System has more functions than anyone really realizes, also minimizing the need to call nurses or providers to obtain certain information about the patients. Very easy access to physician and nurses’ progress notes, enabling pharmacists to determine specific indications of drug treatments, leading to optimization of the treatments especially for per-pharmacy protocol treatments. Any necessary changes are also easily made in the system. For example, a message can be generated to the MD ordering a backordered drug, informing the MD to order an alternative drug or call pharmacy for recommendations. Its messaging system is very useful as well; the nurses and pharmacists can communicate through messages effectively, minimizing the call volume to the pharmacy and nursing units. The laboratory module feels like it was developed in sections independent of eachother and put together my a 7th grade computer class. To find a mother's blood type for a cord blood workup I have to click on 15 different things. Bringing in units is a pain as each one has to be brought in individually.
