## McGraw-Hill Connect Reviews
  ### 1. So far it has been a terrible experience

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mitchell C. | Retired Air Force, going to school., Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 08, 2025

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

Nothing thus far. I have had nothing but trouble.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

I have taken two classes which utilize Honorlock and it didn't work for either class. It was glitchy during my first class before ultimately not working at all, It ends my session after a few seconds of starting the test, I ended up taking my exams on paper. My second class Honorlock didn't work at all and set me back over a week and counting working with the instructor to figure things out, back to paper on campus. pretty much defeats the purpose of taking an online course. I have exhausted all of their live chat troubleshooting steps, Very limited, nothing worked, I even tried the computer in the library on campus. I sent an email to which they replied they elevated me to their tier II team, whatever that means, but I have yet to hear back from them. In the meantime I'm jumping through hoops trying to schedule tests on campus and falling further behind. I really wish my school had chosen a different proctoring system. Honorlock has been a huge hassle that could potentially result in me having to drop this class which is a prerequisite for the class im taking next semester. This has been a major distraction that has already negatively impacted my grades.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I wish they were helping me solve my problem, but i haven't heard from them.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

  ### 3. The worst education tool I've ever been forced to use

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 19, 2025

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

The first customer service agent I spoke with was extremely professional and competent.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

I'm on day 6 of my MBA course, and after not being able to access the textbook with inclusive access through McGraw Hill Connect until DAY 4 of my course, I'm now on DAY 6 and suddenly receiving "ERROR XXX - RMS USER SYNC ISSUE" errors preventing me from accessing the textbook or quiz entirely.

My quiz is due tonight and this terrible program is directly preventing me from completing my coursework. Not even 1 week in, and I've experienced nothing but issue after issue. If you can avoid using McGraw Hill Connect, do it like your life depends on it. This tool is completely unreliable.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

McGraw-Hill Connect is solving absolutely no problems for me, in fact, it's creating problems. Lots of them.

  ### 4. Great resource, subpar support

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 26, 2024

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

The way the online text books integrate with the hard copy textbooks. The software makes it easy to use both in a way that supplements learning for those who've learned better online and those who learn better in a book. The crossover is just impressive because the software is easy to use in the content is easy to understand and learn.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

There is, unfortunately, a communication disconnection between schools and this publisher. Because textbooks are sold from the bookstore of a school via an access code, McGraw-Hill support cannot assist with things like platform access because they did not directly sell the product to the student. When there is a problem with the system, it becomes very difficult for a student to keep up with classwork when they cannot get technical support from the publisher.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to educate across barriers such as computers, classrooms, and campuses.

  ### 5. Innovative student education supplementing software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** ARVINA . | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2023

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

Connect is a very innovative tool that helps our students in higher classes to give them extra knowledge on their subjects like Maths and Computers. The concepts that are presented in their course structure, are very easy to understand, such that the teaching in classroom is complemented by the courses available on Connect. The concepts are very simplified in the course structure in form of video tutorials with modules like Algebra and Graphs. The material is drilled into the brains so well, that our students have started performing very well after we incorporated Connect. The homework and gradebook features are doing very good for our kids.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

In some videos, the instructors use language that has a little accent to it, which does make it a little difficult to understand for students who are from rural background. Other than that, everything seems to be fine.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

McGraw-Hill Connect is bringing the global standard of education in our school to our students. It is helping our students compound their knowledge base by the course structure being followed by thousands of students and schools across the world. We have seen amazing results for our students who have started using Connect, in a way that they were able to retain information in a far better way after an entire year than the students who did not use Connect at all. We are planning to incorporate Connect in other classes as well now. The best features are of homework and assessment.

