## Microsoft Entra ID Reviews
 ### 1. EntraID: Seamless M365 Integration, Powerful Automation, and Phenomenal Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Antonio D. | Lead Product Engineer, Financial Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 20, 2026

**What do you like best about Microsoft Entra ID?**

We've found that EntraID (which replaced Azure AD) is super integrated and easy to implement. It's built into our M365 subscriptions and the customer support is phenomenal. For most of our daily products we rely on it under the hood. It has a ton of features that allow us to manage license assignments and automate group allocations and permissions and roles across various products. For myself, as a dev as well as a user, I use it daily without it being in my way and it's really easy to integrate and use.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Entra ID?**

Unfortunately, one of the most advertised and demoed features, such as automatic access reviews or advanced risk-based sign-in protection, depends on the most expensive Premium P2 license. That isn’t made very obvious, and the licensing matrix around EntraID is not always easy to understand or work with. On top of that, there have been a lot of deprecations that frustrate long-time Azure AD users, especially around older tools like MSOnline PowerShell. This can be particularly annoying for SysAdmins in environments that were using Azure AD well before EntraID replaced it.

**What problems is Microsoft Entra ID solving and how is that benefiting you?**

EntraID provides our business with SSO and a central point for user access management, onboarding, and related tasks. It lets us control where users can sign in to business resources, and it also gives users a single set of credentials, which simplifies access. Most of our users sign in to web services using their Windows account, which is provisioned to their machine through our domain via EntraID / Azure Active Directory. This helps us manage and track access, and reduce unauthorized use of various services. Access to servers and other resources is managed through groups, with approvals handled by managers using a third-party tool we built in-house around EntraID.

 ### 2. Strong, Scalable Identity Platform with Seamless Integration and Robust Security

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Manjunath K. | Lead-Compute & Tools Admin, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 19, 2026

**What do you like best about Microsoft Entra ID?**

Microsoft Entra ID provides a strong and scalable identity platform with seamless integration across Microsoft 365, Azure, and third-party applications. Features like Conditional Access, MFA, and Single Sign-On significantly improve security while enhancing user experience. Centralized identity management, granular access controls, and strong compliance capabilities make it well-suited for enterprise and hybrid environments.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Entra ID?**

Advanced security features are heavily license-dependent, which increases cost for enterprises. Troubleshooting Conditional Access and authentication issues can be complex due to limited error transparency. The portal experience can feel fragmented at times, and changes or updates are not always clearly communicated, which can impact administration and learning curves

**What problems is Microsoft Entra ID solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Microsoft Entra ID helps address identity sprawl, inconsistent access controls, and security risks across cloud and hybrid environments. By centralizing identity and access management, it supports secure Single Sign-On, strong authentication with MFA, and Conditional Access based on user, device, and risk signals. As a result, it helps reduce unauthorized access, strengthen compliance, streamline user lifecycle management, and lower operational overhead, while still delivering a consistent and secure user experience.

 ### 3. Seamless Identity Management with Robust Security Features

**Reviewed by:** Kanga Y. | System Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Microsoft Entra ID?**

What I like best about Microsoft Entra ID is how seamlessly it manages identity and access across the organisation. Its strong security features like conditional access, MFA, and risk-based controls make it easy to implement a solid Zero Trust approach. It integrates smoothly with Microsoft 365 and third-party apps, simplifies user lifecycle management, and offers helpful self-service options that reduce IT workload. The clear visibility through logs and reporting also makes monitoring and troubleshooting much easier.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Entra ID?**

What I dislike about Microsoft Entra ID is that some features are complex to configure, and important settings are spread across multiple admin portals. Licensing can also be confusing, with key security features locked behind higher-tier plans. Troubleshooting conditional access issues can sometimes feel slow and complicated.

**What problems is Microsoft Entra ID solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Microsoft Entra ID is solving the challenge of securely managing user identities, access, and authentication across all our apps and devices. It centralises user management, automates provisioning, and enforces strong security controls like MFA and conditional access. This helps reduce security risks, improves compliance, and saves time for IT by streamlining onboarding, offboarding, and access control. Overall, it provides a more secure and efficient identity management system for the organisation.

