## Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management Reviews
 ### 1. Use of MS Project For Scheduling

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bob D. | Project Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

As is the case with most Microsoft products, Project interfaces fairly well with them.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

Perhaps it is how we have used MS Project in the past, but it seems management of the schedule in Project becomes a project unto itself, but really doesn't drive the correct behaviors to best manage a project.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

I would strongly recommend using something less complex for smaller projects as it is cumbersome at times and, as mentioned previously, really falls short in driving the correct behaviors on program/project teams.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As mentioned above, we typically use MS Project for scheduling large ($50-150M) programs. I am not convinced that we have realized much benefit from its use. It is required by our customers for most programs.

 ### 2. Awesome software for Project Management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carla M. | Executive Assistant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

I love how easy it is to keep up with team members throughout the project duration and have track of what is to be done next and love the different type of representation possible like graphical, pie chart and other cost analysis.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

I felt I needed to take a training course to understand the full capabilities of MS Project. Some features are easy to learn but I did feel confident using the program until I had taken the training.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

Definitely give it a try - it will surprise you with it's intuitive software.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy to use with visibility to chart views makes it easy to plan project deadlines. Like Excel, the columns and rows are simple to add. With this product, the project can be easily manage. The chart views are useful for presentation and report. Another good feature is timeline feature. With that, one can project the duration and tasks.

 ### 3. Good software for track and manage projects

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Guillermo V. | Program Management Office Lead, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

The software is really robust for track and manage the complete project cycle of every project in the company. you can manage the resources of the company and how are they assigned to the projects, you can keep the cost and schedule (start and end date and time) on every single task within the project. The Gantt chart or project map is really cool and it's made in real time within the application.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

The software is designed to track and manage really big projects, which is really cool and is the main focus of the application, but sometimes it feels the software is too big and complex to manage really simple projects.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

The licensing could be a little pricey, but the software is really robust and allows the tracking of the complete company portfolio of projects. In some cases, the soft ware comes bundled with some of the premium versions of Microsoft Office, which could be really good if you also use Microsoft Office within your company, so you won't have to buy it as a separate package.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In our company we keep track of several concurrent projects, and with the help of the project server it helps to manage all the resources within the company and which one is applied to each project. The reports are really cool and easy to get and are specially useful for our scheduled weekly meetings with the customers.

 ### 4. The mother system and the best

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Printing | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

He is the most famous project manager in the world, and apart from that it is for MS he is the best. His management of projects, milestones of resource management, times, ... could not be better. Established a base that others follow.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

Something bad is hard to put, for example that you should implement more different printing options as a result, since it is the most deficient you have.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

I think it has no recommendation, it is the best.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creation of projects for printing implementation in large projects.

 ### 5. Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management review

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elliot Hon Yuan N. | Civil Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

Being a project coordinator and having tried so many other ways of managing projects, Microsoft Project Online was really what I was looking for in terms of a Project Management tool. Our organization has tried so many tools over the years, but at the end of the day, Project really offers a lot. Being able to download the desktop version as well as working online is great. The best part is the tool itself though. Being able to visual projects and put it all into perspective for stakeholders is key and Project Online does that. Is it a beast?

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

There is a lot to it and unless you get some training on it, you probably won't be able to fully utilize it for its true worth. However, having tried many different tools, at the end of the day this is the only one that I've found covers the bases we need covered from managing resources to laying out the activities and tasks that need to be done.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

You're going to have key stakeholders that won't champion it. Because there is a lot to understanding how to utilize Microsoft Project, it can be confusing and seem inferior or completely useless and no better than an Excel Workbook. It may look like one on the surface, but Excel won't give you a fraction of the power without lots of macros, VBA and formulas and even then you'll likely be missing out on a lot.