  ### 6. McGraw-Hill Connect: Good Learning Platform

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arunkumar K. | Information Security Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2023

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

McGraw-Hill Connect offers a nice digital learning space to read and practice. It uses adaptive learning technology to personalize the learning experience. We can tailor content as per our comfortability and preference. The customization of the contents and delivery make the learning hours easy and likable.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

Users cannot pause and resume certain practice tests when there is a need, you need to finish what you started. Even though it simulates real world test scenarios, during many situations this could a pain in the neck. Another thing is about the technical glitches we endure sometimes.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

While using a hardcover or paper back as primary study resources, McGraw-Hill takes the study experiences to the next level by creating flash cards, quick Q&As and summarizing the concepts. These interactive learning methods kill the boredom and boost the learning hours.

  ### 7. Very accessible and easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Omkar K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2024

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

Very easy to use and seamless integration with canvas. I use it almost daily for my school work.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

Sometimes it shows assignments from previous courses.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it to read through my course textbooks, do assignments and quizes.

  ### 8. Not the most intuitive digital textbook management.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lindsey P. | Technology Coordinator, Primary/Secondary Education, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2023

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

Assigning textbook and resources the teachers is pretty straight forward.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

I find that finding where you need to go to do the action you need to do can be difficult. There seems to be no way to remove students. Creating password for students can be an effort.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Connect for all our middle school digital science curriculum and resources. Our middle school English teacher uses it for it StudySync feature.

  ### 9. McGraw Hill- Very user friendly, simple and straight forward

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim S. | Senior Instructor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 09, 2022

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

I love the variety of activities provided- tests, simulations, homework, quizzes, etc.. I also like that the videos are updated every so often and provide contemporary topics.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

The SmartBook grade goes to 0 when a student completes it pas the due date. That requires me to dig through the Connect gradebook which is hard to follow for these types of assignments.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating tests, homework, simulations- makes my job a lot easier. This saves ions of time and allows me to focus on more important academic matters. When I teach a class in a future term, most of the material is already completed.

  ### 10. Worst piece of software I have ever used

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2023

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

nothing, I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

everything, I constantly get logged out while i'm trying to read the textbook, probably 4 times in the past half hour. Constantly making me close the tab and log in all over again. The user interface is unbearable and it wont let you open another tab to read the texbooks while doing practice questions. It asked my to contact customer support if I experienced any issues only to show me their United States offices and a general support number that would probably push me over the edge if I tried calling.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

only causing me problems

  ### 11. Mc-Graw Hill's connect feature is helpful when integrating with Schoology.

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

The ability to SSO and post assignmetns in Schoology

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

Only works well when using it a very specific way, there is no flexiblity.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps us have a quick SSO in Schoology.

  ### 12. Suitable for Accounting or numbers oriented courses

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Victoria G. | Human Resources Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2023

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

Online quizzes are more convenient to do and submit as opposed to physical quizzes.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

It is expensive. And it makes it difficult for students to buy used textbooks for a better price.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is helping students do online quizzes and submit then easily. You can easily take the quizzes from your home computer and submit them without having to go into the school.

  ### 13. Seemless integration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 12, 2023

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

The support chat feature is awesome and supportive without a bot.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

I do not like having to assign the products to each class rather than it being integrated with the product being automatically assigned to the course name and grade level.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Assessment tools with etext aligning with workbooks.

  ### 14. Love Connect!

  ### 16. McGraw-Hill Connect creates an all-in-one solution to academic learning with meaningful assignments.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian S. | Operations Excellence Change Agent, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2021

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

I like that McGraw-Hill Connect starts with a published textbook and builds around that resource with fully integrated tools. The SmartBook requires students to review the content, and the system dynamically measures retention of core concepts. In addition, there are exams generated directly from the problems in the textbook.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

I would like to see improvement in implementing some of the testing materials. The correct answer range is very restrictive at times especially given that many calculations are multi-step and open to rounding errors.

