## Microsoft OneNote Reviews
  ### 1. Organized, Color-Coded Notes—But Document Syncing Needs Improvement

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Chemicals | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

I like how it organizes my thoughts, ideas, and documents all in one place. I also like that it’s color-coded, and that I can store a large amount of information in a clean, easy-to-manage way.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

I dislike that OneNote doesn’t sync documents when you add them to a OneNote page. If I save the document in OneNote, it doesn’t save back to the original file.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me keep my ideas and thoughts stored in one place, but it doesn’t really work like a project management tool. It doesn’t keep me on track with my projects; instead, it makes it easy to see what I’m working on and manage everything in one spot.

  ### 2. Once Great for Note-Taking, Now Clunky with No Tagging and Sync Issues

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Writing and Editing | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

I’ve used OneNote since 2012, and it has been the most useful program for note-taking. It makes it easy to create notebooks and add subdivisions, which helps me keep everything organized.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

Lately, it’s become clunkier to use, and there’s still no tagging. I’ve also been running into syncing issues between the mobile and desktop versions.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s a good tool for editing draft pieces, and I also use it to keep an archive of my writing.

  ### 3. Not Intuitive, but Integrates Well with Office Suite

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marinos M. | Communications, Marketing and Advertising Consultant, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

I appreciate how Microsoft OneNote integrates with other Microsoft Office products, which helps in keeping my notes and documents connected. I also find the ability to create multilevel/page notes very useful.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

I find using Microsoft OneNote a bit difficult and confusing. Although setting it up was easy, the program itself is not very intuitive, which contributes to a steep learning curve. Despite being an advanced computer user, I struggle with its interface and features, making it less appealing. I primarily use it because it is part of my company's procedures and standards rather than by choice. If I had the choice, I probably would not buy it again in the future.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find OneNote's integration with Office beneficial for keeping my notes and documents connected.

  ### 4. My experience with Microsoft OneNote

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dilip D. | Senior Consultant - Salesforce, Computer Software, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2024

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

I have been using OneNote for almost 3 years. Basically it is good for tracking our day to day tasks, for managing our TODO list. We can create multiple sections and under each section we can create multiple pages. There are other features like highlighting the text with different colour, inersing the images and so many. Overall it is good. Very frequently I use this tool I mean almost everyday as I manage my TODO list here.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

I really want to mention negative side of this product as I have een using it for almost 3 years. When you want to scroll up or scroll down on the page it is very slow. I have observed it many times.
Also, sometimes when you open a particual page the cursor/control goes directly to the top of the page and it doesn't stay at a place where I left when I close the laptop or even after restart.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OneNote is helping me to manage my daily tasks in the project. It is helping me to manage my TODO list. Using OneNote I can easily track how much work is completed and how much is left. So that I can easily manage the estimations.

  ### 5. We create forms using OneNote

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Barbara B. | Manager Mobile Products Engagement Team, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2023

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

We needed a space to create forms and share them via email to make it easy to collect information from clients.

It's keeping everything organized for us.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

When we try to send our notes via email in a PDF format, if would not keep the information in the right place. So it takes us longer because we have to do it manually.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Forms administration.

We need forms to collect the API information of all the integrations that we are building and OneNote is the best place for that.

  ### 6. My experience with Microsoft OneNote has been normal as a note app can be.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jasmine R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 20, 2023

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

What I like most about Microsoft OneNote is how I can share notes with family and friends. I also love Microsoft one note because it allows me to keep track of my notes, and I can check them anywhere using Microsoft Office.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

What I dislike about Microsoft Onenote is the lack of advanced formatting options. While does offers basic formatting, it doesnt have as many features as some other note-taking/ word proccesing application

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before using Microsoft Onenote, I used notes on a Windows computer, but I couldn't save them to the current device I was using and then open it on another device. Now that I use Microsoft OneNote, I can keep my notes and open it on any device anywhere.

