Honestly, beyond that, it is just that I am familiar with it, quirks and limitations and all. **What do you dislike about Microsoft Publisher?** 1. Abandonment. Publisher has been so abandoned by Microsoft that it is difficult to understand why they still call it a current product. They still sell it as a retail stand-alone product, though anybody buying it now as a 2019 version is being conned, as it has not changed or kept pace with the rest of office for at least 6 or 7 years. Example: in recent editions of Word, Excel and Powerpoint, there is the facility to add icons. If they supported their DTP product it would be the most worthy of all to have the icons feature, but it does not. This is one small example, but there are many, many, where it have been left behind - including support. Search for MS Publisher in the Microsoft support pages and you will find nothing for 5+ years. 2. Functionality. Abandonment aside, Publisher has always had some very strange quirks for a DTP programme released by a giant such as Microsoft. Its handling of text wrapping in margins and shapes is sometimes so frustrating that a 10 second job turns into 30 minutes. Lacking the ability to autofit text by increase and decrease in any text box joined with another is, in DTP, such a basic limitation for a power user that it is equivalent to a spreadsheet not being able to reference information in two worksheets, or a powerpoint presentation that could only have one timing for all slides. Publisher has many quirks that you have to learn to live with, knowing there will never be releases that correct them. 3. Compatibility. The biggest drawback in publisher in 2019 is the lack of ability to extract content to use elsewhere. You can save Publisher content as a text file, or copy and paste it as a text file, but it is a half-arsed effort that will cause all sorts of problems.
