The functionality across the platform is really good. We liked monday as it integrated easily with Teams and some of our internal platforms. The performance and load times are pretty good as well. The AI tools so far have been underwhelming as its not as helpful as expected. Pricing is decent. I've had the worst experience with the accounts team. I've literally been following up for months now trying to get our team access to the platform but I'm being ghosted. For example dependencies in project timelines do not function correctly - they have to be set up after you have input all of the tasks and then manually calculated all the start end dates of each task and the subsequent tasks (which is kind of a major part of creating dependencis so you can calculate the critical path). You can't do that with Monday. If you don't input all the data in the correct way that Monday wants you to do that - which is not in line with any conventional project management methods. The Dependecies will not work for any tasks even if you have only entered one task differently from the way Monday wants you to do it. MS Project for example enables you to enter a succession of tasks, then link the dependencies, attribute a duration for each dependency and set the start date of the first task. It then calculates the critical path for you taking into account working days weekends manually entered holidays and public holidays. Monday cannot do this. Furthermore, Monday cannot cope with holidays, you can only set the working days in the week (which annoyingly it defaults to Sunday being the first day of the working week). You cannot highlight that a certain day in the year is a public holiday, you can't even manually block it out in a project plan. You have to set a work around so that any tasks falling over that day you manually add in an additional work day to allow for it. However should the timeline prior to that date shift - and you have managed to set up the dependencies according to Monday's strange way of working - you then have to find the tasks/subtasks that now stretch over the public holidays and not only manually add in extra working days to 'hack' Monday's inability to allow for a public holiday, you also have to go and find the previous tasks that now no longer fall over the public holiday and readjust them. Really frustrating when you have one public holiday in your project time line, now imagine how much fun that is for a project that stretches over several public holidays. Not only can Monday not cope with public holidays it's utterly screwed should anyone in the project team have the audacity to take a holiday or be ill and not able to work. This is but two critical pieces of project management that Monday cannot cope with there are at least another 7-8 issues that we have encountered with it's mangled setup. In essence Monday is great if you want to create a chart with coloured squares on it, in a web interface. But it's project management capabilities are on par with colouring squares in Excel, except working in that manner you can at least block out a column that is a public holiday. Then it comes to support... this is non existent, unless you're happy with a useless millenial sending you 👋🏻 😁 and 👍🏻 emojies and nothing else (which to be quite frank simply results in a 🤦🏻‍♂️ 🤯 and 🖕🏻). **Official Response from Brianna Hidalgo:** > Hi there Simon, we understand that some of the limitations around dependencies and timelines caused some friction for you in the projects you planned to build on monday. Dark and light theme natively is nice. Having the ability to automate, do different workspaces, and see things at a glance is nice. But there are some MAJOR issues overall with it as a true CRM or Project Management tool. **What do you dislike about monday AI Work Platform?** EVERYTHING seems to need an app or integration (3rd party) to make real use of Monday.com. Doing this causes a certain number of "actions" to occur. Sometimes such small things quickly eat up thousands of actions and then your account essentially gets frozen. Same thing with automations, barely doing something triggers so many little micro automations that you blow past the 25,000 on Pro doing minimal automating. What really grinds my gears is that when you do get basically forced to upgrade to Enterprise, there is NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT PHONE NUMBER to be found. People in chat are slow to respond, and then bounce you around cause they can't give a straight answer. If you want someone to actually respond, good luck. I'm told 3-5 business days to be able to upgrade, but when locked out because of actions or automations triggering, you're toast. Not only will it take forever, they keep sending the same garbage emails saying someone will eventually reach out, whether you do CHAT or EMAIL or FORM. It's awful. Their automations are also super limited. If you want something like an IF/THEN statement before running an automation, it's basically impossible. You can try to do it through a workflow, but then it doesn't even work properly because they only give you certain automation choices depending on which way you try to automate things. The number of apps you need to do BASIC things is mindblowing. If you want a "timeline" to work properly with start/end dates, you need an app. Then you have to pay for more apps separately. Everything seems super poorly thought out, which is a shame, because Salesforce is much cleaner and all built in, but just costlier. I guess you get what you pay for, but even on Enterprise, you're not saving much money vs competitors. Even costs more than some better options. It's okay at some things like visuals, but they're not easy to build into widgets for some strange reason. There's nothing intuitive when trying to build processes out. I would personally NOT recommend this to anyone who wants to successfully run their business from a Sales and Project Management perspective. **What problems is monday AI Work Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?