I swear by the URL Filtering, Impersonation protection, and Attachment Sandboxing features. The email continuity has been a great feature to have as an option if our Office 365 were to encounter significant availability issues. I love the level of information available in the Mimecast Dashboard. I feel confident I can quickly find information in the Mimecast logs to troubleshoot issues and monitor email flow. **What do you dislike about Mimecast Advanced Email Security?** Price has always been high, and seems to be getting worse every renewal. New features are rolled out as separate SKUs, rather than enhancing the existing product. This is frustrating for existing adopters, as it feels like you are constantly being upsold. Mimecast availability has suffered in the second half of 2019, with several significant outages. Mimecast support and leadership were not very responsive to the issues initially. Web UI is reasonably clear to understand once you acclimate. Our last product we had to jump to several different places to see and do things. Not with Mimecast. It also features a tabbed interface so you can switch back and forth from different areas without having to navigate back to somewhere you were previously. Mimecast offers quite a bit of granularity and covers several features our last product didn't. One that comes to mind is looking at domains, etc. that are in other language sets. To me it looks like english but in reality the letter or letters are something else. Also rules are ordered automatically so you don't have to worry about putting a rule in the right place. If you need to make absolutely sure a rule is processed first there is a checkbox to do so. Mimecast's KB system is pretty thorough and we can usually find the documentation we need to implement a feature. But if we can't or need help their support is quick and easy to work with. **What do you dislike about Mimecast Advanced Email Security?** We also purchased archiving and the ingestion process of old data was not as friendly as I feel it should be. We ultimately had to restore our old database with Veeam and have Veeam break it up in chunks. In some cases you can do things in several places which can be confusing to find a rule or figure out where a rule should be. **Recommendations to others considering Mimecast Advanced Email Security:** We utilized services to help set Mimecast up. I recommend it as it makes implementation fast. Also, you have to request the medical dictionary if that's something you're looking for. Don't be afraid to ask for things. Sales will work really hard to get your business. **What problems is Mimecast Advanced Email Security solving and how is that benefiting you?** We really wanted something that is in a single pane of glass that also encompasses archiving. Mime cast definitely achieves that. We wanted an easier interface to view as our old product looked like it was out of the 90s and not as pretty. While there are multiple ways of doing some things, most Mimecast has reduced this problem significantly. ### 6. They are not great at catching phish emails or URL scanning leaves a bit to be desired. However, it's way better than most options on the market. **Recommendations to others considering Mimecast Advanced Email Security:** I feel an onion/layered approach to security is best. So using a gateway security product in conjunction with an API based one is the best solution. We are an O365 customer and they have had service outages in the past. A gateway solution gives you tools to mitigate a Microsoft event, keeping email flowing and assuring your customers do not notice it. I don't feel there is a total one stop shop for security. Mimecast is a good tool for you to put in your security shed. **What problems is Mimecast Advanced Email Security solving and how is that benefiting you?** TTP and email security tools are ok. Users are warned that links may be harmful. Policies can label external email so users can treat spoof/fake emails quicker. URL protection just isn't as accurate as we would like. Good tech support and great training especially compared to Knowb4 which are mind numbing to watch. There are also other features that we just learned about the other day which would have been nice to know from the beginning as it would have saved us money but we will absolutely use those features going forward because having everything with one vendor is so much easier not only from a technical perspective but also from a cost and ease of renewal perpespective **What do you dislike about Mimecast Advanced Email Security?** So far haven't found anything we dislike only thing I can think of is the difference between Release & Release for this user. Complicated to setup. Needed to call support desk for all policies installed on the mimecast system to get everything working correctly. Our attempts at doing it ourselves failed. **Recommendations to others considering Mimecast Advanced Email Security:** I would highly recommend turning on mimecast to watch your outgoing mail, it's learning capabilities help reduce the amount of emails being caught and created less friction with users whose emails were being held. **What problems is Mimecast Advanced Email Security solving and how is that benefiting you?** Reducing the number of junk mail we receive but more importantly reducing the number of malicious mail. I really like the reputation check. Benefits is confidence that it will catch most malicious emails and I love that it learns based on our emails sent. ### 15. We also love the archive ability with Mimecast and use it every day. We delete all email after 90 days so the archive feature has been very helpful. I really love the service and support we get from Mimecast. I love the 24/7 availability and when I have called them I always get a live person. **What do you dislike about Mimecast Advanced Email Security?** Sometimes we have had issues with False Positives. The other thing that has been only slightly difficult is the URL Protection. We love that Mimecast protects us from malicious URL's in our Email but I usually teach my users to "hover" over the link to see if it is legit or not. Mimecast URL protection re-writes this link so when you hover over it you are not sure if it is legit or not. You are still protected, but the hover technique doesn't really work. **Recommendations to others considering Mimecast Advanced Email Security:** You will not regret using Mimecast. The biggest perk is the Outlook plugin which keeps the end users happy with easy checking if something new came in that seems suspicious. **What do you dislike about Mimecast Advanced Email Security?