  ### 7. Lacking meaningful structure, but good for creative processes

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 04, 2023

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

I liked the blank canvas nature of the interface. You could create a workbook and drop anything in it, anywhere on the page - this lead to interesting mind-map type notebook pages. This was both helpful and a hinderance - I find systems with more structure to be easier to use.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

The lack of structure made it hard to work coherently on projects. I generally find systems with more structure to be easier to use. Asana and Notion are superior in this area. As someone who is not a MSFT fan at this point, I was happy to move away from OneNote, which does not integrate well with some of my other applications.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is not solving any at this point - I have stopped using it. It was used primarily for creative problem-solving and brainstorming visualization but found the free-form format to be both helpful and a hindrance, especially where cross-platform collaboration was required.

  ### 8. Good for Notes

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anjuman C. | IT Technician, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2023

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

Microsoft one note is simplistic and easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

Limited for it's uses other than that it is good for keeping general notes and notes you need to separate.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When needing to access some information that I may have forgotten, I can find it in one note.

  ### 9. Recently I found OneNote not so gud as it was before, in particular use it with a smartpen

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ricardo U. | Director de administración, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

I can organize my not by topics, made rañitions between them but now, studying German, I preferred to use another software BC. Of my experience with my smartpen

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

Not so gud to be used with a smartpen. It don't respond fast and with precision to the hand traces. I used to made mind maps with OneNote and now I feel limited to use it with a mouse

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Notes about complex topics and interrelated different issues and topics.
But when one use with a touchscreen device with a smartpen for Personal Mindmap disign , it is hard to use

  ### 10. Intuitive platform, but the layout is very basic!

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paola F. | executiva de contas, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2022

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

Division of notebooks, customization possibilities, and editing in the same format as other office packages, the ability to draw, record audio/videos, and include attachments and images!

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

The layout is very basic and simple, it could have a more attractive appearance. Additionally, it could have a workspace view that doesn't take up so much screen space!

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft OneNote:**

If you are looking for a platform with various customization possibilities, this one meets your needs! The most important thing is to test it for a while, so you can get an overall view.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The platform helped me a lot in organizing and personalizing my notes, due to the ease of having everything in a single program. Another benefit is the ability to send notes by email, so I can share them with my colleagues.

  ### 11. Good for sharing team's notes

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eber C. | Director de proyecto, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2021

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

Classifying notes using notebooks and sections is very useful. I especially like the way of organizing blocks of information in a sketch-like form in order to be understandable. It's nice how you can keep notebooks for personal use or for every different team. And since it's stored as a file, it can be easily stored on SharePoint or OneDrive. It also works great with the rest of Microsoft 365 products.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

Honestly, the way of tagging blocks of information is not easy to use. I've struggled to use tags, so I simply don't anymore. It can also be a bit sluggish to load compared to other services. Navigating on the web version can be unconfortable, especially if you have blocks in all directions. On the other hand, It lacks some sort of organization help. For example, I would like that elements connect somehow when placed close to each other.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft OneNote:**

You have to make sure you know what you're your needs are. Mictosoft OneNote is very good for drafts, meeting notes, and a few other situations, but lacks too many features that, in my opinion, are important for an enriched notetaking app. I would also recommend always keeping notes over SharePoint so they are accesible to the whole Team/Department.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My team and I use it to work on guidelines drafts together before posting them on SharePoint. Since its part of our Microsoft 365 plan, I use it to write my meeting outlines. It has proven useful to write meeting minutes and sharing them to the whole team. Works nice keeping an archive of those minutes as well. I've liked how fast you can start typing drafts and outlines and keep them safe.

  ### 12. Good tool for organizing notes, but still clunky

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amit G. | Sr. Vice President, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

colorful organization of notes in different tabs

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

too bulky and clunky
access across devices is not streamlined

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

quick note-taking
maintaining list
meeting notes

  ### 13. Microsoft OneNote Review

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carlie S. | Clinical Information Manager (CIM), Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2020

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

I like how Microsoft OneNote allowed me to upload my lectures and take notes alongside them as I listened to the lecture.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

I dislike how Microsoft OneNote would occasionally delete my notes or take a very long time to bring up my notes.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Microsoft OneNote offered me an opportunity to arrange my notes in a cohesive way during a chaotic period in graduate school. It allowed me to upload powerpoints and write directly on them via the computer.

