"Recent MemSql Experience "

What do you like best?

The ease of installation and compatibility with all cloud providers is the best. Resilient components makes it easy for installing and maintaining as distributed components.DB replication feature is the best. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Instances are hard wired to memsql instance ids, It would be easier if we have option to add new one's and delete existing ones easily. The process of node joins and node decommission can made be simpler making all the cloud operations easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Found an alternate for realtime reporting that is currently using NOSQLDB. Currently, the NOSQLDB that is being used has real time data but it's not delete friendly and efficient. So memsql was our alternative option for reporting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Used it for a personal project "

What do you like best?

MemSQL durability is slightly different for its in-memory rowstore and an on-disk columnstor which makes it awesome and a cluster can be configured in "High Availability" mode. It is also one of the fastest databases for columnar storage and analytical workloads. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

A little maybe better documentation would be helpful , espically for beginners. Also to play around for smaller machines like raspbeery pi and some fun projects to start with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I personally used it only on a personal level. It is insanely fast and very configurable. It also has a strong company and community behind it so that is pretty cool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"MemSQL - MySQL companion"

What do you like best?

- Speed : Aggregate queries are very fast.

- Disk Compression: CS engine compresses data 60 to 80% on avg.

- Drop-in Solution : Low learning curve if you come from MySQL background

- Pipelines: Easiest and fastest way to ingest data . Automatically detect new data in S3 buckets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

- Lack of DB Performance monitoring: MemSQL should provide Percona PMM dashboard type of monitoring with explanation of the metrics being monitors and action to take. SolarWind for MySQL is also excellent at aggregating queries over time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you are doing aggregates, have large log type tables, or need real time analytics using a "mysql" friendly environment, you should look at MemSQL. It's a great product (Sr Mysql DBA for > 10 years).

MemSQL Support is excellent. They can help you optimize your queries and make sure your system is properly configured. The 2 days on-boarding Professional Service is also a nice add-on.

I would also recommend the training. Videos are available for download, perfect for going back to them and refresh your MemSQL knowledge. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

- Migrate heavy write log type table from Mysql to MemSQL

- Intensive geo location queries

- Real Time Analytics : Aggregates for our applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
