I had a horrible experience using ProctorU for the same SJT test I took last year, which went smoothly. However this time, the individual proctor I encounter was very unprofessional and deliberately gave me a hard time. I could not understand her accent and politely asked her to repeat so I can understand her instruction.

The administrator said she can not see me despite my multiple adjustments and while my entire face was on camera. I have a desktop that does not let me zoom out to view my shoulder but I made every attempt to ensure my face was fully captured on camera and be compliant with the requirement.

First, this staff had me take video 3 times of my room and said a blank paper cannot be used - which I removed at her request and retook the video. Despite that I feel her requests were starting to become irrational and personal, I deferred to those ridiculous nitpicking acts, for the sake of the exam and tried to sit as tall as I can.

At the beginning of my exam, she interrupted twice by speaking and making red marks onscreen and demanded me to lower my camera that they can not see me. I did not even touch my camera, made sure to maintain my posture sitting tall, and my forehead to chin was on camera. Further, this staff even had another proctor who commanded me during the exam, to lower the camera, which has been in the same position during the test. She continued the condescending tone for about 2 mins, even after I quickly tried to sit straight to appear EVEN taller and higher-up in the view. I had to mute the entire computer in order to focus. The staff was extremely rude and took away my time, causing me unable to focus in the beginning. This is not even a test we can or need to cheat, it is a relatively easy judgemental test and not a factor or memorization test.

After my exam during the post-exam survey, I noticed the proctor re-connected the remote viewing as I was filling out an anonymous survey. This is a VIOLATION of privacy!

This proctoring experience is the worst I have ever experienced. If the company continues to allow its employees to act this way, it will negatively impact many test-takers. I recommend ProctorU to investigate and speak with these 2 individuals about their professionalism and remind them of the right approach and the goal of this job.

I think there are inherent privacy issues with live proctoring for online assessment. In most cases, I think it's much better to re-think how assessments are delivered. I took the GRE yesterday, and I was disappointed with the ProctorU service. I was not told I needed to download the LogMeIn application prior to my test session, as a result of which I had to spend time at the beginning of my session downloading and installing the application. Furthermore, I was not told I would need to enable certain settings for my proctor (like screen sharing and mouse control), which also took time. Overall, it was 30 minutes into my 1pm appointment before I could actually begin the test. Moreover, the proctor changed several settings on my computer, which I understand was to prevent cheating. However, I was NOT told which settings these were, AND they were not changed back to their original setting after I completed the test. Now, the day after the test, I have to figure out which settings were changed and fix them.

My first proctor was polite enough, but I did not get to actually speak to her until shortly before the test began. My second proctor (and, by the way, I was not told I would be changing proctors midway through the test) did not speak to me at all, and only communicated with me through the chat box, which was time consuming, and often resulted in unclear instructions.

All in all, I found ProctorU's interface and customer service left a lot to be desired. I would rather take the GRE in person at a testing center than have to use this poorly designed company again.