  ### 14. Excellent application to manage notes and simplify concepts

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maria José L. | PHD Student, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

Microsoft OneNote is software that allows you to take notes, write comments, sketch your ideas, and express yourself quickly through freehand diagrams and drawings. It is a highly recommended application, especially for working with tablets or laptops with a touchscreen, where you can write using a digital pen. The truth is that for anyone studying, needing to synthesize daily ideas, or even taking notes in a business meeting, it is highly recommended.
Additionally, it allows for the easy insertion of multimedia elements, whether they are images, drawings, or other forms.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

The downside of the application is the lack of integration between this application and other software in the same office suite. The product would improve significantly if there were a way to convert handwritten notes to Word text.
On the other hand, although it is a very good option with tablets and touch screens, the experience is not very good with other computers or mobile phones. On the computer, creating sketches or drafts is almost an impossible task with freehand mouse use.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft OneNote:**

It is a very creative tool that allows you to synchronize your notes across all your devices.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Take notes very quickly and synthesize all the information during a meeting. It also allows you to sync the notes with various devices and often avoids the use of a notebook and pen.
Another use is to make possible design sketches for the development of my work. It allows for a more fluid development of my work and speeds up my note-taking.
It is an indispensable tool for daily life.

  ### 15. Great tool, but only for so long

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mallory M. | Operations Manager and Trainer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

The OneNote is a great place to centralize information that you implement and share with your team. Also a great way for staff to document changes and questions they have about processes and procedures.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

The OneNote "Notebook" can't be too big. If there are too many Pages/Sections - It is extremely slow and constantly errors out if any changes are made. Since the loading is terrible, it isn't retaining as much information. Sometimes, you have to type in information 3-4 times for it to retain the information. For a start-up, it's awesome. As a growing business with more users, it's terrible. My developers are now having to build things in our own software to phase out the OneNote, since it's gotten so bad. If not for that, it would be perfect!

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a centralized place to documents processes, procedures, and information that the staff need to do their job. As staff encounter issues or changes, the ability to edit the OneNotes can be very helpful, as it updates for all staff.

  ### 16. A good Notebook

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

I like the ability to take notes from client calls on One Note. It does a good job at organizing my projects and easily able to navigate and find what I’m looking for when I need to dig out my notes.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

Honestly, I can’t think of anything negative to say about the program at the moment. It serves its purpose for my needs in that I can take notes for my different projects and client calls.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OneNote has helped me to be more organized when it comes to have my notes in one secure spot. Before I would have several loose notebooks that I would take notes in, but with OneNote it’s all there in the app which I find to be very useful and convenient.

  ### 17. Microsoft Onenote

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard O. | Account Executive, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

I like the sharing aspect as well as the broad functionality of the program

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

Although useful, I wish there was a template selection. The blank page is great for a lot of uses, but I think having templates would make it even more accessible. The lack of a proper excel importing and usage tool is unfavorable as well. The best option you have available is to create a table. I think the user interface could be a bit more intuitive.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Team organization and centralizing information

  ### 18. Microsoft OneNote not worth your time

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Chemicals | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

I like the fact that my boss and I can communicate our thoughts with OneNote without having to call or text one another. It's a place to store your ideas, to dos, and track important information.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

I find that moving items between folders is not easy to do. The mobile version is absolutely awful so I don't recommend trying it.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft OneNote:**

Don't waste your time there has to be something better out there.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I like not having to remember everything or having notes scratch down on a piece of paper that I will just lose. again it's a good communication tool between my boss and I to make sure we are staying on top of things.

  ### 19. Digital Notebook

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

What I like most, is that my notes are automatically synced between my desktop and phone. If you're on the train or with a client and need to check something quickly, it is convenient to have your notes on your phone as well.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

The features are rather limited and switching between tools takes too much time. To me, the program should improve its ease of use to become as handy as pen and paper. At the moment you miss a whole part of the meeting by switching between a pen and a marker.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before, I always used pen and paper, but then half of my notes got lost over time. OneNote helps me to keep track of my notes on a digital platform.

