Founded in 2019 as DebtBook to help the public sector manage its debt, the company grew with its customers, adding lease and subscription accounting for GASB 87, GASB 96, and ASC 842, then cash and investment management. In 2026, it became Monetary, a name that reflects the full scope of that work. Monetary TMS unifies debt, cash, and investments in one system of record, connected to the accounting and policy standards public finance teams are held to. Monetary Markets is being developed to extend that foundation to the bankers and municipal advisors who serve those organizations, combining comprehensive public market data with each firm's proprietary information. Intelligence runs through the whole platform. Each morning, dashboards give finance teams an executive-level view of their position across cash, debt, and investments, with AI callouts that flag anomalies, idle cash, and upcoming obligations. Marty, Monetary's AI analyst, is designed to work across both products, answering questions in plain language, from where the cash position stands to what a refunding would save. Every insight links back to a deterministic system of record, and every action requires human approval. More than 2,000 government and nonprofit organizations in all 50 states run on Monetary, with $600 billion in managed par.