**Recommendations to others considering McGraw-Hill Connect:**

If you are considering McGraw-Hill, contact the instructor support team and outline your course goals. They will help you choose the textbook and the resources that will meet your needs. They will demo the content with you, and they will provide a demo account so that you can test integration with your existing Learning Management System.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am a remote adjunct professor. My class is designed from the ground up to be 100% remote interaction. McGraw-Hill Connect has all the tools functioning correctly for me to set up the curriculum well in advance and for students to have the flexibility to access their required assigements on their schedule.

  ### 17. Integrating Connect with BrightSpace

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephen G. | Associate Vice President, Curriculum Development, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2022

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

The seamless integration with the interactive text and the assessment and look and feel within BrightSpace is excellent.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

We had issues getting the LTI up and running for the first course we offered using Connect, but once it was set up we offered the course seamlessly on demand for more than two years with zero issues.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using the most current Canadian specific marketing textbooks is very important to our mission, and we are glad to be offering an interactive, on demand course that uses a text from 2021.

  ### 18. Hard to navigate- Texas Integrated Physics and Chemistry

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Deborah R. | Educator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2022

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

Nothing. I have experience as a curriculum developer and as an intake person for reviewing resources. This is one of the worst I've ever seen.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

The website is hard to navigate and not at all intuitive for users. The information on the website is cumbersome and not easily accessed.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None. I attempted to use the chat feature and spent 10 minutes just giving them my information with no support for my simple question.

  ### 19. McGraw-Hill Onnect

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2021

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

Menus are marked clearly and pathways connect in a logical manner. It is very user-friendly and there is significant support provided in both live form and recorded information.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

It is a little bit more complicated to navigate as a teacher when you have multiple grade levels working in the program. You have to filter carefully to avoid confusion when looking for whatever it is you need. I also do not like the "assignments" page because in order to remove an assignment from the page you have to actually inactivate it, although I have learned to do this more efficiently.

**Recommendations to others considering McGraw-Hill Connect:**

Make certain that you go through as much professional support for the program as you can before you begin implementation.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a teacher, I can easily differentiate for struggling learners and ELL students. It also eliminates the need to pull additional resources from elsewhere when teaching the required standards.

  ### 20. McGraw-Hill Connect review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Victor C. | Student, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2022

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

It was user-friendly and allowed me to succeed in the course. It was a challenging course, but the technology helped.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

There were times when I was confused about some of the tools and how to use them. A introduction to use the product would be good when starting to use it.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was able to be more efficient with my work and get more done with Connect. It saved me time, and that was great for me to be more productive.

  ### 21. Very useful and organized. Great Online study tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 07, 2021

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

When using McGrawHill Connect it's so convenient to see upcoming due dates for all classes at the same time.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

I dislike that you cannot filter all assignments by ones that count for grade or don't. That would be a convenient tool for students and administrators to manage time and make sure students are aware of what to do.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've been solving accounting problems as well as other business related problems.

  ### 22. An awful product from a company that has monopolized basic education software

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2022

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

Nothing. This product has never had positives.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

The cost is absurd. With Connect courses hovering in the $130 range what do you get for your money? Couldn't tell you. Connect help contribute to how pitiful university education is.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None. There is no option but to buy the courses, it's forced on you. If there was any alternative I would take that.

  ### 23. WARNING: Avoid McGraw-Hill Connect at all costs! Too many issues, no customer service

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Timothy "TJ" M. | Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 11, 2021

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

In theory, Connect is a great system for tracking students and making sure they attain the concepts from the textbook. In theory, students are able to submit video-recorded speeches. However, in reality, there are problems and glitches that prevent students from being able to use it successfully.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

I regret I have to write this negative review. But I must warn you about using McGraw-Hill and Connect.

I have used a McGraw-Hill textbook for the college speech classes I teach. I was encouraged to transition over to the Connect system. With the Smartbook 2.0, Lucas textbook students can read the textbook anywhere. Students get 2 weeks of free access if they don't have funds right away from the textbook. It is connected to GoReact which allows for video and written feedback in-real time sync with the student's speech video. McGraw-Hill market Connect is a way to better assess if students are understanding the concepts from the textbook through reading questions and quizzes and is a learning management platform where students can submit video-recorded speeches. However, while it works in theory, the system doesn't actually work. Even worse, McGraw-Hill doesn't actually follow-up and fix the issue in a timely manner. I've been waiting for over a month with no resolution.

