I switched at least 2 dozen times using other hosting services when I started HansonEllis.com until I found Miva in 2001. I have been with Miva for about 15 years and never switched again. It is very stable compared to other hosting services. If you wish to make a big investment, I suggest you go with a hosting company that is stable. Don't bother reading those tech magazines that list top 10 hosting companies. I think their advertising dollars got them there. Just because you have the most clients doesn't mean you are the best. I went through a few top 10 hosting companies from several different magazines and had many issues with all of them. The most important and trusted reviews are from the customers. I think it is a little more complicated than other shopping cart services I used in the past. If you never set up a shopping cart before or new to e-commerce, it will take some time to learn. You need to do a lot of custom work to make your site look nice. Many of the modules you get from other shopping carts are free but Miva charges you for it. Their professional services are not cheap. I just paid to have custom work done for my website and it was expensive. I feel that they should give you at least 3 free hours if you sign up on their starter plan. However, if you are on their half or full dedicated server, they should at least give you a free 1 hour per month. 15 years ago, the professional service was free.