 ### 6. Microsoft project is one of the most used software for PMO in latin america

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jose Alejandro C. | SAP Basis Netweaver Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 12, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

I have been working with microsoft project for atleast 5 years, i have also been involved in teams of many countrys and kind of company, and i have noticed that almost all of them do use this software for their tracking and planning of the project, it did impress me, because i though it wasn't so used, even with companies of the U.S. they are using microsoft project.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

This is an software that has many tricky things, they do have a lot of options and kind of track and save your progress or not in a short, medium or long term project, so you will need to speed time to get used to it and to customize it to your needs.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

Many of us, people that work on IT world, are familiar to microsoft software, so if you buy microsoft project you will get a first class software for planning an project, you can assign the responsible of each action, the times that it will take, the priorities, which of them can be simultaneous, and if you get a variation of the expected time, and real time, you can see why that happened, its very complete for any kind of company and activity that you want to do.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In the past, i did use another software to do planning and tracking of process, but with this microsoft project, now i can see if something is taking its normal road, if it did get stoped, and why that happened, becuase there i can see who was the team in charge and can do an tracing to it more efficient.

**Reviewed by:** Daniela G. | Arquitecto, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 07, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

The program is easy to use, the data loading, the definition of dates, the assignment of responsible and the use of time is very intuitive. It is worth pointing out that basic reports on the status of the project can be easily obtained. MS project complies with the statutes defined by the PMI.

It is recommended for beginners in the area of project management or researchers, operates on windows with the same office design but is not included in the office package.
It is worth mentioning that the outputs of the program is compatible with all the programs of the project management area, almost universally.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

One of the negative aspects is the cost and that it does not have an extensive development of the risk area of the project, as well as the areas of management of time and resources, it is very cumbersome to print the results of the Gantt diagram

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

I recommend the program because it allows to work several areas of knowledge defined by the PMI, it does not include risks and stakeholders but it works for the rest of the moments of the project. Works on Windows and requires an investment in the license

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used the program in the development of my degree work, I work employment to follow up on construction projects, rehabilitation of spaces, distribution of inputs and heavy work tools along with the management of operators. It is ideal for simple projects and should be complemented with other programs for risk management.

It allows you to input information easily and spits out beautiful gantt charts. You can easily make changes and everything gets updated automatically.

It is a great starting tool for people looking to manage projects, programs, and all associated tasks. It is user friendly and there is a lot of support in case you want to get training.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am trying to keep track of all the different project milestones and deadlines, and I'm using onepager as an add on, which enables me to export the gantt charts into powerpoint presentations.

 ### 10. An essential tool for the manager's daily routine

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 18, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

It is a tool that uses the most widespread standards in the planning of activities and resources in the world of project management. The greatest advantage is its intuitive visual interface (WYSIWYG), wide adoption in different companies and departments, which allows you to share your plans without compatibility issues.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

I miss a stronger integration in the Office package (it is not integrated by default). It is also complicated to manage document versions if they have been created with a version of the software that is newer than the one you have.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

For compatibility and wide availability. It is widely spread and used as a project management tool.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a very useful tool for planning, detecting conflicts, and, above all, detecting deviations in execution.

 ### 11. Great Scheduling Program

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Industrial Automation | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

I love the visualization of this program to be able to schedule out a project and then be able to see each task and how they relate to each other as well as see what the timeline is for a project.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

I dislike how difficult it is to set up the predecessors and how tasks relate to each other. I have had quite a few issues trying to schedule out a project and keeping dates in line with what actually needs to be done.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

I would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs to schedule out tasks and projects but there is a long learning curve to figure out all of the intricacies.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management, I am able to solve business problems of scheduling and building timelines for projects.

 ### 12. Great way to organize the team schedule.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ujay K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

I like the wide range of how much detail you want to put into the schedule. Having the options to make a simple gantt vs a wide, multifuncitoning schedule lets me have the flexibility depending on what my clients want to see.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

Sometimes, the scheduling becomes a pain with the auto-adjustments when you shift the schedule. It would be good to have more intuitive controls for that.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

Take some time to run through some tutorials prior to completing scheduling. It's a powerful tool if used correctly.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Scheduling becomes really and keeps the team organized.

 ### 13. Familiar MIcrosoft features unsure about usefullness

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kayla J. | Quality Technician, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 01, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

Offers a variety of display options for reports that are different from what you would typically see.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

If you are proficient with Excel it may seem unnecessary to have this product. True for myself, I almost always prefer a well made spreadsheet.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

Fully evaluate the software before purchase, make sure you don't already have something in place that can fulfill the requirements. For the cost of adding Project, Excel can do most of the same features if you know how to build a spreadsheet.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allows ease of visibility with project collaboration.