Week 2 of the course, a student contacts me and says they are unable to submit their speech because it says they have already attempted it and submitted a video. However, they had not. I contact McGraw-Hill asking them to fix this quickly so the student can submit their speech by the deadline. I'm told that McGraw-Hill will need to reset the student's submission attempt before the student can go in. This took a week for them to complete. I ask what cause this issue, no answer.

This has continued for a month, with no help from McGraw-Hill. Additionally, more students have had issues with other assignments saying they submitted a video when they had not. The system is malfunctioning. You would think McGraw-Hill would want to fix this quickly, but they couldn't care less. I'm just a number. They said they could reset the attempts, but to date, I've had 19 students in two different sections who are not able to submit one or more assignments because of this issue - 13 still haven't had attempts reset, so are not able to submit assignments. We are now in Week 8. Six weeks is too long. I contact them every other day, I still do not have the answer. If they can't fix it, I wish they would just tell me. I regret every full-incorporating McGraw-Hill's Connect into my speech courses. While it looks good in theory, the malfunctions of their system, their inability to provide follow-up, and their inability to provide an answer as to why this happens, have left me frustrated and angry.

Students report that the readings take them 4-6 hours to complete. For every speech assignment, one or more students haven't been able to submit their videos because the system says they already have, and when I go into GoReact to watch the video submission, guess what, they don't have a video uploaded.

I have had to find another way for students to submit video-recorded speeches and all my time getting Connect setup was a waste. I was looking forward to continuing with McGraw-Hill; however, after this semester, I encourage you not to use McGraw-Hill or Connect. I am in the process of searching for a similar system because after 3 years with McGraw-Hill, I've decided their incompetence and very poor customer service have caused too many problems to continue giving them my business.

**Recommendations to others considering McGraw-Hill Connect:**

I thought since I had used the Lucas speech textbook for a couple of years that switching to Connect would make teaching and assessment easier. It has made it worse! I was looking forward to continuing with Connect, but with so many issues, I've decided to leave. I recommend you find another system. DO NOT USE MCGRAW-HILL CONNECT. You will regret it like I now do.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No benefits and the problem is still not resolved. Students go to submit their video-recorded speeches and the system says they already have. But they haven't and then go to grade the video submissions, they have no video. McGraw-Hill can't figure out the issue. I still have 13 students who need to submit assignments, who are not able to. The system is malfunctioning. You would think McGraw-Hill would want to fix this quickly, but they couldn't care less. I've been dealing with this issue for over a month, and still no resolution. If I were to do it again, I would not fully-integrate Connect into my courses. Now, because their system malfunctions and they don't respond to my requests to get it fixed or figure out what is wrong, I am left with students having paid for Connect and not being able to use it to submit assignments.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2021

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

I like nothing about it. It could not be more inconvenient.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

Everything. It is literally impossible to simply read the book I'm trying to study. There are so many things to click on that just bring you to basically the same page, but god forbid I just want to read the book like a normal person. I can't believe I spent money on this piece of trash website. If my professor didn't require it I would never use it.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm not solving anything. This site only causes me problems. Zero benefits.

At first, this seems like a nifty application. Homework can be done with direct feedback/access to the text book. It's a great concept!

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

The software is outdated. Inserting answers (I've been using it for chemistry) are convoluted and at times impossible, especially when used for formulas or expressions that include exponents, subscripts, or division. The time I spend trying to get my answers formatted triples the time that I spend actually doing the problems. For a 20 question assignment, I have to set aside a whole afternoon, whereas, had the same assignment been on paper, I would only need 10-20 minutes. The software needs a total revamp in the sciences department. Take away the "tool" box, and allow a free-script application. Cengage's Webassign is a very similar application, same concept regarding feedback/training, and I would strongly advocate it's usage against Mcgraw-Hill Connect.

