"Good cross-platform IDE for .net and Unity development"
What do you like best about Monodevelop?

This IDE is free and can help you develop with .net on various platforms, in addition to assisting you with your Unity or C# projects. You can use it on several operating systems; the one I use is Linux, and it is perfectly compatible. It is quite similar to Visual Studio, so if you are familiar with it, it won't be difficult for you to learn to use Monodevelop. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Monodevelop?

Sometimes auto-formatting can cause errors, it's not very well done. The program loads quite slowly compared to others like Visual Studio. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Good alternative IDE"
What do you like best about Monodevelop?

Simple IDE for programming in C#. Another thing to always keep in mind is that it is free and open source. It is perfect for people who want to start programming games in UNITY. The interface is pleasant at first and you can modify it more to your liking. I know people who also program in Java and they are happy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Monodevelop?

It could be better optimized, sometimes it runs very slowly and it's not the first time it crashes, although fortunately projects are saved automatically. A greater variety of macros to speed up the process would also be appreciated, although you can always create them yourself. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Free and very fast IDE "
What do you like best about Monodevelop?

I used MonoDevelop with unity 5 on my mac. Writing C# scripts is very easy on it and it takes nanoseconds to start. It shows errors while writing the code and give autocompletion suggestions as well. It is very stable and never crashes on the Mac. It doesn't have lots of features but it's really fast. MonoDevelop is being replaced with the visual studio. Unity has compatible with Visual Studio now in 2018 Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Monodevelop?

Auto-correction sometimes messes my code. Can't use it for other purposes like HTML and C++ coding. I personally don't like the user Interface of MonoDevelop. I use sublime text 3, XCode and Visual Studio for me it's very basic and small. It should have more features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"One of the best for .NET"
What do you like best about Monodevelop?

Compare to others, this doesn't use that many resources of the computer, so this is super useful for developing .NET based apps. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Monodevelop?

I used it a lot for game development, but it stopped support for Unity, so this is a let down for now. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Loose IDE and really useful!"
What do you like best about Monodevelop?

It is unbuttoned, multiplatform, has an excellent user interface, specific libraries, and has many capabilities that encompass full debugging and deployment, plus it has excellent integration with Unity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Monodevelop?

From time to time, it loads slowly, it is not very well integrated with the .Internet framework (I recommend having the contemporary version) and it is not as easily distributable as local packages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Developing C# in an Open Source Environment is Great"
What do you like best about Monodevelop?

I'm a Linux user whose strongest programming language is C#, so having a full-featured, open source IDE that runs on all the distros I use is great. Debugging is a lot better than Mono's CLI run-time debugging. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Monodevelop?

I wish it could open WPF projects, even if just to edit them. Better integration with ASP.net hosting providers would be nice, too. Debugging is unfortunately not on par with VisualStudio or even VSCode, although you can go back and forth between this and VS Code quite easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Good IDE for Unity"
What do you like best about Monodevelop?

It can be used with Unity easily, it links very quickly. It is open source, free, and available on multiple platforms, and it also auto-completes the code for you. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Monodevelop?

It's a bit slow, sometimes the file explorer doesn't update and it has some issues with the .net framework that leave much to be desired. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Good platform to develop with .NET"
What do you like best about Monodevelop?

The best thing is to be able to use all the positives of the .NET environment, such as developing and debugging. It has a good user interface, and it is also free to download and use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Monodevelop?

Some of the macros are not working correctly. Also, regarding the formatting values, it works in a strange way, not as well as it should. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simple and light IDE"
What do you like best about Monodevelop?

It's a light platform that works on both linux and windows, which is great when everyone is not on the same OS. The best thing to me is the simplicity of its layout and the fact that is it super easy to link it with Unity. I coded only in C# with it and it was an overall good experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Monodevelop?

Now that Visual Studio Code is out, it is very hard for this kind of IDE to stay really attractive. So I would say the lack of features. Even if the integration with Unity is easy and all, there is still some issues and bugs with it and this could be improved . Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