  ### 20. Are digital notes better?

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

I like the fact that my notes are automatically synchronized between my computer and my smartphone. It is very handy to always have access to your notes on the go.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

To me, it takes longer to take notes. It felt faster when actually writing notes, with pen and paper. Right now correcting, changing tools and drawing just takes too long to keep up with the meeting. Maybe this si something I should work on for myself, but for now it is an issue.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Honestly, I just started using it because it was included in our Microsoft Office suite. Now, it helps me to keep my notes structured and always available.

  ### 21. Note collection in cloud

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Management Consulting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

It is easy to use, you can write, draw organise your note all in One Pages with different topics and type, moreover is connected and integrrtad on my cloud so I can update it by phone and pc

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

The layout is not that cool, plus it would be great to have reminder for some tasks

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft OneNote:**

Divide well the pages it took me a bit to get use to it

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Taking notes both private that meeting ones

  ### 22. OneNote is helpful to a degree

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Logistics and Supply Chain | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

I like that it can be updated in real time and shared across a network of employees. It’s helpful to not worry about saving it and to continue updating notes on it.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

It will create duplicate items/ documents in there if someone else edits it, and it will prevent it from updating the original version if it sees multiple. It doesn’t always merge the changes you make, which is frustrating and counterproductive

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft OneNote:**

It’s a very useful tool. Just make sure you and your teammates all know how to get the maximum benefit out of it

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me stay updated on the different customer SOPs and I’m able to change or edit anything that’s outdated. It keeps everyone up to speed on the correct contacts and operational procedures for each individual customer that we work with. It’s also great for contracted pricing if there’s any question about what we charge the customer.

  ### 23. OneNote for team

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aman G. | Senior Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

options to add tables,
draw option
insert file, screenshot of anything
sharing option

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

User interface
should have features like excel for tables
copy paste table feature is really bad, need to be improved
sometimes face sync issues

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft OneNote:**

NA

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

documenting various processes, sharing it with team,
connecting it to MS sharepoint
explaining process and codes for easy access to all members of team
creating tables having powerBi data and info regarding dashboards, how to use and modify them etc.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

I'm not crazy about grouping the items in the extended menu.

I would like to congratulate you for the constant updating.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Onenote is perfect for organizing files in a studio or a company

  ### 25. Middle of the line note-taking

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

It's included in the Microsoft Office-suite and its integration for Office works well

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

Formatting is really out of fashion and very hard to maintain. The search is really below par too.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft OneNote:**

Evaluate if OneNote is enough or if there are alternatives out there which fit better

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Taking notes fast on a work-computer which has the Office-suite installed.

  ### 26. Basic Note Taking

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

I like how simple it is to use and how it doesn't require a lot of learning to get used to it. I like how everything is neatly laid out and organized as well.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

It is very limited and basic. I would like it to have password features and more integrations. It also sometimes takes awhile to switch between documents.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving issues by having documentation in one place for all employees to see. The benefits are that any of us can access them at any time or from any device.

  ### 27. Really useful however a bit unstructured

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

Useful for taking notes, organising them and using colour coding. It is a Microsoft product so many others use it and I can easily find it on other computers than mine at work

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

A bit messy. I still don’t use it that much because I find its thumbnails structure lacking Organizational features (e.g. grouping them)

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Taking quick notes without bothering too much with the saving and the formatting

  ### 28. Take notes at all times

Instant syncing, where OneNote writes notes, is instant storage, where you can focus on recording.
With easy to use hyperlink capabilities, OneNote makes it easy to create hyperlinks between pages and between paragraphs.
Pages that can be edited at will.
OneNote's editing interface allows you to write anywhere you want, much like painting on a canvas.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

Search is weak, does not support multi-tag functionality, and does not provide Markdown syntax support.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It can record notes quickly and edit pages easily. It can switch between multiple pages. At the same time, it can be used together with OneDrive.

