**What do you like best about Fonteva for Associations?**

So far it has proven to be a sturdy eCommerce and ERP/B2B add on. Does well with Membership tasks too. We have been able to customize it, either through Fonteva itself or through their Support Partner, fusionSPAN. 

Otherwise, having taken part of the AppCon'22 Conference at Crystal City, it looks like it has created its own Ecosystem, when it comes to Associations. 

Arguably, it now being part of Togetherwork, will make it an even more reliable product.

**What do you dislike about Fonteva for Associations?**

Hopefully most of these "sour grapes" will go away once we implement both Fonteva Payments AND Fonteva Platform 15.0. 

As said "sour grapes" come mostly from having to do extra work when handling credit notes and memos over multiple SO's. 

Yes, we were given a workaround, but no, one cannot use a workaround for too long as it hurts adoption.

**What problems is Fonteva for Associations solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Everything eCommerce on Salesforce, of course. It also shapes and manages our Stripe Payments. Spark Admin, we are now finally digging into the more advanced features, and how they can help us be more productive with some chores and features, such as Rollup Summaries (for Lookup Relationships)

**What do you like best about Fonteva for Associations?**

We're already establishing a good amount of useful history in the new system that we can draw on. We're a lot more self-sufficient with reporting whereas previously we had to rely on an outside source for reports.

**What do you dislike about Fonteva for Associations?**

So far, there has been no downside.  We just went live in September 2021 so we're still building the system to our requirements.  We're currently in phase 2. There could be some improvement in the training on creating reports.

**What problems is Fonteva for Associations solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fonteva for Associations is live so we are able to see current information on our members. With our old system we had to wait one to two business days before records would update.  We are also able to create up to date reports that helps with our customer service for our members as well as reporting correct data to our executives.

**What do you like best about Fonteva for Associations?**

They make it easy for membership organizations to tailor websites to their members without the cost of building a custom website from scratch. They give you options like role-based data access where certain members can only see certain content so there is great personalization.

**What do you dislike about Fonteva for Associations?**

There is limited customization with the user authentication process out of the box. I want our members to be able to access our community site easily. There is no option to log in with google or outlook.

Fonteva hosts our online member community. Our members have benefited from being able to select content preferences and view a searchable member directory.

Membership and Event App is excellent. We can customize it according to our needs. The configuration is easy for Salesforce Admin, and it is user-friendly for the staff and customers.

It will be nice to have more documentation in the community along with we should be able to search Fonteva documentation using more keywords.

**What problems is Fonteva for Associations solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use the membership and event app from Fonteva, and those are very useful, easy to configure. The buit in platform  is great so we can focus on customers more than the system.

**What do you like best about Fonteva for Associations?**

We have been using Fonteva for 3 years now and it has helped shaped the way we our moving forward with our multiple associations. Fonteva Membership has helped us manage our memberships, increasing our ability to monitor engagement with reporting. Also utilizing the Lightning Communities has given us the ability to create member portals, allowing our members to subscribe, renew and interact with other members. The platform and technology Fonteva provides has helped change our future and given us the ability to provide more to our staff and members. Also the support they provide along the way gives us the confidence to continue moving forward with no thoughts of slowing down.

**What do you dislike about Fonteva for Associations?**

So far all of the speedbumps we have it along the way have been overcome with the help of Fonteva and Salesforce! For users that have never used Salesforce there is a little bit of a learning curve but even to list that as a con is tough because of the training Fonteva has available!

We are now able to manage members across multiple associations, get better insights through reporting.

I most like that there are so many options to customize and adapt the platform to meet our needs. We had a lot of specific asks that Fonteva worked hard on meeting for us during implementation. Now we have the ground work to continue to build on as we grow as a company.

Our developer left half-way through our implementation, but our new developer and project manager where more than helpful in picking up where we left off.

**Recommendations to others considering Fonteva for Associations:**

Make sure to have all of your wants and needs laid out clearly before you start implementation. You need to have a priority list and a list of what would be nice to include if you have the time.

**What problems is Fonteva for Associations solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a small association, our biggest problem is trying to maximize everyone's time. Fonteva has already started helping us streamline our processes and save each team member from mundane tasks that can now be automated. The more we learn and expand in the system, I am confident we will continue to improve our day-to-day.

