There are many ways to set what behavior you would like to have happen upon notice of a notification. Also these rules allow you to set for different kinds of notifications (chats, followings, mentions,...etc). This allows me to concentrate on work instead of constant interruptions for what I can deem as trivial. Nothing worse than constant interruptions when you are actually trying to get some work done.