 ### 14. Project /GANTT

I dislike how expensive it is but I’m glad there’s ways to subsidize the price.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

I would say be familiar with the different things you are able to do on the platform but some practice would go a long way. Seems like a lot at first but it is very efficient for managing your projects.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Group collaboration, project management, Gantt charts, WBS graphs and other visuals.

 ### 16. Microsoft Project is very useful to manage projects

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

I like the way you can see the total of the Project and also the specific parts. you can traslate the time, resources and materials in costs and follow the Project. You can foresee durations and you can estimate the end

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

Microsoft Project is not very intuitive. You have to know the platform to know exactly what to do or probably you don't find the tool you need. For the rest, it seems a very useful tool to design a project or a construction phase

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

Try to improve the interface.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

You can know the resources you have to invest to finish a project on time.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

 ### 19. Microsoft Project really helps keep me on task and organized.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh R. | IT Core Operations Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 06, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

I like how robust Microsoft project is. I can track costs, milestones, resource, due dates, etc. all withing one project. I can honestly say it is a Microsoft Product that works and works well.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

There is a steep learning curve which is one of it's downfall. Once you learn the software it isn't too bad. Another downfall is how ugly it looks when printed out. If everyone has project and you can show it inside the software then all is good. But if you have to print something out for a meeting, it gets messy.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

If you are a project manager and are having trouble keeping things on task, this will be exactly what you will need. This tool is the best one on the market.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am a project manager and it helps me be as efficient at my job as possible.

 ### 20. Not Great

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Katharine R. | Product Manager, Marketing and Advertising, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

Very easy to make charts to see personnel allocations

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

Microsoft Projects is miserable if you are used to Excel. You cannot sort, export to Excel, make mass changes or expand all the tasks within your project. It takes more time to do small tasks in Projects than 90% of my work on a daily basis.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

You can make excellent charts within Projects to see how your team is allocated. However, if you are using it to track tasks, you are much better off using Excel.

 ### 21. Extremely effective and user friendly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nandita V. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 06, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

Scheduling in MS Project - It is super easy to create tasks and add durations and relationships. It is very intuitive and even a new user can learn it within few hours.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

Mostly none, An additional feature where I can change the calendar days to work days vice versa would be great.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

Nothing.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I prepare schedules for construction project. It's much easier and user friendly.

 ### 22. MS Project 2016 gets the job done

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John E. | Contract Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

Integration with MS Office suite of products

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

Limited convenience and functionality compared with Oracle Primavera, for example

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

Good to look around and evaluate, depending upon your budget. I prefer bigger more powerful applications like Oracle Primavera P6, but that's much more expensive. MS Project 2016, as I use it was about $1000.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Development of detailed project schedule for building deactivation and decommissioning project as part of a Detailed Cost Estimate. Benefits include providing a working tool to collaborate and facilitate the overall estimate, creating realistic durations for task level scope of work.

 ### 23. MSP

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

It is very easy and intuitive to use. It is very good for academic reasons, since it is good at precise things and hence helps students to focus more on the application of the software and not learning it.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

It does not have a wide functionality, even though that is what makes it easier to use than other software.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

I am not using it much. I use more Primavera P6 than Microsoft Project. And, the reason for this is wide functionality of Primavera P6. So, if there is something Microsoft wants to improve, it can increase Microsoft Project's applications.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Scheduling, Estimation, Resource Management, Cash flows, Project and Portfolio Management

 ### 24. Overall Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management is a great tool to manage time sensitive projects.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

The best part of this tool as compared to any other similar tools in my opinion is the ease of use and user friendly interface. There were a few people in my team who did not know how to use it but I was impressed with how quickly and easy it was for everyone to learn and start using it. Also, MPPM is easy when it comes to making changes in a schedule. I also like the way the reporting module is setup. It has a lot of good templates.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

One drawback about MPPM in my opinion is the lack of detail that can be attached to a certain line item. Now this is subjective to the type of project but in terms of construction I feel it would be good to have an option to add more details to activities.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem that I solved using MPPM was project scheduling. Scheduling is a very critical portion of any construction project and MPPM makes it easy to make as well as manage a schedule.