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

LearnSmart keeps track of topics I master and what I need to improve on. I used their products for a microeconomics course, and the practice problems really enforced what I needed to study more!

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

I can't say I dislike anything about McGraw Hill's products! They even offer individualized reports of what topics and types of questions I need to study more before my exam.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

McGraw Hill's online interactive textbook has made highlighting easy, and a place to store all of my notes in. In the chapter, it even highlights what is important for me to know in the course.

  ### 31. McGraw-Hill Connect is a difficult software to use.

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

I like that coursework can be organized and presented using McGraw-Hill Connect. My students can view assignments, grades, and feedback using Connect.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

The site always seems to have issues running properly for myself and my students. Despite using different browsers and devices, I still experience many glitches.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

McGraw-Hill Connects is beneficial because assignments are readily available and relevant to the course.

  ### 32. Great product that helps teachers monitor and ensure their students are on tract for success.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Frank N. | Assistant Professor of Instruction, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2020

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

The product offers two ways to gain mastery of material.

1. You can read the book and a prompt asks you questions along the way to make sure you are retaining information.

2. You can just take a quiz which adapts to what you know or don't know until mastery is achieved.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

In one of the versions students have a possible work around if they start a chapter before the start date. However, this is fixed in recent versions. So, users of the most recent products should have no issues.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use this product to help get the students into the material and regularly working with it. It stops some students from trying to cram all of the material the night before the exam. It is also a simple way for the students to see what they understand and do not understand. I can also quickly see who thinks they know the material but do not and who really does understand it for targeted interventions.

  ### 33. Okay, but still clunky

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marielle T. | Teacher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2020

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

I like the access of books and materials in one place. It's fairly easy to access from anywhere. Students always have access to their book and can't use the excuse that they forgot their book at home or at school.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

The site is clunky and doesn't look very appealing. It'd be nice if it were more modern looking and visually appealing. Also if it was more seamless in transitions.

**Recommendations to others considering McGraw-Hill Connect:**

If you are already using this publisher's books, this is an acceptable platform to integrate online textbooks. I do think there are better publishers and online resources, but in education we don't always have the ability to choose our curriculum or books. I would of course always shop around to see what your options are. Ask teachers what their needs are. I really like using the online books solely for myself as a teacher. Other teachers might want a software that is more easily accessible to students.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me not to have to have so many files on my computer and I am able to access the book from anywhere to make planning easy. I can share things with students and they don't have to lug a textbook around. They have no excuse for not being able to access their book--they can't forget it at home as they always have their phone!!

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

It said free online tutoring so I waited for a long time to load and once I got in contact with a tutor, they said put in my credit card information to continue. The tutor refused to help until I did so. The tutoring session ended after I failed to do so.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

I didn't have the money to do tutoring and McGraw Hill said, "Free tutoring" so I clicked on it. After waiting 10 minutes to be matched with a tutor, it asked for money in order to start the tutoring session. I contacted McGraw Hill and they brushed me off.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I called McGraw Hill and they brushed me off.

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

I have been taking most of my classes with connect. I enjoyed using it thus far. They need to update it for sure but is it fairly a good company to buy your virtual books from as a student.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

I have contacted the company to request an extension of my temporary trial access both because I had a test due and was furlough at the time (COVID 19). I couldn't afford it. Vanessa, a sweet person, first told me that her manager needs to see my financial aid award letter in order to approve the request. I promptly comply although it was a odd request. I needed to complete the test. After a couple minutes, she replied that students are required to get a "letter of confirmation from the instructor that they are requesting for the extension of the temporary access" during COVID-19. Mind you it was a Friday night and test was due Sunday by 11:59 pm. They failed to give me an extension couple of days where other company such as MindTap has. I am so disappointed.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None

  ### 36. Test bank and powerpoint slides are average to good

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jill M. | Adjunct Professor, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2020