 ### 4. Azure Active Directory Review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Syed M. | Service Delivery Manager, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2022

**What do you like best about Microsoft Entra ID?**

Azure is very cost-effective because of its pay-as-you-go model. I only pay for what I use, which helps manage budgets and avoid unnecessary spending. It lets me run both customer and internal apps in the cloud, saving on hardware and maintenance costs. Scaling is easy—I can increase or decrease resources with just a click. Security is strong with features like multi-factor authentication and app passwords, so data stays safe. Plus, Azure offers high availability with a 99.95% SLA, which means services are reliable and always up.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Entra ID?**

Using Azure IaaS requires ongoing patching and diligent server monitoring, which is different from SaaS solutions where much of this maintenance is managed for you. It also demands a certain level of expertise, as all the various components must operate smoothly together. One frequent error is over-provisioning resources—what functions well on local servers may not be suitable for the cloud, potentially resulting in avoidable expenses. Without sufficient knowledge, businesses risk spending thousands more than necessary.

**What problems is Microsoft Entra ID solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Azure Active Directory (AAD) is both cost-effective and user-friendly. It integrates seamlessly with a wide range of platforms and applications, whether they are on-premises or cloud-based. The service supports Single Sign-On (SSO) combined with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR), making access management straightforward. Security is robust, featuring monitoring and alerts for any unusual login attempts. AAD also ensures high availability and offers conditional access, as well as Privileged Identity Management (PIM), which provides an audit trail to monitor suspicious activity on privileged accounts. The MFA options are diverse, including app authentication, tokens, SMS, and voice calls, which adds to its flexibility and security.

 ### 5. Streamlined Access and Robust Security with Entra ID

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jenson S. | Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Microsoft Entra ID?**

I love Microsoft Entra ID for its seamless integration with a wide range of applications and services, both inside and outside the Microsoft ecosystem. Its Conditional Access policies give me granular control over user access, which allows for tailored security based on user identity, device compliance, and location. The single sign-on (SSO) capability enhances user experience while keeping robust security standards intact. Overall, Entra ID effectively balances security and usability, making identity management simpler for organizations. Additionally, the initial setup was perfect and easy.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Entra ID?**

One area for improvement is the complexity of certain advanced features, which can make configuration and troubleshooting challenging for less experienced administrators. Additionally, more intuitive guidance or pre-built templates for common scenarios would be beneficial. Reporting and auditing capabilities, while robust, could be more user-friendly and customizable.

**What problems is Microsoft Entra ID solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Microsoft Entra ID to address identity sprawl, weak authentication, and access complexity, which simplifies user management, enhances security, and ensures compliance, reducing IT admin overhead and improving overall efficiency.

 ### 6. Easy, Secure SSO with Strong MFA and Seamless Microsoft Integration

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2026

**What do you like best about Microsoft Entra ID?**

What I like best about Microsoft Entra ID is how easy and secure it makes access to Microsoft 365 and other applications. Single sign-on works smoothly, so users don’t need to remember multiple passwords. The security features like multi-factor authentication and conditional access add strong protection without making the login process complicated. It also integrates very well with other Microsoft tools, which makes identity management simple and reliable.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Entra ID?**

What I dislike about Microsoft Entra ID is that some advanced settings and security features can be confusing at first, especially for new users. The admin interface has many options, which can feel overwhelming without proper guidance. Also, troubleshooting access or sign-in issues sometimes takes time because of the multiple policies involved.

**What problems is Microsoft Entra ID solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Microsoft Entra ID solves the problem of managing user identities and secure access across multiple applications. It provides a single sign-on experience, so users can access Microsoft 365 and other connected apps with one account. This reduces password fatigue and improves security through features like multi-factor authentication. As a result, access is more secure, login issues are reduced, and managing accounts is much easier.