The fact that it's built on Salesforce CRM.

**What do you dislike about Fonteva for Associations?**

My original glowing review was done during training. We aced the training as admins, and felt at the time this was going to be a great system. This company relies on first impressions for their reviews and offers incentives for reviews which are fluff. Once implemented, however, the honeymoon is over. It takes a long time to implement, you must conform to their software sacrificing functionality that is out-of-the-box in other systems. They claim that the fees are predictable and that the upgrades and installation of the upgrades are free -- both of which are incorrect. The eCommerce system lacks the elements of standard eCommerce best practices. Basic functions such as membership renewals, event registrations, and setting up new subscriptions are labor intensive, tedious, and unreliable. There are some elements in terms of optimization which should be addressed. There are some objects which require switching back to Salesforce Classic, though most elements live inside of Lightning. 

Integrations which are normally easy in Salesforce are difficult due to Fonteva's own Custom Objects. They talk a good game, but, in the end, we ended up spending more than anticipated and getting less. Their business model has also changed to rely on 3rd-Party companies for configuration rather than their own team which changes frequently.

**Recommendations to others considering Fonteva for Associations:**

Make sure you are very specific in your RFP about what you need. Make sure that you understand what you get in terms of support and upgrades. Be prepared that your eCommerce experience and setup will be unlike any other system.

**What problems is Fonteva for Associations solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are striving to reduce the barriers to eCommerce for members to join or to purchase items. We are also striving for better UX for members to be able to access their benefits. Finally, we are seeking the easiest possible way to manage our members and non-member community.

I've been using Fonteva for about 5 months now. As a membership professional (non-IT person) I've found it fairly easy to pick-up. I love the ability to customize our join process (a luxury we've never had). The online training and customer support is always helpful as I try to learn new things. I'm enjoying all the features of the reports and dashboards to help better utilize our data. This is much better than our previous AMS! 

**What do you dislike about Fonteva for Associations?**

With any new software implementation, there is a learning curve. I look forward to continuing to learn how we can be more efficient and utilize all the features in Fonteva. 

**What problems is Fonteva for Associations solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are finally able to customize our join process which was previously coded by a developer. We are empowered to update and customize our own pages now. We also love the discount code function which is something we weren't able to do in our previous system.

Fonteva is built for association management. And, unlike many legacy AMS solutions, it is stable and reliable because it's not on built on propriety code but a world-class platform, Salesforce. This positions your organization to be future-forward. Even when we hit a hitch, the escalation chain always leads to improvement of the experience.

**What do you dislike about Fonteva for Associations?**

Support via tickets/cases - responses can be sluggish and require too many touch points to resolution. A phone call would be so much more efficient and better train me to self-serve over time.

**Recommendations to others considering Fonteva for Associations:**

Make sure you are willing to review your business processes because no one AMS will fit your current needs 100%. Fonteva has the capability to meet the most common association needs ansd some customization can get you even further along.

Anniversary vs. calendar year or 12-month only membership. Configurability out of the box for efficiency and maintaining a low-risk upgrade path.

Be sure to utilize Fonteva processes/options to limit customization time/expense - the base product features are really robust. Finance/accounting specifications should be well thought out and planned for during discovery & implementation for the smoothest launch.

Managing membership, events, bookstore sales, continuing education credit/transcripts, subscriptions. I appreciate the range of options for product & event set up that are possible without Fonteva staff support - it is a somewhat more complex system, but offers more out of box customization to us.

Being a Fonteva partner, our organization uses Fonteva for membership, events, and e-commerce. Really appreciate the efforts made by the developers of Fonteva for creating such an innovative Association App that reduces the efforts for creating and setting up the member portals & event management. The day is not far when Salesforce might acquire this solid product.

**What do you like best about Fonteva for Associations?**

The events module is very good and very robust.  I love that end users can transfer paid registration from one contact to another within their org.   

The end-user portal is okay and getting better.  

E-commerce is reliable.   Like that they use Spreedly as an intermediary so you can connect almost any gateway / merchant account to the shopping cart without customizations.  

