The absolute best part is how quickly you can spin up a functional relational database without needing a team of backend developers. For local data management, the wizard-driven Query Design tool and the built-in Form builder are fantastic. It allows me to create custom, user-friendly data entry interfaces for my team, preventing the human errors and messy data corruption that constantly happen when people try to use Excel as a database. The user interface looks and feels like software from fifteen years ago; it is desperately crying out for a modern redesign. Performance also degrades quickly once the database file size grows, and the lack of native, seamless web or cloud integration is a massive pain point. If you want to share an Access database across a remote team today, you have to jump through hoops with SharePoint or virtual desktops, which feels incredibly outdated. Even without deep technical knowledge, I was able to create tables and simple databases quickly. The interface feels familiar, especially if you have used other Microsoft Office tools before. Another strong point is the Ease of Implementation, because setting up a working database does not take much time. I was able to start small and then expand my project step by step. The Frequency of Use is also high for me since I use it regularly for organizing data and simple reporting tasks. It is very practical for daily operations. I also appreciate the Number of Features it offers, such as forms, queries, and reports, which help automate tasks. These features are useful without being too complicated. The Ease of Integration with other Microsoft products like Excel is a big advantage. I can easily import and export data without problems. This saves time and reduces manual work. Additionally, the Customer Support from Microsoft and the availability of online resources make it easier to solve issues when they come up. What problems is Microsoft Access solving and how is that benefiting you? icrosoft Access helps me solve the problem of organizing and managing data in a simple way. Before using it, I was keeping most of my data in Excel files, and it was getting hard to control and track everything. With Access, I can store large amounts of information in a more structured format. This makes it easier to find, update, and manage data. One of the main benefits for me is that it reduces manual work. I created forms to enter data quickly, which improved my Ease of Use during daily tasks. It also helped me avoid errors because the system controls how data is entered. The Ease of Implementation allowed me to set everything up without needing advanced technical skills. Another problem it solves is reporting. I can create queries and reports to analyze data, which saves a lot of time. This increased my Frequency of Use since I rely on it regularly for tracking and decision-making. The Number of Features like automation and filtering also helps me work more efficiently. It also works well with Excel, so the Ease of Integration makes data sharing very simple. I can move data between programs without any issues. Recent updates have made Access friendlier for hybrid setups. The improved Linked Table Manager is a standout because it lets us filter, relink, and repair multiple ODBC links in one pass, which cuts downtime when connection strings or server names change. The Dataverse connector has been useful for teams dabbling in Power Platform. Being able to publish tables to Dataverse or link to them lets us prototype forms and reports in Access while exposing the same data to Power Apps and Power Automate. Modern charts are a nice upgrade over the legacy graph objects. The cleaner visuals and easier formatting make quick dashboards inside a front end feel less dated. Support for the Large Number type and better handling of SQL Server data types like DateTime2 reduce the odd conversion issues we used to see when mixing Access with backend SQL. Small quality-of-life tweaks help too, like property sheet search, tabbed document interface improvements, and dark theme options that keep long sessions comfortable. What do you dislike about Microsoft Access? Access would benefit from stronger multi-user concurrency on shared backends. Front ends still lock up or throw record conflicts under moderate load, especially over VPNs or high latency links. A more resilient caching layer and clearer conflict resolution would help. Version control remains clunky. Storing forms, reports, and macros as text for Git is possible but awkward. Native export and import to a text-friendly format, plus a diff viewer for objects, would make team development far easier. Deployment is fragile. Packaging and updating compiled ACCDE front ends across desktops needs a first-class updater with checksum validation and rollback, not just custom scripts. Broken references after Office updates are still too common. Modernization of the UI stack would help adoption. More responsive form controls, better HiDPI handling, and consistent dark theme support in designers would make apps look current without heavy custom code. VBA is powerful but isolated. Tighter integration with Power Platform, modern authentication libraries, and official support for async HTTP calls would reduce custom wrappers and improve reliability for API work. Connectivity is uneven. ODBC linking to cloud databases and Dataverse works, yet type mappings and pagination quirks cause surprises. Better drivers, clearer guidance on data types like DateTime2 and decimal precision, and more stable long-running connections would reduce maintenance. Security and governance could be simpler. Easier ways to apply Sensitivity labels to linked data, a template for least privilege patterns, and audit-friendly logs for data changes originating in Access would help regulated teams. First thing it is not necessary to have programming knowledge to create a database that tracks employee data, benefits and training records. The implementation process is streamlined by user-friendly wizards and drag-and-drop interface. This enables me to rapidly deploy a system with depending on IT for intricate coding. Furthermore it is very easy to integrate access witg other microsoft products like Excel for payroll data. Access provide a simple and effective solution that I can access and adjust as needed for daily and frequent routine HR tasks. What do you dislike about Microsoft Access? A growing company like our's find that the size of the Access database becomes problemactics. Performance can be slowed down by large datasets and high number of concurrent users is not recommend for the system. I find that microsoft Access helps me with a lot of HR related problems , spreadsheet used for manual employee data tracking are prone to errors and ineffective . I can build a centralized database with Access that contains employee information , benefits details and training records. This minimizes errors and save me time by streamlining data entry and retrievals. I can quickly create reprots to monitors patterns, examine leave requests and pinpoint areas in need for training. MS Access works great while processing a small number of transactions, however for our solution, we needed multiple installations on user workstations that were synced with our SQL server in batches.It cannot support huge tables without performance lag. Before MS Access came into picture our team used to rely on traditional databases like SQL, Oracle DB and Microsoft SQL DN etc even for small sets of data resulting in more costs.