  ### 29. Average product

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

It’s easy to share and have multiple people use and edit a document

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

It’s not as easy to use as other Microsoft software

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Such a good benefit is being able to all access a file at the same time and all being able to edit it

  ### 30. Not really impressed with onenote

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

OneNote is a option you can use to sort documents, we use it for knowledge base entries. I like the color scheme and colored tabs the program uses. I also like how it sorts items by client and is easy to edit or provide rights to edit the files.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

Search feature is not very good. You have to type words exactly as they are in the titles, doesn't work like a search engine and help you find things worded slightly different. Also the program makes copy and paste very difficult often imported documents are not able to be copied.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft OneNote:**

Please compare other options, I don't know of any but as a user not really that great for knowledge base use.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to search customer issues and find previous used solutions to the problem to get us going in the right direction

  ### 31. Good but not great

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Industrial Automation | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

seamless operation across apps/devices, and fairly seamless between apps and OneDrive.decent structure and usability

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

Notes won’t pop out into separate windows so you can’t work two at once, or even refer to a second one without klunky back-and-forth multi-click navigation. App and OneDrive don’t behave the same - app allows custom sequencing of notes and actions, but in OneDrive they are set to default. Can’t share individual notes, just whole sections which can be confusing to others.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft OneNote:**

Remember it’s a Microsoft app, with all the typical Microsoft idiosyncrasies that make it weird and sometimes frustrating to use. But if you are in a Microsoft ecosystem already and plan to go 365, it’s oddities and shortcomings are worth tolerating

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Note taking across platform and note sharing among various multiple users

  ### 32. One Note is Adequate

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel A. | Physical Therapy Technician , Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

I do not like the lag time that is associated with this product

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft OneNote:**

Spend some time getting to know the product

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using it to draw our designs for school

  ### 33. It can be usefuu

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Writing and Editing | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

It can sync between devices and is free.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

It seems more cumbersome than other similar apps like Evernote.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft OneNote:**

While not perfect, it can be a nice bridge to another app that might have a sleeker user interface. The iPhone app was also recently updated.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s a great program for making needed lists and checking off what needs to be done.

  ### 34. Not the best

  ### 37. Great program

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

Helpful program in allowing tons of notes to be stored in one place for many to view.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

Sometimes the program lags or confuses user names of whose entered data

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OneNote allows all our documents and customer service data to be stored in one centralized location for many years so going back and finding information is easy.

  ### 38. one note user experience.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Pharmaceuticals | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

while the options seem great, i am still a little hesitant mainly cause of the popularity, training and common use of it among other peers and companies.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

the sign on can be challenging sometimes. starting even from the whole creation of microsoft accounts which can e discouraging.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

mainly communication and keeping up with certain projects and work in progress, while heavily used by some other colleagues, some do not always update or share.

  ### 39. One Note recipie holder

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

Many Folders and subfolders to store data , with easy find. You can paste anything on it

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

Sometimes it gets confused by concurrent updating

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft OneNote:**

Be tidy

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One place for every one to share procedures and knowledge

  ### 40. Works well

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeannette L. | Head Of Marketing and Events, Events Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

One Note, basically, replaces the old pen and notebook. You can create different tabs, share your notes with colleagues and even draw diagrams as needed.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

I wish it synced with trello, slack, the google drive and other apps. It feels a bit too stand alone compare to the other tools I use. Perhaps back in the day when there were primarily Microsoft tools this would have been better, but now that there are other options it can be a bit limiting.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft OneNote:**

If you're using the entire suite of Microsoft products then OneNote is great because it syncs across Microsoft products really well. It's very intuitive to use, much like most other Microsoft products and I do like the feature of being able to draw things as well. Some times straight notes/words just can't convey ideas as well as a drawing.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's easy to share notes/ideas with colleages via onedrive and to insert charts and things like that.

  ### 41. Review

  ### 42. Multi-tap function useful; printing a bit tricky

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

I like how I can easily create multiple taps I can see on the right side; makes navigation easy.
Also very good I can attach files at the exact location I want, and with these attachments displayed only as small icons.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

I find it hard to print everything nicely

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft OneNote:**

It is definitely useful to keep multiple things organized.
But if you have to print well-organized documents, Word is better as the primary software.
You can still use OneNote to advantage by just attaching files of Word documents.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it as my laboratory lab notebook as well as personal idea catalogs. Lab notebook is organized with each month as one tab. Makes it neat and organized.

