What do you like best?

The price. Of all the MDM solutions out there, Meraki SM is by far the cheapest and if you have existing Meraki Networks its a great way to get off the ground with MacOS systems management. The Lock and Wipe features work very well, as do the network uptime and monitoring pieces. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Application installs and upgrades are a crapshoot whether you are utilizing VPP or doing direct package installations. While profiles install pretty quickly and easily, app installations do not and often end up taking a considerable amount of manual intervention. They include a pretty nice reverse SSH tunnel implementation for doing remote desktop machines but this too is highly unreliable and I have already replaced that piece with another solution. The licensing model, while affordable, follows the typical Cisco 1-5 year subscription plan and is not that desirable for MDM. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

In particular, the MDM portion of Meraki Systems Manager is a powerful management tool, with an intuitive interface that lets you control devices without a cumbersome menu structure like those found in other MDMs (AirWatch, Jamf). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

We have yet to come across any specific issues with Meraki's SM MDM. Occasionally, provisioning will take a little longer than expected, but that's likely due to end-devices' connectivity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Cisco likely still offers the 100-device trial of their Systems Manager, so I suggest you try it and compare it with your existing MDM. You'll see how much faster it is to accomplish certain functions. After working with Jamf and AirWatch, it's just as powerful, but working within the system is more intuitive and device provisioning is very fast. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We needed to manage various devices throughout the business, as too many issues were occurring (mostly from users making changes to devices in their stand-alone/unmanaged state). With Meraki's SM MDM, we are now able to effortlessly provision in-house applications within seconds, restrict usage to specified networks, and spend less time troubleshooting user-caused device issues. Overall, it has significantly improved productivity for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Overall, Meraki Systems Manager has been easy to use. Compared to other options we were using or evaluated when looking for a new solution, Meraki was clearly the easiest. We also have other infrastructure from Meraki and it integrates well with Systems Manager. It's all managed from a single website. Most of the features we've tried to use just work. The support has typically been pretty good as well.

There is also a no touch required remote desktop feature that is great. It's also very easy to send command prompts to one or many devices.

The hardware and software inventory features are pretty robust and have been very helpful.

It's easy to push and manage apps for end users as needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I think there are some features that are lacking or not fully baked. Especially when it comes to Windows systems, there are some things that would be nice to control or manage that just aren't there yet. We also have a handful of devices that show as non-compliant for seemingly no reason, but this is relatively few and far between. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

This has been a great way to supplement the way that we monitor software and hardware inventory. It is also helping us maintain a good baseline of security compliance on all of our laptops and mobile phones. We have also started integrating a handful of Macs into our environment. We didn't have any management solution for those before and it didn't always play well with other solutions we had in place. Now that works very well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Meraki has a very clean user interface and lots of options. Luckily most of these options are nested in a clear and logical style making navigation quick and easy. Checking on individual devices is straightforward and the options for each one are well laid out. Swapping between profiles or adjusting restrictions is super easy and can be rolled out in seconds. As you would hope making adjustments is quicker and easier through the web interface than having the device in front of you.

Enrolling new devices is very straightforward and there are lots of different options. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

We mainly use Meraki for around 90 iOS devices and that is the only area tat I find annoying. Apple still has a very weak story around device deployment and this shows in all sorts of places. We also use Airwatch and others at a corporate level and all seem to exhibit the same degree of erratic behavior. Devices seem to drift out of profile and many of our devices have slightly different load outs on them over time. This often necessitates re-profiling periodically. Again though, this seems to be an iOS 'feature' that doesn't occur on android or other devices. Sadly our users love their iPads and iPhones so we just have to hope that one day apple take this sort of stuff moe seriously. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Huge improvements in terms of app delivery to the correct people. Sending less on Apps as none are wasted through licencing. Finally it protects our devices and keeps everything working as well as possible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

The ability to control devices from afar, remote control, locating missing devices, retroactive malware protection are all wonderful features. The ability to apply group policies based on device membership is truly an amazing feature we take full advantage of on a daily basis. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Location tracking seems to be a bit off. Devices can sometimes appear to be several states away, making them hard to pinpoint when necessary. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Device location, deployment of apps to mobile devices has benefited us in that it allows us to work more efficiently without focusing on small details like that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Relatively easy to use after implementation. 'Single pane of glass' type interface. Rollout methodology was fairly painless (URL enrollment or remote package install). While our use-case is fairly basic, it tends to 'just work.' Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Feels a little old. Competitors have slicker and more intuitive interfaces. The mobile apps, for example, are almost useless. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Compare feature-sets from the other leading MDM solutions (there are a lot more now than when we implemented). Further, several other vendors have gotten much more competitive in pricing (even though we are grandfathered into the Meraki legacy pricing model). Basically, there is a lot more competition in this space and Meraki no longer wins the price/feature set battle. That being said, the feature-set works for our equipment setup (99% Mac + iOS) and we do not necessarily need to pay more for other systems' unnnecessary features. We contemplated a switch to VMWare AirWatch last year but the headache of the transition was enough to dissuade management. AirWatch offers much more fine tuned granual control over things like App whitelisting and URL restrictions etc. which would be nice, but are not necessarily mission critical. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

