We use the resource planning tool and it is very useful for managing resource allocation, and understanding where our time is going. It is much stronger in the financial aspects of project management than other tools we have used at our agency. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Most of the features and improvements in the tool are designed for resource management and project management teams, but there hasn't been much focus on usability for the workers using the software. Over the years we have been using the tool, I haven't seen much change in the quality of the product in the form of releasing features. In an internet that is very open with APIs, there are not many integrations available natively, which makes it tough to integrate with the increasing quantities of software we use to manage our business. Finally, there is currently no automation in the software, and everything needs to be updated manually to be effective. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
For our team, the best part of Mavenlink is the ability to see an overview of upcoming projects on a timeline that projects resource usage and individual capacity. When doing business development, it helps our team plan for future projects so we are able to best manage our resources.
The platform is also very user friendly, which has led to few barriers to adoption. The notification system is also helpful by allowing employees to get updates on project status on a day-to-day basis, and the timetracking and timesheet system is easy to adopt.
While we don’t currently use 3rd party integrations with Mavenlink, the capabilities to do so are there, which as we grow our company is a great benefit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Initial setup of the platform was cumbersome, particularly for a small company without a team dedicated to this type of operational management.
A desktop version of timetracking would be helpful. While there are 3rd party apps available to do this, they don’t work for SSO users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Master planning's bird's eye view of our team is invaluable. The ability to drag and play the game of tetris with our allocated resources and projects helps us immensely. We can get extremely granular with schedules to make sure our team is working at peak efficiency. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Schedule building. It is clunky and not user friendly at all. The lack of keyboard shortcuts is a pain. The biggest issue I've found is not being able to copy/paste tasks or milestones. This is a huge pain point for us as we are often replicating and reusing schedules differently than would be required in using templates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The user interface is easy enough to pick up without much effort or training. Most of the platform is intuitive and there are a ton of reports and customization that can get you the info you need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The platform can be clunky and it has some latency issues in the timesheets and task tracker view. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Mavenlink is a very powerful tool to manage projects and there are multiple reasons we went for it after throughly analyzing other tools. We have over 850 employees spread out in 15 offices across the globe and Mavenlink is very easy to use thanks to its intuitive interface and all the help tutorials, videos, FAQs, and great live support. Overall, we've been using it for 5 years.
The other positive thing is Mavenlink has many integrations with 3rd party tools like JIRA, Salesforce, and many others. It's a huge plus there's also Mavenlink API for everything else that isn't yet officially supported.
The platform has project templates, Gantt chart, time tracking tools, expense reports, timesheets, invoicing, file storage, collaboration feed, resource planner and all kinds of reports. It is accompanied by very flexible permission management and different rate cards depending on a region. What is also nice, you can invite client users to projects for free.
The notification management is pretty flexible and is done via emails that you can configure in many ways to not get overwhelmed with all the updates (a big plus).
Last but not least, there is a web-optimized mobile app and a browser plug-in to do time tracking and project updates on the go. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
With all the benefits, there are a few minor inconveniences. For example, you cannot select multiple tasks/milestones/deliverables in a project and do a mass-update (i.e. change status or assignees) - you have to go one by one (as of 2020 there was an updated task tracker in beta which will address this). File manager portion could also be expanded and use some permission management, folders, upload requests or sharing links. It doesn't look like Mavenlink supports multiple languages (at least we use English UI across the company and the help portal didn't suggest any language settings per user). Other than that there isn't much to wish for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is so easy to track your time. Also, this is such a simple platform to train new employees. I am able to train employees within 15-30 minutes and they feel extremely confident in using the system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are some features that truly are annoying within Mavenlink. For example, when you run an Analytics report for a specific task for a specific user, it only shows the total amount of time tracked for that task within the time frame selected; BUT it would be even better if it also listed the all of the instances that the time was tracked for that task. When I am checking overages of hours for used sick time (over 24 hours), I have to go back on their time sheet to see when they had their overages. Meaning, if their overage was months ago, I have to continuous go through their timesheets to see when it was. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that I am able to easily track projects, timelines, comments and team threads seamlessly in the same tool in a single dashboard view. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is a not a great deal of comments, best practices advice and discussions in the online forums, so it isn't always easy to find the answer to a frequently asked product question. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The best thing about Mavenlink is that I can see budgets and time entries in real-time. I struggled with our old project management software because it didn't include time tracking. I spent so much time trying to see where we were at on budgets before Mavenlink. Now, I can know in real-time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Really, my only big complaint about Mavenlink is a combination of little things (i.e. - the fact that checklist items don't have to be checked off to mark a task complete, the fact that my task repeater integration has yet to work consistently for longer than 2 months, etc.) