It is easy to use for daily database work, and it works well with Excel, which is used daily. Performance wise, it is okay for daily and small business works. What do you dislike about Microsoft Access? It is not useful when you have large number of users to collaborate with it becomes slow and the UI is not that great. MS Access allows you to create places to store data in an easily retrievable fashion, allowing multiple users and form views for display and data entry, reporting, and data analysis. Easily mitigable to SQL Server, as you continue to grow. I've turned many an Access database into a front-end for SQL Server. The Application looks and behaves like the other Office products, making it's introduction to new users fairly simple and straight forward. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Microsoft Access? It is unfortunate the Microsoft has chosen to leave the programing language behind with VBA, and not update to VB.NET. Natively, it does not handle more than a few simultaneous users, and though it says databases up to 2GB in size, it becomes hard to use any table over 200K records. In both of these situations, I moved my data to SQL Server, and then reconnected through Linked Tables, turning it into a front-end application. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Access: Familiarity with database structures and usage, especially SQL Server will help. What problems is Microsoft Access solving and how is that benefiting you? This is a much better way to manage data entry over Excel sheets or similar applications. More field control, more user control, and also makes further use of the data far simpler and organized. I find the front-end application scenario very compelling, for a quick and simple way to give users who already have Office installed, to get a functional application within a short period of time, no need to reinvent the wheel. I recently started to use the service to keep track of a recent database that I want to isolate out of my other work environments and it really is intuitive and works well considering how long it has been around. I would take the basic CRM functions and integrate it with Word, Publisher, and Excel and create letters, marketing, presentations with Powerpoint and feeding the information to Excel for accounting or spreadsheet functions. This is a very stable solution from Microsoft that we use to collect various information, such as device lists and employee records. Access provides many ready-made database templates, so even a new user can work with this product without assistance.