** Only real thing they're solving is the high level, at a glance status view of things. But it doesn't work efficiently as a Sales CRM or as a Project Management tool. ### 19. My new subscription has increased by over 30%. I cannot justify the cost and need to find an alternative. **What problems is monday AI Work Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed a system to pull together all the task/project management systems we were using to manage client projects. When we saw how user friendly and easy monday.com was to use, we dispensed with all the other systems. You can customise it to work for any company and my dealings with their support have been very positive. It's advertised as a project management tool but you only get their basic 'work OS' included and have to pay extra for their Projects app, which isn't mentioned anywhere on the site. On their site, they advertise it as a complete project management tool but when I queried this with their support team, they said you get a basic project management template for Work OS but that's not how they advertise the platform. When you look at their pricing, it sounds like you get everything for one decent price but then you have to pay extra for CRM & Projects (there are more). For just these 2 products (+ the work OS, which is like a to-do list) it cost £90 a month for just 3 seats. This isn't mentioned ANYWHERE on their pricing table. We would gladly pay that amount if it meant having everything on one platform and having all tools talking to each other but you have to manually implement a load of automations in order to get this to work. This sounds fine on the surface but what happens if one of the automations breaks down? You might have 10-30 live projects. Can't invite other users who have accounts without taking more "members" than your boards allow. My finance team blew a gasket at the "auto-upgrade" feature when you add members to a board and exceed your limits. Not intuitive methods for mangaging users and members. Taxonomy is confusing. Members are seats, guests may be something else, I am still not sure, and viewers are free but all the invitation models use guests and members instead of viewer options. Invite too many members to a board, and you'll get auto-upgraded, which is only authorized deep in the terms and conditions. We started using Monday on a free trial as a tool to manage projects with clients so that they had visibility to projects without having to buy expensive SFAnywhere licenses, and that would conform to clients' security requirements. That's the only benefit we realized, but not at the expense of the confusion and administrative gaps above. The communication features work well. **What do you dislike about monday AI Work Platform?** I've recently had to set up a project template on Monday and I'm baffled by how much the usability is lacking o this front. When creating a template, there's simply no way to input the number of days to each task; you have to set imaginary dates using the painful calendar interface on the timeline column. LOTS of clicking around - it is exhausting - and while project dates progress, the calendar feature keeps opening on the starting month of the whole timeline. Gantt and calendar views are only that: VIEWS. When I tried to drag and move things around on both of them, everything became a mess (I'm talking about tasks suddenly changing to the year 1960!). Don't try to use these to set stuff up; you'll have to start everything from scratch. Basically, to set up and implement, Monday a click exhausting fancy spreadsheet. If you want something that is intuitive and easy to set up, go look somewhere else. Also, the time tracking functionality is crazy draconian. Users MUST press play while executing the task or input an exact time and day to account for worked hours. And when the problem is not solved, the back and forth just continues with no solution in sight. The most inefficient tech support system I have ever seen. Rather than escalating an issue to a higher tier level tech who can probably resolve expeditiously via a call / screen share, we have been stuck, unable to use a very important board, and going back and forth with them for weeks now. Even after the issue was supposedly kicked up to the development team and supposedly “solved”, apparently they didn’t even bother to test it. So, their email was - OK. you should be all set, please go ahead and test the functionality. I do. Only to find that the problem is still there and when I make the tech support team aware, BIG SURPRISE, they request another screen shot via email and now the back and forth email cycle begins yet again. Crazy!!! When we initially signed up with Monday, I was able to place a call and get someone on the line to answer questions and get help, quickly resolving any complex issue. Now, over a year later and after investing significant time and resources on integrating Monday’s functionality into our Business processes, it is extremely frustrating to be left at the mercy of their horrible tech support. If we had to make the decision all over again, we would have passed on Monday back when we initially had the opportunity to sign up. **Recommendations to others considering monday AI Work Platform:** Investing time & resources into a system that your business, processes & employees come to rely on, just to find that there is no reliable support available to you in case of breakdown and you can literally find your operations come to screeching halt. Overall I guess it's good for management to be able to track what we are working on, but overall I think that it's an easy platform to get swept under the rug by other things and it's easy to forget what you have to update on there. The mobile application could improve more. I would like to customise frontend elements, mainly elements that is unused. It would be nice to disable elements that are invasive. I am been picky with my dislikes. Overall the application works really well. **Recommendations to others considering monday AI Work Platform:** Trial the product first before buying. I would always recommend contacting monday directly, if you want to extend your trial for another few extra days. Monday are extremely accommodating when it comes to this. I would certainly compare this with an alternative which is Pipe drive. It really helps with our communication with our staff members. Communications in Monday certainly help the team engage better with day-to-day work.