 ### 29. Great for managing multiple projects timeline, not very flexible to make chart presentable

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lynn O. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

Ability to adjust timeline of multiple tasks when adjusting one can affect another. You can either manually schedule the tasks, or you can select to have MS Project automatically schedule the tasks based on the task data you input. You can adjust start-finish timeline of the following tasks when the predecessor task finish time changes. MS Project also shows the final project timeline in a nice gantt chart for you to have an overview of the whole project. The % progress bar is also an option, which makes it easy to visualize the progress of the project. I also like the ability to add subprojects and linking projects, making it easier to see how one change impacts another in a different project. Reporting tab also gives out a nice pie chart or bar chart to show project progress.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

The visualisation of the chart. There are not many choices of nice icons to use. Adjusting fonts and sizes of the chart is quite difficult or not very flexible. The row height is also not easy to get it the the right height for my usage, unlike using MS Excel. The icons are quite small to see on the screen or on paper. All in all, I find it challenging in trying to make the gantt chart looks more presentable in a meeting room because the icons and texts are usually too small.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

Might need to combine with other software like Tableau, MS Powerpoint to make a better presenation

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Product development project timeline

It's not that easy to use and could be more integrated with differents add-ins. MS Projject trys to do everything and it can be an advantage or a mistake.

It's to embracing, so you can do everything, but you may face a hard time to learn how.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

 ### 36. The best for team performance Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alfredo B. | Administrador de sistemas y redes, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

this software allows you to perform Project AP that provides you with templates and shortens the time you spend putting things in their place. You can focus on the depth of the information you are sending instead of throwing something together and it does not appear to be professional and the information is lost. On the other hand, it allows you to invite a team to the project to the project you are doing. This is very useful when delegating functions and information and having the staff work as a team in different components of a project.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

It is somewhat limited and can cause headaches. Since it does not possess what you are asked to proportion. When bringing new team members, it is safe to give them a preview of the software to make sure they can use the product and keep up with the project. On the other hand, the cost of this license is quite expensive and this may result in small and medium-sized companies not being able to afford it.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

It would be quite useful if the license cost prices were lowered since that would increase sales, it would be more pupular among the companies and this would make the application much more popular

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With the time and enough project you can create certain numbers of drafts of some projects already done so that you can save time and make each project faster, I can simply edit it in the image of my team faster. While using the software, I was able to see the project and show the process when it was requested.

 ### 37. MS Project Delivers Results

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jon F. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

I love (love!) that I can sync my Project Pro 2016 files with task lists on SharePoint sites.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

I dislike the license cost for each Project Pro 2016 seat.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

So...here's the deal. We don't want to use Project Pro 2016. We want to use the Office 365 MS Project Online application. But our IT hasn't enable this application and very likely won't be enabling the Project Online application within the next calendar year. My recommendation would be to use Project Online. However, MS Project Pro 2016 is a great alternative especially if your enterprise utilizes the SharePoint environment as well. Be prepared for a small learning curve in getting started with using Project Pro 2016 productively but nearly as bad as some other online project management applications. Also, *big recommendation*: learn the Project Pro 2016 shortcut keys for adding tasks, summaries, indenting and outdenting tasks etc. Suuuuuper helpful!

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One of the biggest problems that we're solving with MS Project Pro 2016 is collaboration and communication of project plans, backlogs, and tasks. Syncing Project files with task lists on our PMO SharePoint pages is a huge win for us team of PMs. This feature makes it very easy to communicate information about the progress on a project in almost real time. Love it.

 ### 38. Good and easy for managing project and monitoring it.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** ishnat s. | Software Engineer, Information Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

MS project has capability of managing project along with making its portfolio at the same time. Ms project with the use of different charts and diagrams shows us the collective work for developed software. The cost of the project accounting every resource available ca be calculated with MS project and the portfolio can made accordingly.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

The one feature dislike about MS project is the amount of unwanted features which are sometimes obstacle in the project development. The scheduling, resource planning and cost estimation cant be incorporated in any other project management tool.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

For all the beginners to college students to project managers i would strongly recommend this software for managing the software development .

