**What do you like best about Mercury?**

Mercury provides a clean and modern interface for managing U.S. startup finances. The onboarding process is straightforward, and the product integrates well with many tools that early-stage companies use.

**What do you dislike about Mercury?**

Mercury may not be a good fit for founders who do any meaningful work internationally. My account was closed despite the company being a legitimate U.S. LLC with an EIN and a U.S. mailing address. The only unusual factor appeared to be that part of my work involves one international business address.
The closure happened quickly and without any opportunity to resolve the issue. For founders building global companies, that kind of uncertainty without opportunity for manual review makes financial planning extremely difficult.
Many startups today operate with distributed teams or founders who spend time abroad. Based on my experience, founders with any international operations should review Mercury’s policies carefully before relying on it as their primary banking platform.

**What problems is Mercury solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For founders operating primarily in the United States, Mercury simplifies tasks like opening a business account, managing payments, and connecting financial tools without needing to visit a bank branch. The platform is clearly designed with startups in mind, and the user experience is much easier than traditional banking portals.

**What do you like best about Mercury?**

I appreciate using Mercury as our main bank account for more than three years because it has been a blessing from day one. I love the simplicity and ease of use, especially being able to do anything from the app. The invoicing part of the platform is something we love, as it not only allows us to send invoices but also manage them, which is incredibly convenient. I can send an invoice quickly, in less than two minutes, and the process is even faster if the company also uses Mercury, making the ecosystem grow together. The initial setup was very easy, taking us less than 24 hours, which was impressive. I use Mercury daily for purchases and payments from Stripe, and for a small team of four people, it suits our needs perfectly.

**What do you dislike about Mercury?**

Sometimes the validation process is a little manual, so it would be nice to speed up the process.

**What problems is Mercury solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Mercury simple and easy to use, allowing me to manage everything from the app. Their invoicing feature lets me not only send invoices but manage them efficiently. It takes less than 2 minutes to send an invoice, especially fast within the Mercury ecosystem.

I appreciate Mercury for its low cost, which helps manage expenses efficiently for our main business bank account. The modern features of Mercury align well with our need for up-to-date technology, ensuring seamless banking experiences every time. I really value the continuous improvement of the platform, which consistently introduces enhancements that make these banking activities even more efficient. Mercury's process is very straightforward, and I found the initial setup to be really simple, without unnecessary complications. I dislike that Mercury charges fees for payments in other currencies. While I understand this is standard practice for banks, I was hoping Mercury could differentiate itself by not imposing these charges.

**What do you like best about Mercury?**

I truly appreciate Mercury for being the most efficient bank I've ever experienced. The user-friendly and intuitive web platform makes everything so easy to navigate, even for someone who isn't a tech genius. Their customer service is outstanding, always available to assist you almost constantly, especially when issues arise with credit card charges. They provide comprehensive support throughout and ensure follow-ups, which makes for an amazing client experience. The initial setup for Mercury was surprisingly straightforward and effortless, resembling a walk in the park, underscoring how intuitive the entire system is without any hiccups. I’m so impressed that I wish I could rate it as a 20 on a scale from 1 to 10, but have to settle for a 10, which shows how much I am enthusiastic about recommending Mercury to others.

**What do you dislike about Mercury?**

I find the process of sending receipts to the Mercury system for accounting a bit problematic. The system struggles to easily open and read attached files, making it challenging to allocate the file to the expense. Especially if it is not in USD. This aspect could certainly be improved for a smoother experience.

I really value Mercury's ability to easily handle my LLC banking needs, particularly for my software development. It's incredibly straightforward to send invoices and obtain custom links for regular payments via credit cards, which is a convenience I truly appreciate. I find Mercury's auto routing feature particularly beneficial because it allows me to manage funds within bank accounts seamlessly, setting aside money for specific goals like taxes. This functionality makes financial planning much easier for me. Additionally, I love that I can create as many digital cards as I need, which I utilize for managing and capping subscription payments effectively. This ability to cap subscriptions and prevent overspending is highly convenient, as I can swiftly establish new digital cards from my checking account with specific limits. Overall, these features collectively simplify my financial tasks and enhance my control over business expenses, which was more challenging with my personal Chase account. The transition to Mercury was significantly more efficient and straightforward, highlighting how user-friendly and adaptable the platform is for my business needs.

