong historic market presence and name familiarity. We believed applicants already knew Monster and would go to them to find their next opportunity. Additionally, I found the initial setup of Monster to be simple.

**What do you dislike about Monster?**

We didn't find a single individual to hire and compared to other platforms the expense surpassed the outcome.

**What problems is Monster solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I believed Monster's name familiarity would attract applicants actively seeking opportunities.

**Official Response from Paola Valdes:**

> Hello Jan,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. As a business owner, your time and resources are incredibly valuable, and we appreciate the trust you placed in the Monster name for your hiring needs.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

  ### 7. They have to improve

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amit J. | Lead recruiter, Staffing and Recruiting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Monster?**

They do have good filtration, specaillly for Non IT Recruitment we are using this

**What do you dislike about Monster?**

They have to improve the job posting also in the power search as well

**What problems is Monster solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Non IT recruitment

  ### 8. Good on a good day...

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leo N. | Executive Recruiter, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Monster?**

Relevant candidates are loyal... they stick with you till an offer comes through but move away after several failed submissions.

**What do you dislike about Monster?**

It has a large candidate base but only a small percentage are active or relevant and most importantly interested

**What problems is Monster solving and how is that benefiting you?**

making avaialble candiates visible and available...
Basic info and resumes are avaialble for recruiters/headhunters to access and reach out to relevant canddidates

  ### 9. Can find hidden candidates which are not on any portal.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bernard N. | Talent Recruiter, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2023

**What do you like best about Monster?**

I like the UI design, its pure functional. There are two partitions, one shows the general info (candidate's name, location, current title) and the other partition shows the current resume uploaded with the candidate's job preference. This UI design makes you save time, and you quickly screen candidates and reach the right one in no time.

In my experience finding local profiles or a niche skillset is way more accessible than Dice (another portal we use at work).

**What do you dislike about Monster?**

I started noticing way more fake resumes with fake contact details, which wastes time.

Monsters still show candidates' resumes who retired or asked to remove their profile from their portal.

**What problems is Monster solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Most client requirements I work with are onsite so finding the local profile is critical for me. Monster has a massive database which solves this issue.

UI is very progressive and functional, which makes finding the right candidate easy and fast.

  ### 10. Still haven't been hired

**What do you dislike about Monster?**

I only have one dislike and that is I haven't found employment through it yet and kind of spammed

**What problems is Monster solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Na

  ### 11. Experience in using Monster

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Graphic Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2022

**What do you like best about Monster?**

I like the recommendations for jobs in specific job categories

**What do you dislike about Monster?**

I hate scammer company that take advantage to newbie

**What problems is Monster solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I think the problem is not being safe at sometimes to this platform yet It's very much useful in search jobs. I never being hired using this platform

  ### 12. It’s okay. Does it’s job but doesn’t overdo it I guess

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Management Consulting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2018

**Describe the project or task Monster helped with:**

Use monster daily for posting job and sourcing through the resume database

**What do you like best about Monster?**

I like the search options in the database just wish I got good new resumes every once in a while

**What do you dislike about Monster?**

I get the same candidates applying to evEryjib and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen everyone in the entire database at this point.

**Recommendations to others considering Monster:**

Check out all your database options and look at what type of jobs you’re trying to get candidates from

  ### 13. Good for entry level roles

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amanda I. | Senior Recruiter, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2017

**Describe the project or task Monster helped with:**

This product allows you to post jobs and search for candidates that have posted their profiles to the site. It also will allow you to reach out to those candidates within the website and manage candidates from there. It also have an API key for some ATS's that make it easier to import candidates. Overall, this product helps to get candidates into the pipeline.

**What do you like best about Monster?**

I like that it allows me to reach a larger amount of candidates than posting just to my careers page. It also allows me to search through their candidate base, and has filters that are easy to use to help narrow your search. They also will rate the candidates you source on a 1-10 scale as to how closely they match the job description.

**What do you dislike about Monster?**

I don't typically use this solution for a lot of my hiring and sourcing because I typically can't find higher level individuals on this site. This site does not allow for Boolean searching, which also makes it more difficult to narrow the search when you do decide to use the platform.

**Recommendations to others considering Monster:**

Monster does provide a good service, but you have to expect a certain type of candidate to apply going in.

  ### 14. Great depending on need

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 14, 2017

**Describe the project or task Monster helped with:**

Monster is a job board that you can either post your role on to get applicants or source and look at applicants for a role you have open.

**What do you like best about Monster?**

When I recruited for a more skilled labor set I used monster a lot and actually found a good amount of candidates through the search. I felt like the system was was easy to sort through and find candidates that were relevant. I like that it's a job board regardless I can post on and hope to be connected with the right candidate and get my job more exposure.

