"Unified Multi-Cloud Visibility with Actionable Secure Score and Compliance Dashboards"

5/5

What do you like best about Microsoft Defender for Cloud?

What I value most is the single pane of visibility it gives across a multi-cloud estate. We run workloads in AWS, Azure, and GCP, and Defender for Cloud lets me see posture and threats across all three in one place rather than jumping between native consoles. The Secure Score is genuinely useful — it turns a sprawling set of findings into a prioritised, measurable target, so I can show progress over time and focus effort where it actually reduces risk. The built-in regulatory compliance dashboards are another standout for us; mapping our environment against standards like PCI DSS out of the box saves a lot of manual work at audit time. And because it plugs into the wider Microsoft Defender ecosystem, the alerts don't sit in isolation — they correlate with the rest of our signals, which makes triage and incident response faster and more coherent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Defender for Cloud?

Nothing to be honestly. But it can be more simple. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Microsoft Defender for Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?

The core problem it solves for me is fragmented visibility. Running workloads across AWS, Azure, and GCP, it's easy to end up with blind spots and inconsistent security posture between platforms. Defender for Cloud pulls all of that into one place, so I can see misconfigurations, exposed resources, and threats across the whole estate without stitching together three separate native consoles. That saves real time and, more importantly, closes the gaps that tend to hide in the seams between clouds.

It also solves the prioritisation problem. Vulnerability and posture tools can bury you in findings, and the Secure Score plus CSPM recommendations turn that noise into a ranked, actionable list — so effort goes where it reduces the most risk rather than wherever the newest alert happens to point. The compliance mapping is a related win: instead of manually assembling evidence against standards like PCI DSS, I get continuous visibility into where we stand, which makes audit preparation far less painful.

The benefit overall is faster, better-informed decisions. Because the alerts correlate with the wider Microsoft Defender ecosystem rather than sitting in isolation, triage and incident response are quicker and more coherent, and I spend less time gathering context and more time actually resolving issues. "Unified Cloud Security Across Azure, AWS, GCP, and Hybrid Environments"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Microsoft Defender for Cloud?

What I like most about Microsoft Defender for Cloud is its unified approach to security. It brings together posture management, threat protection, and actionable remediation in a single platform, and it works consistently across Azure, AWS, GCP, and hybrid environments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Defender for Cloud?

One drawback of Microsoft Defender for Cloud is that managing alerts, pricing, and the many security recommendations can feel complicated and a bit overwhelming, especially for smaller teams or organizations that are new to cloud security. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Microsoft Defender for Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?

Microsoft Defender for Cloud solves cloud security challenges by continuously identifying misconfigurations, vulnerabilities, and threats across multi-cloud and hybrid environments. It benefits me by improving visibility, strengthening security posture, reducing risk, and providing actionable remediation guidance through a single platform. "Unified Multi-Cloud Dashboard That Simplifies Secure Score and Compliance Tracking"

4/5

What do you like best about Microsoft Defender for Cloud?

The unified dashboard is a massive time-saver for our team. We run a hybrid environment primarily on Azure but with quite a few workloads over in AWS. Being able to look at our Secure Score in one centralized pane rather than jumping between native cloud portals makes security posture management way easier. The regulatory compliance tracking is incredibly thorough it maps our infrastructure against CIS and NIST standards automatically, which saves us weeks of manual prep during audit season Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Defender for Cloud?

The alert fatigue is real. Out of the box, it throws an overwhelming volume of recommendations, and a lot of them turn out to be minor false positives or things that don't apply to our specific architecture. You have to spend serious time upfront creating custom exemption rules, or your team will get completely desensitized to the notifications. Also, the consumption-based billing can be unpredictable if your serverless infrastructure scales rapidly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Microsoft Defender for Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?

It bridges the gap in our cloud perimeter visibility. Before this, we had serious blind spots with developer environments spinning up rogue VMs or exposed storage buckets. Defender catches those misconfigurations in near real-time, allowing us to auto-remediate them before they become an exploit vector. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Comprehensive, Versatile Security for Cloud Environments"

5/5

What do you like best about Microsoft Defender for Cloud?

