**What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services to Alation?**

As a data analyst, the best part of linking SSIS with Alation is like having a map for your data. It automatically tracks where your data comes from and what happens to it, saving you time and headaches!

**What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services to Alation?**

While the benefits are great, there's a catch. SSIS and Alation don't connect seamlessly out of the box. You'll need extra tools or custom coding to bridge the gap. This can be technical work and might require some IT muscle.

**What problems is Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services to Alation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a data analyst, my biggest headache used to be remembering what goes on in all my SSIS data pipelines. Imagine building these complex things that move data around, but then months later someone asks where a number comes from, and you're stuck digging through code.

Alation with SSIS (it needs a little extra setup) fixes that! Alation acts like a GPS for your data, automatically showing where everything comes from and what happens to it. No more code diving! Plus, Alation stores all the details about my SSIS pipelines in one place, so everyone's on the same page. This saves me tons of time, cuts down on errors, and makes working with data so much smoother. Sure, it's not magic, but it's pretty darn close for us data analysts!

  ### 15. Useful SQL Integration

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Airlines/Aviation | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 20, 2024

**What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services to Alation?**

The helpful aspect of this integration stems from the functionality that it provides if you have a Microsoft heavy organization. In my opinion that is the focal point that your org should focus on this integration. Ask yourself the question - do we currently use other Microsoft products that can leveraged between this server and Alation and how do we conduct the rest of our aligned business processes.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services to Alation?**

I feel like the SQL server from Microsoft is not really weak or serve as something to dislike. The issue I do take with it is the other side of the coin as it relates to its strength. This integration is not for all businesses or even those that simply uses Alation. Make sure that you use other Microsoft products to get the most bang for your buck - figuratively and literally.

**What problems is Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services to Alation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Business processes that the IT team leverages for data governance. I have lived in a heavy Jira ran world in HRIS and IT and this integration helps with protecting our assets. We benefit from this because of strict ordinances tied to changes in the org. Additionally, I am a heavy Power BI user who runs and creates reports for our executive leadership.

  ### 16. Review all your needs before move forward

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services to Alation?**

The initial setup ran smoothly, without surprises. The relationship between cost-benefit could be a decisive factor, particularly if support hours are included, but you need to be 100% sure that the features will cover your needs. The lineage data visualization is remarkable but with some limitations.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services to Alation?**

Alation captured basic data flow but it lacked crucial details about transformations happening within the SSIS packages. Without a way for managing SSIS packages directly from Alation, we needed to switch between platforms very often, a big hole for efficiency. We had to do manual digging whenever we needed to analyze and understand very specific data manipulations but under other circumstances, it could be enough useful.

**What problems is Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services to Alation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were looking for a data catalog solution that enables us to transparency, data governance and transformation. The goal was achieved partially but the experience let us understand the scope of our needs and future steps.