**What do you dislike about Monster?**

I do not find that there are a lot of new grad technology resumes on the site comparable to other sites. I work in a different industry now and find that there are less relevant job seekers for the roles that I am searching for.l

**Recommendations to others considering Monster:**

I think it really depends on what talent pool you are looking to connect with. I find that a more skilled labor force tend to put their resumes on Monster.

  ### 15. Great account manager and easy to use recruiting platform.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tricia B. | Director of Operations, Lifecycle & MSD Services, Staffing and Recruiting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2017

**Describe the project or task Monster helped with:**

Great job board, with great search and posting capabilities.

**What do you like best about Monster?**

This tool is very easy to use. From posting to candidate searching. Training is always available.

**What do you dislike about Monster?**

i wish response rate to jobs was better. Sometimes the rate is low or the candidate match is low.

  ### 16. I use monster to find people job seeking

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Logan S. | Associate Recruiter, Staffing and Recruiting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 25, 2017

**Describe the project or task Monster helped with:**

It allows me to use keywords to find people with certain skillsets.

**What do you like best about Monster?**

Using key words to review resumes of candidates

**What do you dislike about Monster?**

The candidates that come up are not always current profiles

  ### 17. Monster is meh

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2017

**Describe the project or task Monster helped with:**

I'm a Sr. Technical Recruiter; my company uses job boards like Monster and its competitors to source talent, post openings, and research the talent market more broadly. Monster doesn't completely fall on its face, but it also doesn't have a specialty to compare with the competitors. CareerBuilder and Indeed have huge (broad and deep) numbers of resumes to search. IT specific boards like Dice or GitHub have more effective/relevant search results. LinkedIn offers the greatest amount of information per person. So on and so forth. Monster is behind all of these companies in these areas. Have I found someone to place for an opening on Monster? Yes. But not nearly as many or as easily as with these other options.

**What do you like best about Monster?**

Simple interface made it easy to use most of the time.

**What do you dislike about Monster?**

Simple interface is there because it is a simple functionality--search results weren't consistently accurate to the parameters, candidate resumes often were put in by middle-man companies, zip code filters weren't effective in sorting geographically, etc.

**Recommendations to others considering Monster:**

Look at other options first. Most others will offer better ROI.

  ### 18. Expensive for Results

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2017

**Describe the project or task Monster helped with:**

Post jobs on Monster to attract great technology candidates across Canada.

**What do you like best about Monster?**

Easy to put in place job placements across Canada.

**What do you dislike about Monster?**

Posting jobs on Monster used to be productive but now they are not very effective (lack of qualified candidates) and the cost is becoming prohibitive. Not as effective for tech customers.

**Recommendations to others considering Monster:**

Easy to use but not so good at getting qualified candidates.

  ### 19. Gets the job done.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Katrin K. | Human Resources Manager, Higher Education, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2017

**Describe the project or task Monster helped with:**

Job posting for various junior STEM positions.

**What do you like best about Monster?**

I liked how easy to use the platform was, and that pricing was competitive.

**What do you dislike about Monster?**

In my experience, despite of being easy to use, it took a while to format the posting until it looked ready.

  ### 20. Monster Didn't Get the Job Done

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Transportation/Trucking/Railroad | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2017

**Describe the project or task Monster helped with:**

Wanted to hire CDL/A Drivers - didn't get one application through our paid ad. Very disappointed.

**What do you like best about Monster?**

Easy to use & widely known but didn't work for the position we had available.

**What do you dislike about Monster?**

There really isn't anything that I don't like.

**Recommendations to others considering Monster:**

Monster is good for many positions - just not truck drivers.

  ### 21. Talent acquisition tool

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cheryl A. | Recruiting Manager, Staffing and Recruiting, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2017

**Describe the project or task Monster helped with:**

Have used Monster for over 10 years. Good for lower skilled labor openings.

**What do you like best about Monster?**

It has a far reaching candidate base due to its long time in business. Well branded.

**What do you dislike about Monster?**

The search form is not as user friendlier as similar products

**Recommendations to others considering Monster:**

Monster has a long reputation in staffing and covers a very wide variety of skills and expertise of candidates. The chances of you NOT finding good matches for staffing needs is quite low.

  ### 22. Monster Review

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2017

**Describe the project or task Monster helped with:**

I use Monster to help assist in my candidate search when recruiting on jobs. I use it to post all of my jobs and will sometimes search the resume database for harder to fill roles. I've also used the site to review job trends in the area.

**What do you like best about Monster?**

I like the ability to connect with candidates very easily. Monster also send periodic emails about trends in the industry, tips for hiring, etc. The site is very easy to navigate as well.

**What do you dislike about Monster?**

For hard to fill/niche roles, this isn't the best place to go. I have more success finding entry-level/mid-level candidates. The database doesn't have the best resumes to choose from.