I prefer the tools that Microsoft Defender for Cloud brings compared to other Microsoft products because it's a cross-platform solution that provides an end-to-end solution portfolio, allowing me to secure a vast area with just one product. I like how it secures storage by adding Defender for Cloud data. It brings a multi-versatile experience throughout the environment. Setting it up is very easy; you can start using it after a couple of hours of configuration through the Edge portal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Defender for Cloud?

I find it challenging that Defender for containers or Kubernetes has implementation issues with local AKS, and this is an area where I believe improvements are needed. When it comes to containerization, which is widely used, I feel that more improvements should be made to enhance Microsoft Defender for Cloud in this regard. Furthermore, there is some overlap between Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Defender for Cloud, especially concerning Defender for servers, which can get a bit confusing. This overlap between SKUs could use some clarification to avoid redundancy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Microsoft Defender for Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Microsoft Defender for Cloud to protect servers, workloads, IoT, and databases, and for security posture management. It addresses compliance issues, provides a cross-platform solution, and secures vast areas, enabling us to handle adversaries efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Centralized Cloud Security with Actionable Insights and Compliance Monitoring"

4/5

What do you like best about Microsoft Defender for Cloud?

What I like best about Microsoft Defender for Cloud is its centralized cloud security management and continuous posture assessment across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. It provides actionable recommendations, automated threat protection, and compliance monitoring from a single dashboard, helping organizations quickly identify risks, strengthen security, and maintain regulatory compliance while reducing operational overhead. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Defender for Cloud?

What I dislike about Microsoft Defender for Cloud is that the licensing and feature tiers can be complex to understand, especially in large environments with multiple cloud services. Some recommendations may also generate alert fatigue or require additional tuning to reduce noise, and costs can increase as more advanced security features and workloads are enabled. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Microsoft Defender for Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?

Microsoft Defender for Cloud helps solve challenges around cloud security visibility, threat detection, vulnerability management, and compliance monitoring. "Real-Time Alerts, Effortless Cloud Security"

5/5

What do you like best about Microsoft Defender for Cloud?

I like Microsoft Defender for Cloud because of its real-time threat alerts and simple security recommendations. The dashboard is easy to use, providing a clear overview of security alerts, recommendations, and resource health all in one place. This helps us quickly identify and fix security issues. It also integrates well with Azure and Microsoft Defender XDR, giving better visibility and effective cloud security management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Defender for Cloud?

I find the setup can be a little complex for new users, and I feel some alerts can be overwhelming at first. Better customization options and a simpler onboarding experience would make it even better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Microsoft Defender for Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?

"Secures Azure VM with Ease, but Watch for UI Challenges"

4/5

What do you like best about Microsoft Defender for Cloud?

I like how Microsoft Defender for Cloud assesses my VMs for OS patches and security bugs and provides quick fixes for configuration gaps. The Secure Score feature is especially favorable because it offers a clear percentage score and outlines VM vulnerabilities by risk and overall security status. I also find the product incredibly easy to get started with, requiring just a bit more effort to understand and search the portal, but after that, it's just a 5-minute task to activate basic tiers and start scanning. The native agentless VM scanning and actionable Secure Score are unmatched timesavers, making it an excellent tool for an IT team in an Azure-heavy environment. The deep native integration and seamless deployment reduce manual deployment headaches, and the cost efficiency for Azure-heavy environments provides much more competitive, predictable billing. The zero-agent deployment and simple toggle for enabling advanced protection make setup straightforward. Consolidation of the Microsoft security stack offers instant correlation without custom API piping. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Defender for Cloud?

Microsoft Defender for Cloud features seem great, but I find it disturbing with the initial noise like triggering a heavy volume of false positives. It also requires manual effort to build. Additionally, the UI is fragmented; needing to open multiple portals like Azure portal for posture and Secure Score and Defender XDR for threat investigation is a bit cumbersome. Finally, the pricing tiers are rigid. It would be better to have just one plan that covers whatever is required, at a lower price. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Microsoft Defender for Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?