ON premises and remote device management, security enforcement, geofencing and remote analytics. We can route particular devices to specific VLANS and VPN groups, as well as manage client level access/software/permissions on a fairly granular level. Basic things like password rotations, app whitelisting, etc is a breeze Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

The entire interface is so easy to use and intuitive. Setup time is very minimal on most devices and software. Adding endpoints is 3 clicks and done. The APs auto update and auto mesh. Traffic analysis and network policies add to the feature list out of the box. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

There is a limited number of Meraki branded APs, but all are very high quality and there one for most needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Sometimes you can get a free AP for attending a webinar, do that and you can get familiar with the Meraki interface and give it a great, real use test. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Secure wifi and management of BYOD and company-owned devices. We have visitors able to log into to the network, but it is all throttled and secured due to Meraki. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

I really like the consolidated management of all of out Meraki devices. It makes it easy to manage our devices, see what is going on with them, if there is any issues. Can troubleshoot remotely. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

probably the most would be the pricing of the devices and software. For us being a not for profit, they can be a bit pricy and that when you have multiple devices it aggregates the time, so if you buy one with 5 year license and a year later buy another with a 5 year license my understanding is that those end dates would start to blend. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Set up and administration of the Meraki Systems Manager was easy, techs helped with any questions. Maintenance is done on a schedule that you can modify to suit your company needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have multiple remote sites that we wanted to not only connect but be able to manage all of the devices as well. prior to this, we had remote sites and there was little or no management capability of those devices. Now we are able to connect all of our remote sites, manage the devices remotely, get alarm notifications, see who was accessing the internet, etc and what sites. This helped our small IT shop manage the sites and help the staff at sites access needed files from our network and store files there for backup and disaster recoverly. Our company used a small MDM provider for years that met our needs when we had a few hundred clients. Meraki gave us the functionality we needed and actually saved us money at the same time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

What I like best with the Meraki Systems Manager. Is the easy setup and configuration of the the software. The cloud base setup of the system, also the side by side access with the rest of meraki devices. The software allows control of any phone and device that you can install the client onto. You can track where the device is and can remote wipe unlock or lock if the device is lost. Updates can be applied. You can send cmd commands and remote into the device (windows base). Take screen shots of the device's desktop. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

What I dislike about the Meraki Systems Manager is the tracking of the device. This is not very accurate. And is even worse if the the device's GPS is turned off. Since the Laptop tracking comes from the ISP provider. this will cause it to be impossible to track a computer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Not much to recommend to about the product. It's easy to setup and implement. Easy to maintain. Pricing seems to be decent. It is priced per device. So depending on how many devices. It could get pricey. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The business problems we solve with the Meraki Systems Manager is Device tracking and monitoring, also support of the device. This lets us know who has the device where it is and access the device if the user needs help. We can also get detailed reports of the devices that are connected to the Meraki Systems Manager. What do you like best?

This is a nicely designed portal to manage Meraki products. There are a lot of configuration options here, making the platform very flexible in a small business environment. The portal works as expected 100 percent of the time. A good test of whether an interface is put together well is if you can hand someone the keys and they get off and running right away, and we can attest to that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

There is a bit of a learning curve to get the lay of the land. It's not that the menus are poorly arranged, but you should familiarize yourself with where all the settings are to avoid frustration later. A complete redesign of the site a while back was somewhat disruptive, but changes like that are not uncommon in our line of work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

We have tested the wireless management features of this platform, and can recommend them even though we do not have them in production. We really only use the MDM module, which has pretty much everything we need in a free product. We have explored other MDM solutions, but at least for us, it didn't make sense to invest money on the few features that Meraki lacks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We primarily use this system to manage MDM. We don't require the most advanced features in our environment, so this gets the job done with almost no investment. We are able to manage our mobile devices with very little overhead, and deploying new devices is a quick process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

MDM

We use this to solve a myriad of issues that are unsolvable without a device management software, including:

Finding the location of a lost device

Wiping the passcode off of a device of someone who left the company

Remotely wiping and rendering useless a stolen device

Identifying users in a Data group that are overusing data through the Data monitoring option

Updating all of your devices' software remotely instead of having to update every one in person

Identifying the owner of a phone through the dashboard is much easier than calling the phone

Meraki Network Manager

We have specific information regarding internet outages. Times being the most relevant

We have more visibility on our internet traffic, enabling us to block non work related sites that cause the most traffic

We get a notification the moment that a firewall goes down, enabling us to respond to the issue as soon as possible, and making our Support team more independent. Now we don't have to wait for one of the workers at the branch to let us know of an internet outage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