 ### 7. Comprehensive IAM with Robust Security Features

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** M S. | Specalist Systems Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Microsoft Entra ID?**

I like that Microsoft Entra ID provides a centralized identity platform with built-in security features such as Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Conditional Access, and access governance. This setup helps reduce risk, supports compliance requirements, and allows for secure remote and hybrid work. I appreciate the seamless integration with Microsoft 365 and other cloud applications, which boosts productivity while cutting down on operational complexity. Entra ID has become foundational for managing identities securely at scale.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Entra ID?**

While Microsoft Entra ID is a powerful identity platform, there are a few areas where I feel it could be improved. One challenge I experience is complexity in configuration and policy management. Features like Conditional Access and identity governance are very powerful, but they come with a learning curve. The policy setup and troubleshooting process can sometimes be difficult, especially when multiple policies interact and affect sign-in behavior. Licensing clarity is another area for improvement. Some advanced features such as Conditional Access, Identity Protection, and access governance require specific premium licenses. It’s not always straightforward to understand which features are included in which license, which can make planning and cost management more difficult. I’ve also found that documentation and UI consistency could be better. With frequent updates and rebranding from Azure AD to Entra ID, some documentation and portal navigation still feel inconsistent or outdated, which can slow down implementation and troubleshooting. Troubleshooting sign-in issues can sometimes be time-consuming. While logs are detailed, identifying the exact reason for access failures or policy blocks isn’t always intuitive, particularly for less experienced administrators. Lastly, integration with non-Microsoft or legacy applications occasionally requires additional configuration or workarounds compared to Microsoft-native services, where the experience is much smoother.

**What problems is Microsoft Entra ID solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Microsoft Entra ID centralizes identity management, strengthens security with MFA and Conditional Access, and enables seamless SSO, simplifying remote work. It improves governance and compliance with access reviews and role-based controls, integrating well with existing infrastructure to solve fragmented identity management and enhance user experience.

 ### 8. Secure Access, But Needs User-Friendly Console

It makes managing user access easy and secure, allowing for smooth login across cloud and on-prem systems without major integration issues. It is useful for simplifying and securing identity and access management.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Entra ID?**

Error reporting needs improvement, and the console feels complex. Making it more user-friendly and reducing errors would create a much better experience. Connecting Microsoft Entra ID with some legacy apps can be tricky, as older systems sometimes need extra configuration. Going hybrid with Entra ID is more complex, and you’ll need an expert for hybrid configuration—without one, it’s very hard to manage.

**What problems is Microsoft Entra ID solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Microsoft Entra ID for effortless identity and access management. It ensures secure app access with single sign-on, integrating seamlessly with our hybrid Active Directory for smooth authentication across cloud and on-prem systems.

I use Microsoft Entra ID for client authentication in internal projects because it offers easy and quick access through users' Microsoft accounts along with a promising authentication service. It eliminates the need for other paid tools and ensures faster, safer, and more reliable authentication. I particularly like its reliability and security, as we have never encountered authentication holes, and our clients have never complained about security issues. Additionally, when used together with SharePoint, Microsoft Entra ID works wonders by ensuring total authentication based on the user's group.

So we faced problem when we used it with Vite & React. The handshake couldn't be completed so it was kind of tough to implement it with such projects. So sometimes it can be very complicated to implement it in some projects that are not based out of the Microsoft ecosystem. If they can improve their libraries and ensure that developers can use it easily, would be the best. Even an improved documentation and a quick walkthrough would be really a gamechanger for the developers to adopt it. Easy with Microsoft ecosystem products, tougher with the non-Microsoft entities.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Microsoft Entra ID?**

I use Microsoft Entra ID for centralizing and managing user identities, which is incredibly helpful. One of the standout features is Conditional Access, which I find to be a real security control. It allows me to enforce risk-based access decisions based on multiple risk vectors rather than static rules. I also appreciate the support for SAML, SCIM, OIDC, and OAuth, which reduces the need for custom identity work. Microsoft Entra ID scales well without additional operational overhead. The initial setup was incredibly easy, and I love how it enables identity to function as a control plane, adapting access decisions in real time and integrating almost all applications effortlessly.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Entra ID?**

One of the bigger issues with Entra ID that I have had is self-inflicted. Conditional Access is incredibly powerful, but too many policies can cause overlapping issues and eventually you have a spiderweb of policy that is difficult to reason through and untangle. In addition, I've found that licensing between tiers can be confusing when trying to determine which identity protections are available without additional purchases. There isn't too much off the top of my head, potentially better tooling around policy versioning and one-click rollbacks with Conditional Access would be useful.