  ### 43. It's okay for note taking but can be really buggy

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bhagavathy S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

I like that there are a lot of useful features like good to use in tablet mode

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

I dislike that the product is slow and crashes sometimes

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft OneNote:**

Consider competition like evernote or notability

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Use for meetings and note taking

  ### 44. Like, but don't love!

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lucy B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

I use this to make notes alongside a lecture or presentation, and being able to have the slides in front of me and make notes directly next to it is hugely beneficial when returning to the notes at a later date, it keeps the structure very clear!

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

It has a record feature which I was super happy about (and the reason why I downloaded it in the first place), but when I was recording, I was unable to move around and do other things on OneNote at the same time - like make notes as well or scroll back through the slides. It just kept freezing to the point that I had to stop recording. Very annoying!

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft OneNote:**

Do not upload too much onto it - it tends to slow quite quickly

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To make quick and well structured notes in a meeting or lecture which are clear and well presented when I return to them.

  ### 45. Good features, needs more connectivity

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jordan B. | Designer I, Machine Build, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

The ability to link live documents, spreadsheets, presentations etc into OneNote.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

Some features, such as the meeting attendee add in, don’t work properly. It would also be nice to have audio recorded of meetings but that feature is difficult to use with skype for business.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In meeting documentation is much easier. Various attendees can all participate simultaneously.

  ### 46. Useful Tool, needs more integration

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

Easy to use, allows for a very free and flexible environment to organize your tasks.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

It could use more integration with other programs.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft OneNote:**

Keep integrating it with other programs.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping track of daily tasks, taking notes from meetings directly onto the the event tab, sharing information across departments

  ### 47. OK, but could be better

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gabriel C. | Chief Marketing Officer, Marketing and Advertising, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

Use for every single major client meeting. Easy to add and organize folders and I especially like how it synchs with mobile

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

It crashes everytime I use spell check. In addition, the formatting can get screwy, especially if you have a lot of columns in the page. For some reason if you bring a column too close to the other then it pushes everything else down to the bottom. If you have too many then it's very difficult to see everything together. I also wish it had a "to-do" function

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft OneNote:**

Don't add too many columns to any single page

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having a single place for all notes and make everything easy to find and search as opposed to having multiple documents

  ### 48. Okay note system

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lane E. | Assistant Operations Manager, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

It's a cloud based note system that integrates nicely with the office suite I already use. Those two points were what got me started on using it.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

It's not very intuitive and honestly isn't very easy to organize in a way that works for me. I'm not in love with the product though and am considering looking for a different product.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've been using it to keep track of notes, to do items, and processes I need to remember for later.

  ### 49. Great for Notes and recording

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 25, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

I like the fact that I can take notes for my projects and file them immediately and then send links to the project team members almost instantly. I can also attach documents to the One Note to send as well.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

I dislike that if the screen goes dark, then the recording playback is extremely slurred and you can not understand what is being said. You almost have to take notes and can not rely solely on recording .

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft OneNote:**

If the recording feature is critical, seek another tool. Microsoft has a long way to go with this functionality.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest benefit that we are solving with the use of One Note is that we are able to send meeting minutes quickly and collaborate on files simultaneously. I like the recording feature because sometimes if I missed something that was said, if the recording was fully functional, I can refer back to it for clarification.

  ### 50. ehhhh it could be better

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cindy P. | Employee Benefits Advisor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 01, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?**

I like that the interface is fairly easy to learn. They have made some updates to the last version that are great. I love that you can create templates and you have more freedom with arranging texts...like you do in a regular notebook.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?**

It works fine on a windows computer, but I have issues now that I use a Mac. I switched to evernote due to the complications. The mobile app could be better as well.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft OneNote:**

If you are a heavy Microsoft users then it should be great. I prefer Evernote. It's all about preference.

**What problems is Microsoft OneNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

taking notes and keeping organized