**What do you dislike about Fonteva for Associations?**

Financial and accounting functionality is very bad.   They have THE most convoluted data model for invoices I have ever seen that makes everything more complex than it needs to be.   Here are the records related to one transaction:
Sales Order
    Sales Order lines
Invoice
    Invoice lines
Receipt
     Receipt lines
Transaction - 
     Transaction lines

As a result, anything but the simplest of transactions (say returning an overpayment to a customer, or transferring a payment from one invoice to another) involves convoluted series of non-intuitive steps that take easily 10 x longer than in our current CRM which was designed in 2011.  
Essentially, the accounting data model is fundamentally flawed.  Future enhancements can only put lipstick on this pig.  

There is no support to batching transactions for general ledger import
Everything is wide open, there are no data integrity controls out of the box, people can delete or modify posted transactions, you make changes to child objects that change the relationship to the parent, you can edit general ledger accounts after the fact.  
There is no integration for ERP systems
Lots of things that you expect to have a standard in a revenue sub-ledger system are not there.  
You can't run an Accounts Receivable report to show the balances as of a date in the past. 

Membership functionality is limited.  

Professional services for implementation are horrible.   The company is doing really well with its sales and is not expanding its implementation ability to keep up.   They have some good business analysts, but most of them are severely overstretched and unable to really pay attention.   Our project manager has 14 other open projects.   They make promises and consistently miss them.  Our eight-month implementation is actually taking about 20 months.   Some of that is due to us, but most of it can be tied to their poor delivery and dramatic over-promising in the sales cycle.  

**Recommendations to others considering Fonteva for Associations:**

Don't do it.   Don't use any salesforce-based AMS.    Salesforce looks really cool, and for many things it is great, but when it comes to association management tasks, it is convoluted and very expensive.  Once you are in, you will have to spend way more money than you anticipated to get the desired results.  It requires a ton of customization to handle even the most basic tasks that an AMS like iMIS mastered a decade ago.

The solution is built on Salesforce which means that I have a massively deep cloud toolset that is mature and stable that can get me around any issues I am likely to run into. In addition, the membership and events functionality is really solid and flexible.

Too many add-in options available on the appexchange, difficult to know which tools play best with Fonteva.

Ensure you get the right people to implement as it does need to be done right

Automation - automated emails for (eg) renewal notifications)
Automated renewals - set it and forget it with no staff intervention required.
Dashboards -  - great tool for making sense of all the data

It can be tough to navigate the reports because there is an overwhelming amount of options.

**What do you like best about Fonteva for Associations?**

This AMS is Salesforce based which means it is build on top of the most deployed AMS in the world. Both Salesforce and Fonteva work hard and there is no other AMS out there that can beat them which means you will have the stability and up to date technology at all time.  With Salesforce Marketplace, you have access to other third party apps that will fulfill the needs not covered by Fontev anad Salesforce. The risk of this AMS is bought or merged or not supported is very very low.

**What do you dislike about Fonteva for Associations?**

Upgrade is necessary in order to keep up with security and technology, but it is time consuming to implement. Customization is unavoidable even though we try to keep it at minimum. But all AMS will have these two issues any way

**Recommendations to others considering Fonteva for Associations:**

It is Salesforce based with its own Marketplace Exchanges, just like Apple iOS with its own App store. Top notch ecosystem that will flourish for years to come, all other AMS will eventually be pushed out this market, it is just a matter of time.

**What problems is Fonteva for Associations solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had an inhouse developed AMS, but there are just no more resources to keep updating it. So it is good for us to select and deploy  a COTS AMS solution. It will help us grow and focus on core business instead of technology.

Fonteva is a flexible AMS where the end users can customize the product to best serve their business needs.

**What do you dislike about Fonteva for Associations?**

We had a few issues with implementation but we have resolved most now (18 months in). I do not like some of the membership functionality for managing individual membership terms and subscriptions. However, we have found work-arounds for our issues to use this system that best serves our overall association.

**Recommendations to others considering Fonteva for Associations:**

It's a great product but it is imperative that you take the time to set it up correctly for your business operations. We rushed through the implementation and were not satisfied with the product at go-live. It has taken almost 18 months and a lot of angry customers to get us where we should have been in the beginning.

We are using Fonteva to manage 100k association members, donors, and corporate partners. We will soon transition in events. The largest benefit is having all parts of our association under one system instead of multiple systems.

we did approach for our loyalty program development on top of salesforce, but not implemented yet.

**What do you like best about Fonteva for Associations?**

Extends salesforce in ways that make sense for membership and event management. Almost meets all of our needs without much development.

