Top Rated Microsoft Power BI Alternatives
The platform is quite easy to navigate, even for first time users. The tool provides ample options to customise reports. We have also been able to embed Power BI reports into other internal platforms that we use for a seemless experience between the two platforms for our users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are very few options to customise how the report appears when it's embedded, and as a result has made the layout a little strange in our platform where it's embedded. The icons you can hover to change viewing options in parts of the reports also can be quite small and not so easy to notice for new users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Best about Power BI is that it provides a very user friendly and beginner friendly interface to all the users.
It is used to integrate several Databases such as CSV, Excel or Online Databases such as MSSQL and others.
It supports large number of databases and have an inbuilt power query editor which can do data transformation between PowerBI only, no need of external software.
It have a very vast customer support team as its a product of Microsoft and they serve their customers the best. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Its typical to type code in DAX language, as its typical to learn DAX because first we need to learn that DAX language then we can write measures.
So anyone could access power bi dashboard directly but cannot create dashboards directly as you need to have knowledge about coding and DAX language with strong logic building skills. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Most helpful features for a new user like me is a user-friendly interface, ease of intergration with Excel and other SQL databases which allows for real-time data access, custom visualization and more. Upsides of using Power BI would be its integration with other Microsoft Products - I have Copilot work and can use this with Power BI with is powerful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The downsides to Power BI I have found is the confusion on how to get started, cost for advanced features, and there can be a learning curve to use the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I feel Tableau has more features when it comes to visulization. Its pricing tier could get confusing at time (pro,premium). Although it has data import option (Get Data) in both PowerBI Desktop and PowerBI Service, which is great for getting data from different sources but it only helps in getting data from Microsoft products majorly. Organization that do not use Microsoft products much often won't have that much frequency of use of powerBI. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

For anyone already used to the Microsoft ecosystem, PowerBI delivers a combination of a user-friendly interface and powerful analytics.
- It's easy to use: the drag-and-drop interface makes building reports intuitive;
- It has advanced capabilities: more advanced users can take advantage of DAX, M, and custom visuals for complex analysis;
- Most tools in the market already have an integration option with PWBI, besides, as it is part of the Microsoft family, Power BI integrates smoothly with Excel, Azure, and others. This makes it easy to transition between tools and leverage existing workflows, especially for businesses using the Microsoft suite.
- There's extensive documentation, training options, and a community around the tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Although the tool itself is user-friendly, there is a learning curve for advanced features (e.g.: DAX, power query, data modeling) which can be challenging if you don't follow a more structured training.
Besides, PWBI can struggle with very large datasets. Being an experienced user is required in this case, otherwise one can perish. Optimizing performance requires careful attention to data modeling, query efficiency, and often, compromises in visual complexity.
Version control and collaboration are not a thing. I don't see it as an option for multiple people making changes in the same report. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The interface can be overwhelming for first-time users, especially if they lack data tool experience. The performance can sometimes slow down when working with very large datasets. Setting up more advanced features requires a bit of a learning curve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