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We use the Master Planning resource allocation tool extensively to forecast upcoming resource needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are some nuances to setting up custom reports but the capability is there and our CSM has been helpful in getting us the support we need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The most helpful part of Mavenlink is its ability to keep multiple, concurrent projects organized. When it comes to agency work I often have multiple projects going at once with several different sub-tasks all with different deadlines. Being able to nest tasks under milestone projects and group them together by the client has been a huge benefit to organizing my workload and staying on top of things. The learning curve can be difficult at first as there's a lot to take in and a variety of ways you can sort or view the data you put into the system. It's a matter of finding the views and structures that work well for you but it can be overwhelming for the first few weeks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Using this entirely in the browser rather than having to install an app is great. I also really like how it integrates with email so I can quickly see snapshots of communication on the go. It's quick and AJAX based so that you don't have to reload the page to see changes. It also never logs me out even when I go idle for long periods of time which is unexpected and very convenient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The activity feed can be clunky and cumbersome to navigate. The time entry styling is somewhat aged - the text is small and sometimes there is a lack of visual hierarchy. I don't like how I have to delete the time out of each day for a task before I can delete the entire task row. I would also love a dark mode so I have less eye fatigue, especially since I use this so often throughout the day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The software's basic function is easy to use, and it never breaks or fails or has any weird glitches -- it just works. I can easily see whether time is complete for a given day or week, and I can enter a lot of data about billing relatively efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The search functionality is limited -- I can search past billing entries by project or by keyword, but not by month or by the amount of time billed. Deleting a partially written entry is tricky; you have to click on the trash can and the project and the item in the correct order or the item might not be deleted. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Mavenlink is a great tool to use on projects with multiple stakeholders - it helps centralize everything from updates, communications, and project timelines/details/steps. Additionally, you can do internal time tracking and manage billing/resource utilization as well which is really useful from an admin perspective! Lastly, when working across multiple systems, it's great that Mavenlink integrates with Slack and Salesforce so any updates posted there can update accordingly in the other systems. Adoption can be a bit tough - with very nuanced projects, the project templates can be a bit cumbersome or difficult to track through. The date dependencies and such are also a little less intuitive and may take some time to get used to. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Mavenlink makes good use of GoodData, the reporting engine that powers analytics/ providing the ability to build custom reporting for most data points Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Client logins are not able to see budget info. No project swimlanes. Attachments are a little clunky. Client support team is now able to support with reporting, (this typically requires paid support) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Mavenlink offers a broad range of reporting abilities that permit us to better understand the projects of ours, data resources, portfolios and plans. This has enabled us to identify/adjust our KPI/KRI and also make use of the information we've readily available to better focus on our business strategies. Using Mavenlink, we haven't just improved the business of ours practices, but additionally received valuable information of crucial elements of our business that have been previously isolated. As fresh function becomes available, Mavenlink consistently enhance the platform based on consumer feedback, that is an excellent advantage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We've some small issues with specific features, for instance, the categorisation of terms/indicators in a pair of associations may be a little more transparent and it will be advisable to add comments to certain products when approving/deleting proposals than comments to other items. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Fairly user friendly with how it works and the functionality of being able to track where a project is at, budget, and communicate with your team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's really robust and has a lot of features that can take a lot of time to learn. A lot of the pieces do take time to get used to as well if you're not used to using a project management software or tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Easy visibility of all available resources and project tracking allows us to manager the day to day operations of our PS organization. I also really like the customization of the insights reports. Although a large learning curve, there is a wide range that can be done with report/dashboard visualization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Amount of time balancing Master Planner and Resource Scheduler. It would be better if they could be combined somehow to run multiple project on one page but also be able to select individual tasks as well. Right now we have the choice of doing either the master planner or resource scheduler and doing both is time consuming so we chose one option. However, master planner allocations do not connect to tasks when they should. If resources were allocated to a project and a PM could select a task all from the master planner it would be significantly easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Its pretty intuitive to use. The comment board is really helpful, and so is the time tracking tool. I use those items the most and never have any issues with them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
None. No dislikes about mavenlink to express here. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the status, priority types they have, and emails they send out as reminders. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are things that are not as intuitive. Simple things like deleting comments on a project don't work. The activity feed only shows certain things, not most recent activities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