Robust events builder and management. This is something which is absent from our current CRM. I'm not sure if we're going to use the events management but from an admin perspective it is mature enough to handle our attendance for our smaller events.

Great training and support staff!

Nothing to dislike. I do not have experience with other Salesforce implementations so I don't have comparisons.

**Recommendations to others considering Fonteva for Associations:**

Consider admin training a must. It was very comprehensive. As someone who had very little Salesforce experience to begin with I now feel very comfortable with Fonteva setup.

We are moving from an old, antiquated CRM with lots of customization to Fonteva. Because of all of our custom code it was difficult or impossible to upgrade. Fonteva handles the development here so we will not have to worry about it!

There are many robust capabilities on the horizon for us once our foundations within the database are strong. App integrations are much easier than with our previous database. Cloud basis means access is quick and easy from both the office, and a plane on the way to the conference.

**What do you dislike about Fonteva for Associations?**

Intense customization has been required in order to tailor the AMS to our needs, many of which we weren’t expecting. lots of these customizations were built in UAT and didn’t transfer to production successfully, causing delays and hiccups in our go-live. Reporting in Salesforce is always a challenge with their object limitations.

Be thorough and deliberate with your business users when evaluating nitty gritty needs to make sure that you’re not experiencing mismatch of expectations.

Corporate members across the globe, including hundreds of thousands of employees and hundreds of subsidiary companies, can easily and effectively leverage membership benefits. Our organization can synchronize more centrally and communicate effectively within the AMS. Email marketing tracking is easy on the contact level.

**What do you like best about Fonteva for Associations?**

We conducted an in-depth search and review to evaluate and select an Association Management Software (AMS) for our medium sized Association. There are a variety of reasons as to why we selected Fonteva, but to summarize here are our main reasons for selecting this product.

1. User Experience - The SF Lightning and Fonteva user experience for our end users is clean, simple, and easy to learn. The flexibility it offers is clear and concise to staff and will make their day to day work much more efficient. The system is highly configurable.

2. Community Groups - For a chapter based association like ours there will be many benefits to having this feature enabled. Chapters will have a variety of accessible features that our current AMS doesn't easily offer.

3. Integration - We use a wide variety of other software to run our organization. Salesforce and Fonteva's ability to connect with and integrate is simple and cost efficient.

I highly recommend this a solution for your Association.

My organization transitioned to this system a few years ago and we are loving it. Fonteva makes our Annual Conference and summit events easy to navigate. The system is intuitive and user-friendly and I love how everything speaks to each other. As a developer / technical consultant, when a customer is mentioning use cases involving "customer engagement" or "organize our member base" the first product that comes to mind is Fonteva Membership application (now called Fonteva for Associations?) This product easily saves me months of development for a product that I couldn't even compete with. Just like you don't want to build your own cloud based CRM product, why build your own customer engagement Salesforce functionality, when someone already did it cheaper, better, less buggy, and with a technical support team. Choosing Fonteva's software is often a no-brainer for my team and my customers.

**What do you dislike about Fonteva for Associations?**

Custom development on top of the Fonteva platform can add unnecessary complexity to the application. Can add more dev time to the project since you are building on top of other's codes, but in the long run the time you save is usually far more.

Flexibility and configurability are the two biggest reasons I love Fonteva’s system. Simplicity of set up and user- friendly interfaces are easy to learn and use right away.

Fonteva is build on the salesforce; therefore you get the same ease. In which Fonteva does a lot of the leg work. The Fonteva team has been really good to work with and the training has been very helpful in understanding what are the capabilities and limitations.

When working on certain apps you have to switch to lighting and classic versions which can be confusing when you have to what version to get the task down.

MemberNation (MN) has proven to be an excellent AMS. The product is customizable, which allows Admins to configure the system based on their origination's needs. MN has allowed us to streamline processes that were once done manually.

The Fonteva team worked diligently to help us reach our target go-live date. Our Business Analyst, Sundeep Pulaskar, was crucial to the project's success, as he used his expertise to understand our business processes and guide our internal team on configuring MN.

**What do you dislike about Fonteva for Associations?**

Salesforce does have limitations on editing their managed packages which limits the Admin on certain configurations. However, we have found a work around solution for each of these limitations.