**What do you dislike about Mercury?**

I would love a full-blown accounting system integrated within Mercury that works more seamlessly with QuickBooks or connects directly with TurboTax. Currently, I have to upgrade my QuickBooks account, which is not ideal. Having a robust accounting feature or better integration would eliminate the need for using QuickBooks separately, as all my business expenses are through Mercury. This would be ideal since I prefer not to use QuickBooks.

I use Mercury for LLC banking and software work, making it easy to send invoices and manage payments. It automates fund routing for goals and simplifies digital card creation, streamlining subscription management and separating business expenses, which was challenging with my personal bank account.

Their staff need retraining.  A simple business address update request turned into a stream of emails back and forth to no avail.  I was told for "compliance" reasons my business address couldn't be updated.   A brick and mortar bank statement and utility bill were provided and they were ignored.

No problems were resolved resulting in a decision to close the account.

**What do you like best about Mercury?**

I like a few things. One of them is that is not necessary to deploy all of your components. Only the ones you like, monitoring reporting etc. the next big thing I like is the simplicity of integration processes. You have a big flexibility and I like it.

I think that performance could be better though in corporate environments. In comparison with alternatives choices, I feel that mercury ecosystem is smaller compare to competitors.

Mercury solves human errors with end to end automatic workflows. This also benefits faster delivery. Also with dashboards logs and analytics but provides, resolves the problem of visibility.

The ability to create a new card within minutes and to be able to freeze it and control the spending is really beneficial. I also appreciate their mobile app. Additionally, setting up Mercury was super easy.

The widgets of their mobile app sometimes just stop working, especially when switching company accounts.

I like the Mercury interface and services like the IO card. I also appreciate the automatic accounting classification and integration with QuickBooks. Although the initial setup for the company is a bit more complicated, everything is quite intuitive. The seriousness of Mercury, which resembles a traditional bank, gives me greater confidence.

**What do you dislike about Mercury?**

I don't like that the sending and receiving times for wire or ACH transfers take about 1 day and have to be on business days, which doesn't work on weekends unlike other services that are immediate.

It's extremely easy to use and they are constantly adding features that are great for small businesses like mine (like invoicing and receipt tracking). Importantly, these features are free or at least the free tier is good enough for my needs. The interface is really pleasant and modern.

**What do you dislike about Mercury?**

A while back, I had trouble using the Transactions section to find just my income, but checking just now, it looks like I'm able to do that successfully.

**What problems is Mercury solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm a little nerdy and a sole proprietor, and I have plans to build out my own simple, free AP/AR and finance portal using Microsoft 365 products. I will be able to completely replace my existing finance/business product since you have features such as your API and receipt tracking.

I like that international payments are easy with Mercury. It was simple to order debit and credit cards, and I appreciate how it integrates with Xero. The user interface is really easy, clear, and quick, which allows me to do everything I need, like getting bank letters and requesting payments. The initial setup was very easy.

I don't like that the total balance is for all your accounts. I would prefer to show the balance available as only being the main transactional account.

Overall, Mercury is a helpful banking software. The only downside I experienced was that I did not receive a physical card.

There is particularly not any such dislikes. Its one of the best platform I have used.

Start-up companies can conveniently open an account in Mercury to address banking needs, in terms of receiving payments, making payments, invoices automations etc. Its making banking easily accessible.

Really easy to use and super easy to manage users. This banking app was made for startups!

Their invoicing functionality is just okay. I haven't used the paid version so that might be a lot better than the free version.

