I like how easy it is to create dashboards without any training, and how it integrates signals from multiple places. It helped us see how people were using our product and by building journeys via dashboards we were able to see how features were performing and how people arrived at those features. I'm sure it has gotten more sophisticated since I used it, and we were on a lower-priced plan, so I'm not sure all of the features that may have been offered, but I found it relatively basic at the time but that's what we needed. AI hadn't yet been integrated into everything. We were a startup - it was a good product to fit our needs without needing excessive Dev support and it was the right price. What stands out most about Mixpanel is how accessible it makes deep product analytics. First, the setup process was incredibly easy; we were able to integrate it and start tracking our core events in no time. Once you are in the platform, the dashboards are crystal clear and highly intuitive, making it easy to share data across different teams. I also love how simple it is to build custom reports. You don't need to know SQL to get answers to complex questions, the drag-and-drop interface allows you to build funnels, retention charts, and user flows in seconds. Finally, the flexible data structure is a massive advantage. Because it is event-based, it easily adapts to our specific business model and allows us to pass whatever custom properties and traits we need without feeling boxed in. We have had absolutely no issues implementing, deploying, or using the platform on a daily basis. The entire experience has been smooth and seamless for our team from day one. Mixpanel solves the fundamental problem of understanding user behavior across our entire ecosystem. We use it across both our web and desktop products, which gives us a comprehensive, unified view of our user base. The biggest benefit is that it allows us to truly understand our audience, who they are, and more importantly, exactly what they do once they are in the product. We have it set up to map out basic user flows, track success milestones, and pinpoint exact failure points or drop-offs. Because of this, Mixpanel bridges a crucial gap for us: it functions not just as a great, reliable analytics tool, but as a fantastic source of actionable product insight that helps us continuously improve our user experience. Mixpanel’s event-based tracking gives us an incredibly granular view of real-time user behavior. Building complex conversion funnels and retention cohorts takes just a few clicks without needing SQL. The intuitive UI allows our non-technical team members to easily build and customize their own dashboards. The initial implementation and data schema setup require significant developer resources to get right. If you don't strictly manage your event tracking plan, your data can quickly become messy and cluttered. The pricing tiers can scale up rapidly and become expensive as your monthly tracked users grow. There is a noticeable learning curve for non-analysts to fully grasp advanced properties and formulas. It solves the problem of blind spots in the user journey by showing exactly how people interact with our features. This benefits us by pinpointing friction points in our sign-up flow, allowing us to directly improve conversion rates. I particularly like Mixpanel's session replay feature where I can look at recordings of customers on my website or app. It allows me to see what they did and any constraints they had. I can understand errors or where customers are getting lost, their pathway to success or failure. This feature is very helpful as it helps me review where customers get held up and revamp the product to be more intuitive, reducing headaches for them. It allows for testing and improvement to see if customers in the future face the same hurdles or if they successfully journey where we want them to go. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Mixpanel? I think, in general, the onboarding of Mixpanel could be improved, especially for nontechnical members of the team. How people might understand all the capabilities of Mixpanel. And have almost an easier section and then a more experienced difficult section. Where their self tag tools that say, okay. If you wanna get started here, for the nontechnical people building things, here's the easier things you can do within Mixpanel that will show some success. But are less complicated. And then you have more complicated things that might have a warning associated with it that may not be good for a nontechnical or a novice user. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