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

I used McGraw Hill for MHR 301 classes at Cal Poly Pomona. The test bank interface is intuitive and easy to create randomized tests for students. Some questions however are still vague so as remedy, I credited scores whenever 75% of students got the answer wrong per post quiz Scantron stats. This seemed the fairest and easiest way to remedy vague or poorly worded questions or multiple choice answers.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

Their powerpoint slides are antiquated and don't seem to update often (only with major revision of textbook). The formatting of the slides is also off and many needed to be re-positioned and updated with recent real world examples prior to lecture.

**Recommendations to others considering McGraw-Hill Connect:**

I used Cengage MindTap for a different class (Computer Proficiency CIS 1010) and was impressed with their software - infinitely better than McGraw-Hill. Their UI for online testing is superior but they lack a physical textbook though that need is disappearing these days.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When you make minor revisions to a textbook just so you can charge students for new materials (and not buyback the previous semester textbooks) professors like me have extra work to keep costs down for the students. We have to sync your digital materials database to the "old" editions to try to save the students from getting ripped off!

  ### 37. I love this software!

**Reviewed by:** Megan H. | Preschool Teacher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2020

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

I love how easy this program is to navigate. It was so easy for me to get the information that I needed quickly. You are able to quiz yourself and keep everything organized. You are able to see the parts of the text that you have already reviewed and what you still need to work on. It was very useful that there is not only the app online that you can use but you also have the ability to download the text to a mobile device. I was also impressed by not having to sign in more than one time! This will keep you signed in on all the platforms that you use. No need to remember your login information.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

Honestly, I had no issues every using this software. I was so pleasantly surprised by everything that it had to offer! I love the accessibility that you have to get the information you need on the go. I can literally be readying my textbooks while I am sitting on the beach. It was so awesome to have support like that. Also, technical support is awesome. Anytime I had a question about how to do something, they were right there with a chat to help me figure it out.

**Recommendations to others considering McGraw-Hill Connect:**

This is definitely the easiest software for any student to use.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have realized that you can sign in from anywhere. This allows me to read my text whether I am home or on the go. With four little kids, this is essential to my success in school. I was also able to take the quizzes and brush up on my skills from the comfort of my home. Without having to figure out what page I was on, even if I closed the app, it picks up right where you left off.

  ### 38. Terrible in every possible way

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2020

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

Nothing. There is nothing to like about this sad excuse for a online learning aid.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

I don't even know where to begin.
Inefficient and redundant assignments and questions. Confusing interface. Time consuming with no gain at all.
I could feel myself wanting to give up as soon as I opened the first "adaptive homework" assignment. The questions are worded so poorly I knew the answer but could not decode the awful execution of the question to get it right. The assignments barely match up to the textbook, and the questions are so nitpicky you'd have to spend 20 minutes searching the different pages to be able to find anything remotely helpful to answering them (and often it would end up incorrect because of the poor wording of the question). I would resort to just clicking and typing and hitting enter in hopes I'd get the answer right and move on a tiny bit. It has often taken me 2+ hours to finish a single assignment, and I've never felt like I learned anything at all by the end of it. In addition, the video lectures are beyond obnoxious and tedious, with questions that barely relate to the content I'm supposed to be learning (just long, tedious busywork in the end). A lot of the information provided in this site is actually quite outdated and, when you already have common knowledge on the subjects, can make the questions provided even more difficult to answer. I cannot believe just how much this program cost me. Such a waste of money, time, and energy. It is just torture for any professor to make their students use this.

**Recommendations to others considering McGraw-Hill Connect:**

DON'T USE THIS

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't even know if any of these problems can be solved. Just let this horrible program die out, please.