They are making the banking experience enjoyable. With legacy banks, it's painful to add and remove users and the permissions are difficult to manage. Mercury takes the pain out.

**What do you like best about Mercury?**

I liked that the account can be opened online without needing to go anywhere. Technical issues are resolved within the day.

**What do you dislike about Mercury?**

For some reason, not all payments go through. This can be quite inconvenient because transactions take four days to process. You notify your partner that the payment was sent, but then it gets returned, and I have to use another bank to complete the transfer. This delays payments. When I reach out to customer support to ask why a transaction didn't go through, they say it's because the recipient bank isn’t responding. This seems odd, as my partner confirms there are no restrictions on their end for receiving payments.

There is also a button to join the loyalty program. I sent a request, but no one responded.

We use the account to receive payments from Stripe, and it works very smoothly. The integration was easy.

Mercury caters to startups and small business.  The interface is great, alllows for easy tagging of purchases to ease separation/filtering for tax purposes, and the support team (who I have only had to contact once in 2 years is responsive and very friendly.  Additionally, the ability to create virtual cards on the fly and set spending limits for them is great for tracking employee spending.

**What do you dislike about Mercury?**

For long term use cards, it would be nice to request additional in business name only.  That would allow for generalization between employees and be easier than having to use NFC for some usage.

The service simply is a one-stop shop for all needs, though easily integrates with a ton of 3rd party applications.

Absolutely terrible experience with Mercury. Initially they opened an account to us without any problem. But in a half year they sent an email to us that they plan to block (close) our account because of some new compliance. They gave us 2 (!) weeks to sort the things out - can you imagine? Communication was absolutely terrible. Support team published one rules, PR team the other one, and the CEO said third things. Also the CEO said they don’t care about 1% of customers who were affected by new “compliance”. After that, the support team simply didn’t answer all our requests.  

Later they extended the closing period to one month. In this time we provided all requested documents which fully confirm by all rules (also mentioned on the site) to unblock our account. But they refused to do so and related to some “internal factors”. On the all asks to provide more details they answered with “chatgpt generated boolshit” and basically ignored all our requests. 

So my advice if you don’t want to lose your money stay away from this platform. They absolutely don’t care about customers and they don’t care about you personally, and your employees. They are not transparent in communication and they are not aligned inside a company. Yes, the interface is good but all other departments (support, CEO, compliance, etc) work really terribly. Do you really want trust money to such an organization? Think one hundred times.

Mercury has a very user-friendly interface. It’s easy to make payments, and everything feels intuitive.

**What do you dislike about Mercury?**

We were generally satisfied with the bank until it became clear that Mercury is quite unreliable.

Our company, a Delaware C Corp, worked with Mercury for almost two years without any issues on our end. We have numerous clients in the US and Europe, as well as contractors, so we constantly received and made payments. The founders are residents of the US, UK, and Georgia.

At one point, the bank requested proof of residency for our US-based founder. The very next day, without waiting for the ID upload, we were suddenly notified that our account would be closed, with no possibility to appeal. In one day, our account, which handled all our payments, invoices, and contractor fees, was abruptly shut down without explanation.

Mercury also has other downsides, like slow support with responses taking 2-3 business days, which is unacceptable for a modern bank, as most offer live chat with an agent.

But the biggest drawback is the bank’s unreliability. Even as an established business with a solid record, founders in the US, and reputable clients, your account can be closed without warning or reason.

As a founder, I can’t recommend Mercury. I’d suggest Brex or Chase, which have proven to be more reliable.

While Mercury aims to simplify online banking for startups, their approach has serious drawbacks. The biggest issue is the lack of reliability — they closed our account without prior notice or a clear reason, disrupting our entire payment flow with clients and contractors. Additionally, customer support is slow, taking days to respond to urgent issues. Instead of solving problems, these issues have caused significant disruptions and challenges for our business.