** Over the last couple years there has been a few service hiccups - all resolved quickly. With so many settings, you can get a little lost in the analysis flow if you need to create different workflows for C level employees. It works too well. We hear "I'm not getting email from so and so" on occasion. Upon looking in to the scenario, it's because the sending party screwed up something like their SPF record. :) **Recommendations to others considering Mimecast Advanced Email Security:** Talk to a sales person. They are extremely knowledgeable and will demo anything. The Outlook integration is brushed off by many of their competitors when brought up, but when you see it in action and realize the end user experience/acceptance factor, it wins. Check their documentation online. I was surprised at how much is available that you can read up on before even signing up to get an understanding on how it can be configured. **What problems is Mimecast Advanced Email Security solving and how is that benefiting you?** We had some whaling issues before Mimecast. This has prevented that with impersonation protect and a robust SPF and DMARC checking. End users would create numerous help desk tickets to release an email they think came in that they were missing. They would get a report every 4 hours, but that wasn't good enough. We have Mimecast configured the same, but the ease of use with the Outlook plugin make it instantaneous to look. ### 17. I think the interface is easy to use and the help documentation is well presented and informative. The 'learning' spam filtering has cut our spam/phishing messages by 90% over our past Barracuda service. Office 365 integration was easy to accomplish and the implementation person I worked with was very knowledgeable. **What do you dislike about Mimecast Advanced Email Security?** There is a bit to learn regarding all of the policies and options, but well worth the time investment if you're looking for granularity. **What problems is Mimecast Advanced Email Security solving and how is that benefiting you?** We had a previous email spam filter, but it wasn't as effective as we would have liked. We were also very concerned about phishing and impersonation attempts made against our employees. I never realize how much crap gets sent to us that we never see until I go into the admin console and see them. **What do you dislike about Mimecast Advanced Email Security?** The admin console is cumbersome to use. If I want to look at Attachment Protect, if have to go to multiple locations depending on if I want to release an attachment, setup a policy, or reporting. **Recommendations to others considering Mimecast Advanced Email Security:** I highly recommend following the advice and settings from their implementation tame and their support team. They have a great support staff that will see you through implementation, changes you want to make, or troubleshooting issues you have. Also, they have a very extensive knowledge and documentation site that has a lot of good information. Not only with how to configure or setup their products, but also general email and security information. I really didn't know how email and security all worked together (What's a SPF record?). There are some emails that make it through, but a quick trip to the blocked senders list and making sure end users are educated to contact me if they notice something that doesn't look right. Always better to be safe that sorry. Also getting to see the volume of threats that are prevented by quickly navigating to the Threat dashboard and the amazing visibility into the exact threats as well as where in the world they originated. **What do you dislike about Mimecast Advanced Email Security?** When we first started using Mimecast, it was very difficult to navigate through and i always ended up having to reach out to support for assistance. I give everyone at Mimecast a lot of credit, they have constantly been improving the user interface. I wouldn't say it there yet, but they are getting there. **What problems is Mimecast Advanced Email Security solving and how is that benefiting you?** Some of the biggest issues that were the main reason why we implemented Mimecast are Phishing and Impersonation. The headaches that are caused by those two alone not to mention the lost capital when someone thinks the CEO needs them to send money via wire transfer only to find out later that they gave away the company's money to someone pretending to be the CEO. I don't know for sure, but it's probably 99.9% accurate. Support is quick to respond and know the product well. I'm on the lowest support tier, but they still help quickly and give me thorough info to tune our system. **What do you dislike about Mimecast Advanced Email Security?** Took me about 1 year to mostly understand all the capabilities to tune the system. And after that year, it still misses spam and phish emails. Kind of frustrating. Support suggests I create more manual rules to filter. Regex, text string, header, envelope, IP address, etc. But the kind of "PMP training" and "Buy our B2B list" spam should be blocked without a special rule. We get threat reports and can see who is being targeted and who is sending the emails to them. The interface is nice and the outlook plugin is clean. Mimecast is a feature rich platform that provides everything we need to stop e-mail based threats. The URL protection is worth the price alone and also offers a bit of user training. It virtually eliminates junk mail from reaching our inboxes. The held e-mail digest is easy to use for end users. The Mimecast platform is HIGHLY configurable and integrates well with o365. They have made many improvements to various parts of the interface over the years which have made management much more streamlined. **What do you dislike about Mimecast Advanced Email Security?** Mimecast is not cheap. I have not compared it to other offerings in a couple of years but it costs more than we were paying for our previous solution.