  ### 39. McGraw-Hill app is crucial in my 6th grade classroom

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** KATHRYN P. | Classroom Teacher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 26, 2020

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

I love how easy McGraw-Hill connect is to use in the classroom. My students all have Chromebooks and they follow along on the digital platform as I project on the smartboard. At this point it really is essential they can also access all their materials from home which is a huge Plus.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

There is not really anything I dislike about the McGraw-Hill connect although sometimes it takes a little bit to load the pages so if they could do anything maybe just speed up loading of the pages other than that it's excellent.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am solving the problem of not having textbooks in the classroom it really is our solution for students to have access to their textbooks at all times and the benefits are so many but one is that they are so engaged.

  ### 40. Easy-to-navigate textbooks

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Colleen T. | Classroom Tutor and Site Coordinator, Higher Education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2020

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

The iPad app is very user friendly. It is easy to navigate my classes, complete associated assignments, highlight text, make notes,

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

The assignments associated with the text/course can be cumbersome to work with. For example, the answers you may input may be very strict about decimal points or make certain assumptions that were not previously addressed in the problem. The assignments may also use ambiguous wording. In addition, the calendar feature does not seem useful or necessary. On the student or user end, I can't check calendar history by more than 3 months nor input my own entries. The calendar seems strictly for assignment due dates. I didn't personally see a need for that since most instructors have their own ways of reminding students of deadlines and due dates. There are no notifications (that I knew of), and most of my peers also didn't use this feature.

**Recommendations to others considering McGraw-Hill Connect:**

For instructors, make sure the textbooks that are available with McGraw-Hill Connect are good and relevant material. Also make sure the questions are reflective of your course content if you plan to implement them.

For students, if you have a say in which textbook provider you can use, honestly go for what is cheapest. You don't need a ton of bells and whistles – just good material/text that is properly formatted so that it is easy to read.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used McGraw-Hill Connect to view a textbook for a university finance class as well as complete online homework assignments associated with each of the readings we were assigned. It is helpful to work on assignments that are closely related to the text, and it is nice that you can work through the same problem(s) multiple times as well as view the step-by-step process for solving a problem.

  ### 41. Extremely useful source

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashley S. | Adjunct Faculty, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2020

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

There are prebuilt instructor courses that are directly connected to whatever textbook you are using in your classroom. This eliminates uncertainty about if the topic is covered in detail in the book.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

Some of the questions are focused on specific and minor details that students might miss and things that might not necessarily seem important to the instructor. It's very important to review the quizzes before assigning them to make sure that you intend to cover the material in class, or students will get questions about topics that you did not actually discuss, leading to some concern.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One of the problems I have solved is making sure that my quiz questions are fair and balanced. I no longer worry that I might be focusing on details that the book doesn't necessarily support. A benefit of this is making it easier to create classroom material for my classes that use this book, which is extremely helpful since I am teaching multiple subjects across multiple college campuses.

  ### 42. Not User Friendly

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kylee L. | Teacher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 26, 2020

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

McGraw-Hill Connect is a simple online platform to use alongside tangible textbooks. Some districts use ONLY the online-platform, which I imagine is difficult.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

McGraw-Hill Connect is not user friendly. As a teacher, I have had to make a video sharing my screen to show eighth graders how to access the online textbook. Additionally, there are available resources on the platform that I constantly have troubles accessing.

**Recommendations to others considering McGraw-Hill Connect:**

If your district is wanting to purchase this platform as the only way to access textbooks, please consider trialing the platform first to decide if you think it is user friendly.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Again, it is a great to have access to the online textbooks. For upper grade levels, this helps put responsibility on students who "lost" or forgot their textbooks.