**What problems is Microsoft Entra ID solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Microsoft Entra ID to centralize and manage user identities, solving identity sprawl. With it, I federate identities and control tool access, benefiting from Conditional Access for adaptive security and support for standards like SAML and OAuth to ease integration, all while scaling without operational overhead.

 ### 35. Microsoft Entra ID Improved Our Security, but Setup and Cost Were Challenges

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nithish C. | Aws Cloud Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Microsoft Entra ID?**

In our organisation we had a scenario where few users were accessing applications from outside network without proper VPN. Earlier it was very hard to track and control this. After moving to Microsoft Entra ID, conditional access made it much easier. We blocked risky sign in and enforced MFA only when users are outside trusted locations. This reduced lot of security alerts and gave us more confidence in user access. I also liked the Single Sign-On feature, because before we had multiple passwords issues, and now users just sign in once to access Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and even third-party apps. It saves time and reduced password reset tickets for our IT team.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Entra ID?**

The main challenge I faced is during hybrid setup with our on-premises Active Directory. The sync setup with Azure AD Connect was not very difficult, and some group policies did not reflect properly at first. Also, the admin portal sometimes feels complicated. And also, the cost of P1/P2 licenses is higher compared to basic identity tools, so for smaller organisations it can be a bit heavy.

**What problems is Microsoft Entra ID solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In our organisation the main problem was managing multiple logins and controlling user access securely. People used to maintain separate passwords for different apps, which created confusion and many passwords reset requests. With Entra ID, SSO solved this issue users sign in once and get access to all apps. Another big problem was risky sign in from outside network, and conditional access with MFA helped us block unauthorized access. Overall, it improved security, reduced helpdesk tickets, and made user experience much smoother

 ### 36. Secure Identity Management That Integrates Seamlessly with Microsoft Ecosystems

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fidel F. | Commercial Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Microsoft Entra ID?**

My own favorite is how it ties in so naturally to the Microsoft ecosystem — from Teams and SharePoint to Outlook and Azure. With Single Sign-On (SSO), all applications can be accessed securely by users through a single sign-in, and identities can be managed by administrators from a single point.

Conditional Access is probably the most helpful feature. It allows us to implement policies that vary based on location, device, or user risk. This allows us to have strong security without adding more hassle for users. Integration with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is also seamless and reliable.

The most significant benefits are identity management centralization, security, and scalability. It deals with hybrid environments very well — we can both on-premises and cloud identities manage. Besides, features like self-service password reset and group-based access reduce the workload for IT support.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Entra ID?**

The interface and terminology can be confusing, especially for users or admins who aren’t deeply familiar with Microsoft environments. It’s not always easy to find what you’re looking for in the portal, and advanced configurations often require PowerShell or Azure knowledge.

Some documentation is hard to follow or is obsolete, especially for setting up more complex integrations with third-party apps. In addition, license limitations restrict the use of valuable features if you're not on higher-tier plans (i.e., Entra ID P1 or P2).

The main negatives are the complexity of the advanced features and the requirement for Microsoft-specific knowledge. It's great for Microsoft-based shops, but if you're in a mixed environment, you might need additional tools or connectors. Additionally, changes can take a while to propagate between services.

**What problems is Microsoft Entra ID solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s solving the problem of fragmented identity management across multiple apps and systems. With Entra ID, we’ve unified our user authentication, reduced reliance on manual provisioning, and enhanced security with tools like MFA and risk-based access. This saves time and improves the user experience.

