  ### 38. One of my favorite tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Microsoft Forms?**

Forms integrates with all Microsoft applications, so I can easily send out polls, forms, etc. through email. It also works with PowerAutomate to populate databases with the information provided. This allows me to cut back on the time spent on data--our previous process was a paper form filled out and filed with a data entry clerk, who then had to enter the data into a computer manually. This was very redundant and such a waste of time, and Microsoft Forms has eliminated the need for any middlemen when paired with PowerAutomate and my databases.

In addition, these forms can be hosted in Microsoft Teams and made accessible to my staff across any device they may be using--phone, tablet, iPad, PC, etc. I also love the ability to share forms for editing or filling, as well as the ability to limit who can fill out a form and how many times they may do so.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Forms?**

I'd like more available options for question types than are currently available. The current options are useful, but there have been many times I wished I was able to add a different type of question based on the information I needed to gather--Forms is currently more geared toward educational or basic informational questions.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Forms:**

I'd recommend making full use of all the available integrations. These integrations are the driving force behind what makes Forms such a powerful tool to use. Also, it's extremely easy to copy a form and revise it for another purpose to save yourself some time and energy!

In particular, the Microsoft Teams integration, the Outlook add-in, and the PowerAutomate triggers are incredibly useful to keep business running smoothly, data collected seamlessly, and everyone on the same page. The Outlook integration is fantastic for quick polls to your team, and the Forms chat add-in for Microsoft Teams serves this purpose as well.

**What problems is Microsoft Forms solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm solving the problems of keeping paper copies of documents, then having to have them entered into digital databases, which was a waste of time and effort.

Instead, I've coupled Forms with PowerAutomate and Excel to create a seamless process where data is entered into the form and automatically populates my Excel databases. It saves so much time!

The UI is easy to work with - it's painless to create surveys, and incorporate survey logic into the form. The range of questions (short answer, MCQ, rating) etc. and validation options are comparable to peers and easy to find.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Forms?**

Some options that are commonly used (e.g. changing radio buttons to a drop-down box for an MCQ question) are hidden under other options (...) which means additional clicks are needed if the question type is commonly used.

**What problems is Microsoft Forms solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to create surveys that are linked to my Microsoft account (i.e. one stop shop) so it's easy to collate data for analysis, as compared to external solutions where integration isn't as easy

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aden R. | Health Science Technologies Program Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 11, 2022

**What do you like best about Microsoft Forms?**

The best part of Microsoft forms is that it is included in Microsoft Office 365. Our organization has Office 365, and Microsoft Forms is one of the tools that is included. This means we don't have to go sign up for another form of software.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Forms?**

There are limited options for types of question formats. This limits the functionality of Microsoft Forms. It also limits the collection of information we want. Other software has better types of questions that allows a user to gather the information they need without having to use multiple questions.