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am regular user of MS project and portfolio management as it has helped me in solving many project management related problems like estimating the cost ,planning the software with the schedule.

 ### 39. Extremely helpful every single day.

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

The program allows me to organize a schedule in a matter of minutes or hours. The shortcuts are extremely helpful when it comes saving time.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

I think the program can become confusing when it comes to being able to organize each column and row. I believe the chart can be a little difficult to understand unless you are the one who organized it.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

It can save you a lot of time in the design/construction industry and help you organize the building of project smoothly.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

 ### 40. Project

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aubrey W. | Consultant, Higher Education, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2017

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

The Project and Portfolio ap provides you with templates and shortens the time you spend on putting things in place. You can focus on the depth of the information you are sending out rather than throwing something together and it does not appear professional and the information is missed. You can also invite your team into the project. This works well when delegating information and having staff work on different components of a project.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

The software is somewhat limiting and can cause frustration because it doesnt have what you are being asked to provide. When bringing in new team members it is safe to give them a preview of the software to make sure they can utilize the product and keep up the pace of the project.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been able to put together a rough draft of a project quicker, saving time stress and can edit it to the likeness of my team quicker. While using the software I have been able to view the project and show the process when asked.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

The only thing i dislike about MS project is the tools still an underrated amongst the software engineers as the Microsoft like Giant havent been totally focusing totally on the development of the tool which results in less popularity amongst other tools who are specially build for industry project like Altassians JIRA.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

As MS project is a great tool for development and maintaining portfolio in recent times due to its ease of use and its functionalities which satisfies almost everyones need.

 ### 45. GREAT FOR PROJECT MANAGEMENT

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Riddhika J. | Product Development Manager, Flotation, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

There are certain features of the software that makes it most desirable for me is I can customize and make the project schedule as detailed I want including allocating the resources and task, sub task and critical tasks. Or I can make it as simple as needed with just dates and tasks.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

- The cost of the product license which limits the number of team resources that can have access to the project.
-The software needs little bit of training before using so its hard for everybody to use and follow.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

Be prepared to give your team a full day of training before they know how to use the tool effectively.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use MP for creating the R&D project schedule and resource allocation. I have used it for several projects to ensure the on time delivery and estimate the critical timing for each project.

 ### 46. Projects vs. P6

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

The shortcuts are intuitive and better than other comparable softwares. P6 for example has very difficult methods for navigating work breakdown structures whereas in Projects it's much easier.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

Connecting to other programs for other companies who use other softwares is difficult. Importing/exporting from Projects to P6 never really works, and if it's advertised as an option it needs to be somewhat functional.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:**

Look into available training material. I'm not familiar with what resources are available, but I learned my softwares solely through in-office training. I think that between the options of P6 and Projects, they are similar enough that you should use the product that most people in your office are stronger with.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Opportunities to minimize schedule risk. Easy critical path analysis/float analysis.

 ### 47. Excellent Gantt Chart Manager that could use some easier indexing features

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

Excellent way to track progress of projects with and see impacts of delays to certain plans

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

The logic functions of the program are difficult to navigate. Making conditional statements or hierarchy relationships between two actions can be tricky

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Program management and project timing

 ### 48. Excellent for Scheduling

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michaela B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

Very user friendly and easy to understand, there are lots of options to customize the schedule

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

Cost/ Budget portion is not well developed
As well if you have a lot of activities happening on the same day the formatting does not keep up well and stuff gets cut off easily

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides an open platform to do scheduling and project planning

 ### 49. The best tool for project managers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 05, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

Full visibility of all tasks and deliverables across multiple projects. I can get the big picture across multiple project streams in my programs and easily track progress of each deliverable and milestone. I like that I can share subsets of data with specific stakeholders and integrate with other MS products for a real one stop shop.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?**

MS project is a powerful, yet sometimes intimidating tool for the new Project Manager, or non PM resource. It has at times been difficult to get buy in from non PM resources to leverage all that MS Project has to offer.

**What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MS project gives me a one stop shop for PM functions. It allows me to effectively allocate resources, collaborate with stakeholders and delivery teams, and track progress across multiple project streams. While I've used various tools for this purpose, MS Project is by far the best.