Microsoft Defender for Cloud reveals security blind spots, misconfiguration, and open ports on my VMs, helping prioritize fixes and enhance my cloud security posture across Azure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Seamless Microsoft Ecosystem Integration with Proactive Cloud Security Alerts"

4/5

What do you like best about Microsoft Defender for Cloud?

What I like most about Microsoft Defender for Cloud is how seamlessly it integrates with the Microsoft ecosystem. Since we already use Azure and Microsoft 365, it’s been much easier to manage cloud security from a single platform rather than switching between multiple security tools. I also appreciate the continuous monitoring and security alerts, which help us spot misconfigurations and potential threats early, before they turn into bigger issues. and support for microsoft is also good if we face an issues Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Defender for Cloud?

When it comes to Microsoft Defender for Cloud, I don’t really see any specific downsides. That said, it can sometimes feel expensive for small and medium-sized businesses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Microsoft Defender for Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?

The biggest benefit for us is being able to proactively address security risks before they turn into serious incidents. The centralized dashboard provides clear, at-a-glance visibility into the overall health of our cloud environment, which makes it much easier to prioritize what matters most and resolve issues efficiently. "Native to the Microsoft Ecosystem, Easy to Configure and Deploy"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Microsoft Defender for Cloud?

What I like about Defender for Cloud is it is native to Microsoft Eco-System. If you are already familiar with Azure Environments, It is very easy to configure and deploy. So, you don't have to go through another security system and learning period. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Defender for Cloud?

I think it is the user dashboard. I think it can be improved a lot. for example it is very hard to find the onboarding/ subscription settings. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Microsoft Defender for Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?

In our azure environment, there are many virtual machines, file shares, storage accounts, etc. So we can protect them easily without any problem. we use both CSPM and workload protection. So they would help us to stay in compliance and protected. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Secure Score Cuts Alert Fatigue with a Clear, Intuitive Multi-Cloud Dashboard"

4/5

What do you like best about Microsoft Defender for Cloud?

The best aspect of Microsoft Defender for Cloud is how effectively it reduces alert fatigue through its Secure Score framework. Rather than dumping thousands of unprioritized vulnerabilities on infrastructure teams, it translates overall security posture into a clear, percentage-based metric. It also makes it obvious which remediations will deliver the highest security ROI, which has significantly improved our engineering workflow.

On top of that, its multi-cloud integration really does provide a “single pane of glass.” The agentless connectors for AWS and GCP help normalize security insights and compliance tracking (such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001) across different environments, bringing everything into a centralized, highly intuitive UI without requiring complex or clunky configuration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Defender for Cloud?

The main drawback is the complexity of the pricing. While the foundational posture management delivers strong value, turning on advanced Cloud Workload Protection Plans (CWPP) for containers or databases scales costs on a per-resource basis. In large-scale environments, this can lead to significant budget unpredictability. Moving to a more predictable, flat-rate tiering model would materially improve overall Pricing/ROI.

On Integrations and UI/UX, multi-cloud visibility has improved, but automated remediation workflows still heavily favor native Azure resources. Achieving the same level of quick-fix remediation in AWS or GCP often feels less intuitive and tends to require additional configuration. Bringing full feature and workflow parity to non-Azure clouds would make the multi-cloud experience feel truly seamless. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Microsoft Defender for Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before implementing Microsoft Defender for Cloud, we struggled with fragmented visibility across our multi-cloud infrastructure and constant alert fatigue, which often delayed critical security patching.

Since deploying the platform, we can monitor and assess our overall security posture across Azure, AWS, and GCP from a single, centralized dashboard. As a result, our engineering team spends far less time triaging vulnerabilities, and we’ve effectively cut our average time to remediate in half.

The biggest practical benefit is that we’re no longer burning expensive engineering hours chasing low-priority alerts. Instead, the clear UI and the prioritized Secure Score give us an immediate view of the highest-impact risks, which has significantly improved our day-to-day operational efficiency and helped us get more value from our security investment.