Clean up data before uploading to MN. Draw out requirements before you begin the implementation.

MemberNation has solved so many of the problems that had plagued our organization for years. Issues with duplication, communication, and financial management were solved overnight in making the switch.

There really isn't anything we don't like about MemberNation. The entire Fonteva staff did such a good job with the implementation that even our least tech-savvy staff members are using it. We thought for sure that at least half of our staff would not use MemberNation, simply because SalesForce was so different from what we were previously using, this was not that case. 

**Recommendations to others considering Fonteva for Associations:**

MemberNation is the cutting edge for association management. We did not think t we needed something as powerful as MemberNation, however, after taking a look at it, we knew that we had to go with it. The implementation has been a breeze and the folks at Fonteva are great to work with. We thought at first that we were jumping into the deep end by making this switch, but after only a short while we realized that this was a long-needed change.

As I mentioned earlier, a big problem with duplicate contact records was solved by making the switch. We also have been able to tailor a great deal of email communication to our members with MemberNation, for the first time ever our database talks to our email server.

**What do you like best about Fonteva for Associations?**

The most impressive thing about the MemberNation Platform is that it does an exceptional job of thinking through the business cases you'll encounter as an Association, and then streamlining those processes for you. Once you've completed the initial configuration working with the Fonteva team (special thanks in our case to Dagmar and Sundeep for their work) everything just works. There's a good amount of flexibility in terms of being able to customize and adapt a lot of features right out of the box, which makes our lives so much easier!

They also have a great documentation center and training videos already created, which makes it easy for staff to get up to speed on the platform. 

**What do you dislike about Fonteva for Associations?**

There's really not much to dislike. The only thing that I'd recommend for folks, is to take advantage of the training they provide, and to make sure there is a member of your team truly taking responsibility for owning the project. As with anything, if there's no one from your team really invested in making sure the platform will be a success, it won't matter what software solution you use.

You can evaluate a ton of member management platforms, but at the end of the day, I think Fonteva is doing an excellent job of making a robust platform, that continues to improve, and is really taking key member management issues into consideration as they develop their user-friendly platforms.

There are several benefits for us in moving to Fonteva's product. From a member management perspective, we now have out of the box (and easy) auto renewal options, helping us to hopefully improve on what has historically been an aggressive churn rate on our membership base. 

It also has a ton of great features to help us enable our members to get access to our members only information easily, to manage their profiles, to purchase subscriptions and items in an easy store-like setup, and all in a platform that we can trust will work with our Salesforce setup without issue.

The user experience - our members are delighted! Vastly improved from our previous database. Members can easily login, renew their memberships, register for events, and more!

We had a couple of issues with Fonteva during implementation, namely we felt like they didn't grasp how BIG of an investment this was for us - we're a nonprofit state association and this was a big budget line item. We told them up front, and that we wanted to do everything we could to keep fees low and even handle a lot of the work ourselves. They didn't seem to get it - tried to charge us for the 2 hours it took to get our new account rep up to speed?! I'd advise extra vigilance if you have the same worries...

**Recommendations to others considering Fonteva for Associations:**

Built on Salesforce platform, which seems to be the CRM of the future - one that other companies are striving to interface with and develop to. We are confident that our investment will continue to pay off for a long time!

The user experience with our previous CRM was pretty abysmal and the service provider was NOT willing to work with us to fix it - tried to charge an arm and a leg! It made much more sense for us to make this investment with Salesforce/MemberNation/Fonteva. We're so excited to share the new UI with members - and happy that Salesforce is constantly under development/improvement so we can continue to delight members for years to come!

I designed the Streams Ministries web site, which uses every module Fonteva offers, and I am pleased to say that the experience was a great one.  I would encourage others to investigate how Fonteva’s Member Nation can benefit your organization.

MemberNation is exactly what our organization was looking for. Backed by the power of Salesforce, MemberNation allows us to customize our database to our specific needs. In addition, MemberNations beautiful, functional front-end pages give our members a easy and intuitive experience online.

The software is a bit more expensive than other AMS software. While the price is a bit of a stretch for our organization, the number of features that come with MemberNation and the benefit of having a customized AMS solution built on the Salesforce platform outweighs the costs.

With MemberNation, we're able to automate alot of our manual processes. Our front-end forms are now easier to use and more intuitive than with our previous database.
