Here’s the rewrite: I only just got to explore Miro Canvas 26 today, so this is very much a first-impressions take, but honestly it’s been a fun few hours. The thing that struck me right away: the AI features don’t feel bolted on. That’s rarer than it should be. A lot of tools right now are dropping AI into existing workflows and calling it a day, but here it actually feels like the AI was considered from the start. How people brainstorm, how they make sense of messy ideas, how collaboration actually works when you’re in a room (or a board) together. I come at this from a UX research and product background, so I’m probably more attuned than most to when something feels designed versus just shipped. And these flows feel designed. The boards themselves are just… engaging? Even in a review or feedback setting, which can get heavy fast, the structure and interactions make the whole thing feel lighter. That matters more than people give it credit for. Keeping teams genuinely present and involved over long sessions is hard, and good interaction design quietly does a lot of that work. What I didn’t expect: I kept thinking about personal uses. Career mapping, long-term planning, just getting thoughts out of my head and into something that makes sense. There’s an approachability to it that makes you want to keep going. Tomas’s keynote was a big part of what got me thinking differently about this. Something about the way he framed where Miro is heading just clicked, and now I want to actually test it. Going forward I’m planning to prototype as much as possible directly in Miro and start building out more autonomous workflows using these tools. Less bouncing between apps, more thinking and building in one place. Very early days, but I’m genuinely curious to see where this goes with regular use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Miro? Here’s a natural, balanced version that fits the tone of the rest: Where it gets harder for me to make the switch fully is UI work. For building out full UI workflows and going directly from design to build, Figma is still where I live. There’s something about being able to stay in one place from wireframe to handoff that I haven’t found a reason to move away from. The fewer platforms in that particular process, the better. So for UX specifically, Figma is still the stronger tool in my opinion. The depth of the UI workflow, the way it handles components and prototyping, the direct path to actually building, it’s hard to compete with that. Miro doesn’t need to be that though, and I don’t think it’s trying to be. The way I’m starting to think about it is less either/or and more about what each tool is actually good for. Miro for thinking, synthesizing, collaborating and now increasingly for prototyping ideas and building autonomous workflows. Figma for UI design and anything that needs to go somewhere buildable. What problems is Miro solving and how is that benefiting you? Here’s how that could read: The business problem it’s actually solving for me is consolidation. Right now a lot of my work lives across different platforms, notes here, feedback there, references somewhere else, and pulling that together into something coherent takes real time and effort. What I can see Miro doing is becoming the place where all of that lands and connects, so instead of hunting across tools to piece together context, it’s already in one place and ready to work with. The other side of that is prototyping. Being able to build a prototype quickly, share it, collect feedback, iterate on it and run it through multiple review cycles without leaving the same environment is genuinely valuable. That back and forth between idea and feedback is where a lot of time gets lost in the current way of working, and tightening that loop has a real impact on how fast things move. So for me it’s less about any single feature and more about what happens when you reduce the switching cost between thinking, building and reviewing. I love how Miro's themes make meetings more engaging and less mundane, especially since agile ceremonies can be repetitive. The Miroverse templates allow us to experiment with different themes like movies and travel destinations, gamifying our sessions and significantly increasing team engagement during retrospectives. We went from only three participants to consistently getting feedback from eleven to fifteen people. Miro's interactive nature and collaboration capabilities are fantastic, allowing everyone to participate by sharing feedback with various fonts and themes. The polling feature is really helpful too. Introducing Miro to my team was a breeze; it's intuitive and easy to use, even across language barriers. We're a creative digital consultancy that has been using Miro for over five years now. It started as a place to do digital post-its and brainstorms, but now with all the integrations it's become a core part of our workflow (and we've brought our clients along for the ride). The templates are super helpful from respected sources - we've even made some branded templates for our own internal use. Most importantly, we've been able to get all our team members working in one place, including external clients and partners. We've tried other whiteboard tools like Mural, but Miro has a more intuitive interface and better feature set. Easy for anyone to get started using the basics, but also more complex features available if you want them. Makes it easy to visualise and share ideas in a collaborative space. I've found the data tables particularly useful to be able to show the same data in multiple different views, and knowing that if I make an update to one it will sync with all the others - a big bugbear of mine is having to make the same update in multiple places so this has been a huge time saver and helped us keep things consistent! I like that you can hide and show different fields and filter the view depending on what you're using it for or who you're presenting it to, so it doesn't feel overwhelming even if you've got loads of data in there (unlike a spreadsheet which quickly becomes messy and overwhelming). I've used data tables to keep track of requirements and user needs, create user story maps, plan sprints, keep track of my to-do items. I also like that when you copy any frame, not just data tables, you get the option to sync to the original - it makes it easy to display the same information/visuals in multiple places while still retaining a 'master' version. I enjoyed the AI prototyping feature when it was available to us, but our organisation opted not to pay for the feature long term. Other than that, I'e not really used the AI features. As a service designer/UCD specialist, I'm not sure I could do mom job without Miro. I use it every single day in some capacity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Miro? One downside that I have noticed is that if you have a few large data tables on a board (or copies of a data table with different views), it can significantly slow the board down and make it difficult to move around or add to the table. In some cases we've had to create a separate board just to house the main data table, and then copied in a view to a specific board when we need it. I've also tried the layers feature a few times which has been helpful to an extent, but we've found that the more layers we add, the less reliable it becomes. We've found that content sometimes randomly moves from a layer back to the default layer or just disappears altogether. In one project we wasted significant amounts of time trying to find out where bits of content were supposed to be and moving them back to the correct layer (sometimes this would happen every couple of days, so not just a one-off issue). It's also not particularly easy to find layers and not clear at a glance when layers have been used - so if someone in the team comes to a board that hasn't worked extensively on that project, they may miss content if they don't know its hidden in a layer. Within the data tables, it would be easier if there was a way to bulk apply /bulk copy a field selection across multiple rows (i.e I have 20 rows that I want to add a new 'to do' tag to - currently the only way seems to be to go through them one by one and select 'to do'. It would be easier if there was a way to apply this to multiple rows at once (a bit like in excel how you can update one and then drag the corner of the cell down to copy into the next rows) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Keeping information consistent - previously we might have a full list of user needs, and then someone would want to see only the user needs for a specific group so we'd have to create a new table for them, and then for the next project we might extract only the user needs related to a specific feature. This meant we had multiple copies, and previous copies could quickly become out of date if someone wasn't keeping track of all of them. Now that we're using data tables, it's much easier to keep all the data in one place and just use views to show what we need when we need it. It's also helped us keep the way we present things consistent - we previously used multiple different tools for journey mapping so they all looked different and stakeholders had to keep adjusting to what we were presenting.