Entra ID enables secure access management, compliance with identity governance policy, and protection from credential-based attacks. It helps ensure business continuity through the confidence that users have always-secure and purpose-fit access — whether in the office or remote or hybrid work. It also simplifies auditing and role-based access control (RBAC).

it give us solid for SSO + MFA + Conditional Access, and it’s deeply integrated with Microsoft 365/Azure. Also provide strong eco system.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Entra ID?**

Identity tasks can bounce between Entra portal, Azure portal, Intune, Defender. Conditional Access is powerful, but when something breaks, the “why” isn’t always obvious. Sign-in logs help, but you can still spend time correlating policies, device state, token claims, and session controls.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris W. | Coo, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Microsoft Entra ID?**

The interface is reasonable for administration given what limited cability the product has.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Entra ID?**

There is a great deal to dislike. External Authentication Mechanisms doesn't support primary factors so MSFT forces me to try and go Passwordless "their way" -their implimentation of passkeys is not appropriate for enterprise use, it appears more consumer oriented. SAML integration is done through "federation" which is not granular the way Okta and every other SAML SSO is. In general the product is painful to set up, use and maintain. I haven't even started on the "hybrid" aspects with on Prem AD. It's like a sequel to a bad horror movie.

**What problems is Microsoft Entra ID solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it satisfies our SSO requirements and allows us to integrate our cloud apps into SSO. It also serves as IAM although is a complete and utter mess to manage and maintain. Conditional Access is a recipie for spaghetti policy and job security for adminstrators who thrive off of uncessesarry complexity.

 ### 49. Cloud based multi tenant IAM service to provide single sign-on.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohini S. | Data Scientist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2023

**What do you like best about Microsoft Entra ID?**

Microsoft Azure Active Directory enables users to sign up for numerous services like Azure container service, SQL databases and Azure Machine Learning and access them with a single set of credentials on the cloud. Users don't have to manage multiple login passwords for accessing resources.

Microsoft AAD can be used for smart lockout, banned list of passwords and self-reset for passwords. It can manage external identities and provide custom access to resources based on the requirement. It can be used to control identities and access devices.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Entra ID?**

Microsoft AAD can be a little bit tedious to configure and needs specialisation. The service offers excellent security and enables compliance but is not suited for a small organisation given the price attached to it, as most of the essential features are provided in Premium P2.

**What problems is Microsoft Entra ID solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Microsoft Azure Active Directory is an excellent identity management tool which saves us the hassle of keeping multiple login credentials and enhances security compliance as users don't have to maintain various logins. It is more accessible from the administrator's point of view as it enables conditional access to internal and external resources based on requirements. No other authentication system is required as it can provide a single sign-on service. The hybrid identity support enables users to access both on-premise and cloud infrastructure.

 ### 50. Microsoft Azure Active Directory (AAD)

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 29, 2023

**What do you like best about Microsoft Entra ID?**

Microsoft Azure Active Directory (AAD) is a cloud-based identity and access management (IAM) solution that provides a range of benefits for organizations. One of the primary advantages of using AAD is its ability to provide centralized management of user identities and access to resources across multiple applications and services. This can significantly simplify administration and improve security by enabling organizations to manage access to resources based on user roles, groups, and policies.

Another key benefit of AAD is its support for single sign-on (SSO), which enables users to access multiple applications and services with a single set of credentials. This can help improve productivity by reducing the need for users to remember multiple passwords and login information for different systems. Additionally, AAD provides built-in support for multi-factor authentication (MFA) to provide an extra layer of security.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Entra ID?**

There are also some potential drawbacks to consider when using AAD. One potential issue is that the cloud-based nature of the service means that organizations must rely on Microsoft to provide and maintain the infrastructure and security for the service. This can create some concerns around data privacy and security, particularly for organizations that handle sensitive or confidential data.

Another potential issue is that some learning curve or administrative overhead may be involved in configuring and managing AAD. Organizations may need to invest in training or hire additional personnel to manage the service effectively. Additionally, there may be some limitations or constraints on the types of applications and services that can be integrated with AAD, which could impact compatibility with existing systems and workflows.

**What problems is Microsoft Entra ID solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Single sign-on (SSO): AAD enables users to access multiple cloud-based applications and services with a single set of credentials, improving productivity and reducing the need for users to remember multiple passwords.