For us, Mercury was the obvious choice after incorporating via Stripe Atlas and having an internationally based co-founder with non-US citizenship. The KYC onboarding was virtually without headaches, just make sure your non-US co-founder has a passport as this will hold up the process

**What do you dislike about Mercury?**

During the initial onboarding, I discovered a bug in the process/interface that occurs only once per user. When I tried to report the issue, they requested a screen recording, which was impossible to provide since the bug can only be replicated a single time during onboarding. Because they didn't understand that a video recording wasn't possible, the bug report wasn't taken seriously.

**What problems is Mercury solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mercury Bank has been a fantastic choice for our startup. The lack of monthly fees and minimum balances has made it incredibly cost-effective, especially in the early stages with low capital. I love the seamless online banking experience, complete with virtual debit cards, integrated payment processing, and automated accounting tools. Plus, having access to a network of investors and resources I believe will be invaluable for scaling our business. The user-friendly interface has made banking and financial management so much easier for me as an entrepreneur. However the mobile app has a long way to go IMHO before It's on par with the web based experience.

I love the panarama view of all my accounts. As an entreprenuer, I have many busineses and now it is easy to just see all my accounts in 1 view. It was pretty easy to setup each account. I integrated my mercury accounts with my other payment processor account. I use mercury every month and that says a lot.

I wish that the credit card is an actual credit card and not a charge card with fewer requirements.

- Fast, free transfers that are easy to set up

- Easier access to treasury/interest-bearing options would mean I would put in a meaningful balance versus using it in a more limited capacity.
- No cashback on its debit cards seems a bit underwhelming when it comes to larger transactions and holding an effectively frozen $25k deposit doesn't seem ideal as an alternative.

Mecury offers non-US business owners an easy route to opening a US Business Bank account. Their app and site are easy to use, fees are very competitive and they provide great support when you need help. Highly recommended.

Not found any yet, maybe delays in getting the cards shipped internationally? That took longer than I expected but they have virtual cards you can use straightaway so it wasn't really an issue.

Mercury has built a nice set of things to support startup over the year - from their Raise program that selects startups for help with fundraising, to getting paid by sending invoices from Mercury.  I started using them when we raised our round for Checking and Azlo closed. I am glad I chose them.

It was relatively easy to get set up and started.

**What do you dislike about Mercury?**

1. Poorly thought out transition to new payment provider. They canceled physical debit cards prior to distributing new ones, canceled virtual cards and replaced the numbers, forcing us to change payment setup with every vendor. 

2. Virtually no customer support. We have an international wire that was sent nearly two weeks ago to us. Our client had it traced and it has been received by Mercury. Emails from customer support indicate that there is an issue, they hope that our funds will be deposited eventually, someday. 

They have become completely unreliable as a way to receive funds from clients and pay vendors - kind of what a bank is expected to do...

Update: they provided me with a provisional credit while the issues with inbound wire transfers get sorted out. I still have serious concerns about their reliability, so I can't recommend them, but it is only fair to acknowledge their efforts to deal with their wire transfer issue.

**What problems is Mercury solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To be honest, Mercury is causing more problems than it is solving. After Mercury issued new debit card numbers, I still have at least 30 vendors left that I need to update payment info for, but it doesn't really matter because I can't get access to wire payments from my clients and I can't talk to anyone to find out what the issue is, so I can't pay the vendors anyway.

The user interface is really nice and intuitive. It is refershing to have a financial product that is easy to use and is FDIC compliant to ensure that there are no issues with the funds due to bank failures.

**What do you dislike about Mercury?**

The only downside of using mercury is that they do not integrate with large banks like Bank of America or JP Morgan or any of the US Top 10 banks. It might lead to the board asking a lot of questions around why the platform is chosen even after collapse of large banks like SVB. It does help to have a higher than average FDIC limit.

**What problems is Mercury solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem mercury is solving is that of banking. We use mercury to receive funds to a dedicated AR account and have those balances auto-transferred to another internal bank account which is not exposed to external vendors/suppliers etc making our banking infrastructure more resiliant and robust.