  ### 43. Confusing and not organized, has potential but lacks.. have you guys EVER upgraded?

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2020

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

Personally, the only thing I liked was the "idea" of what this could be. You read the description and in theory it sounds effective yet the reality of how it functions is very different than the idea. Let's just say as a student I found this platform not "student friendly" and think they built the platform and never actually made changes to keep up with the changing times.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

I disliked the entirety of this platform and found it to be quite a painful process. They are disorganized in their approach. Example I was just learning about the topic "Hypothesis Tests for a Population Proportion (P-Value Method Using the TI-84 PLUS" the next video (which SHOULD be the exercise video to back up what you just learned followed by TI84 instructional video) is actually a new topic, "Hypothesis Tests for a Population Proportion (Critical value method) followed by the P-value exercise video. As you see, that is counter intuitive to learning a topic to completion. So the videos are weaving back and forth. SUPER ANNOYING AND DISORGANIZED. It should be topic, exercise video, ti84 instructions video. Sadly it is not, hence the disorganization.
Next, in a normal classroom setting, say you are given a question with multiple parts to answer (Ex: question 1. has parts A-E to answer) and you are on section C and realize, "oh, I didn't do part A right", in a normal setting you would fix your mistake. THIS PLATFORM DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO FIX YOUR MISTAKES AND DEDUCTS POINTS FROM YOU. NOT helpful for a student AT ALL. Personally this site could be great, but it is not. And that's too bad. I much prefer Pearson. Sorry to be blunt but I hope you take this as positive criticism and make some much needed changes.
Thanks for the consideration.
- A student

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I think that my "what do you dislike" review states my feelings.

  ### 44. I would not recommend McGraw-Hill to anybody

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 22, 2020

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

The best thing about it is that is is not laggy and buggy

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

I dislike the format, the style, the assignments, the website in general is not good. It is very confusing to use, it does not give you the information you need, it has useless links everywhere. You can not study well on it, you don't have really any info on what someone tells you. The types of test styles are bad and puzzling.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All the problems from the question above. There are no benefits besides my grade in the class will not go down, because of the assignments.

  ### 45. Awful In every way

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** sam a. | Student , Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 18, 2019

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

There was nothing about McGraw Hill Connect that was good in any way. Top to bottom my experience with McGraw Hill Connect was abysmal and I cannot believe this is a tool used in an educational setting.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

Where to begin? McGraw-Hill Connect has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. As a student my education was actually worse off for having used this sorry excuse for an "educational tool". Not only did the readings sometimes present flat out false information based on unsubstantiated claims, it was incredibly un-user friendly. On multiple occasions I tried to turn in an assignment and it would not register. The assessment format also makes no sense. It sometimes asks you the same question multiple times for no reason at all and is incredibly time consuming as a result.

**Recommendations to others considering McGraw-Hill Connect:**

If you are looking for an educational tool I strongly urge you look elsewhere. The best thing to do is let the free market do its thing and let this sorry excuse for a company die a quick agonizing death.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There are no benefits to using McGraw-Hill Connect except one, when you finish using it you feel like you've just been let free from Azkaban. There is no positive to this company. It's confusing, not user friendly in the slightest, and hold no educational benefit at all. Again, the information given to me as a student by the material this company provides made my education worse and I walked away dumber from having used it.

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

Book has some good resources, especially interactive maps.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

Second year I have used it and it will be my last. Constantly having to redistribute the books. Students have the book, and then it mysteriously disappears and I have to give them user name and password. Customer service is apologetic and utterly useless. Today, my lesson planned involved using the textbook in class. None of my kids could access their book because McGraw Hill was doing an update, which they never alerted anyone to. I was told they could not tell me how long it would take but to just keep checking back.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

McGraw Hill has made my work harder. I am so frustrated that I am done.

**What do you like best about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

I like the supplemental material provided to students as well as example questions, exams etc. I also like reading and studying tools. I like that it provides a lot of supplemental material to the textbooks.

**What do you dislike about McGraw-Hill Connect?**

It's very expensive. I teach mostly low-income students and I cannot assign McGraw Hill materials anymore because they cannot afford it.

**Recommendations to others considering McGraw-Hill Connect:**

It provides great supplemental materials but it can be pricey.

**What problems is McGraw-Hill Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I no longer use it. So I'm not solving problems at the moment. But when I did, it offered exam prep for student and supplemental materials that would help with their completion of the course.
