## MATLAB Reviews
  ### 1. MATLAB for postprocessing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** SACHIN G. | Senior Research And Development Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2023

**What do you like best about MATLAB?**

I like as it is easy to understand and learn. Its syntax is designed to be intuitive and user-friendly, making it accessible to beginners and experts alike.

**What do you dislike about MATLAB?**

Needs to look for syntax while coding and require practice.

**What problems is MATLAB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used MATLAB to postprocessing big data from the engine's experiments. Further, I developed an artificial neural network model to predict engine performance and emission characteristics.

  ### 2. A Great productivity tool for researchers and AI developers with a few limitations

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohammed M. | Subject Matter Expert, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2023

**What do you like best about MATLAB?**

It is beginner friendly and easy to use. Coming from someone who used to work using C and C++, MATLAB was surprisingly easy to adapt due to its simple syntax and abundant availability of code examples. It has a lot of inbuilt libraries for several applications like running simulations, math libraries, machine learning libraries, etc...

**What do you dislike about MATLAB?**

It is not free to use; unlike most other beginner-friendly programming languages like Python which are free and open source, MATLAB requires a subscription for personal use. When I was in college, I had a student account that was free, but then I had to pay to use MATLAB for useful applications. There are basic versions and online VMs but for production, these cannot be used.
Apart from that, I felt using MATLAB is difficult when the device runs on a lower-end processor, this was the case for me in college, but now having a good pc did make a difference, but I've always felt the hardware dependence reduces production efficiency.

**What problems is MATLAB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

While other programming languages rely on communities and user-base for practices and solving doubts, the Mathworks training services offer free, high-quality courses to familiarize domain-specific libraries. For example, I was able to seamlessly transfer some of my python code on a machine learning project into MATLAB for quick sampling with ease, thanks to the Machine Learning Onramp course they offered. If this were any other language, it'd take me a lot of time to get myself familiar with the libraries and syntax.

  ### 3. The Ultimate Companion for Computer Science Studies

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Saumya D. | Student, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2023

**What do you like best about MATLAB?**

The best thing about MATLAB is its apps, which help me do long and tedious tasks instantly. From Fuzzy logic designer to Signal Analyzer, most apps have helped me do my studies quickly without coding extensively for them.

**What do you dislike about MATLAB?**

While it is a powerful tool, the pricing is a bit too much for a student who is already spending too much on their study. I would like it if the prices were a bit low and they provided some app features for free.

**What problems is MATLAB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am doing my Master's in Computer Science right now, so MATLAB comes in handy almost daily. I use it frequently to visualize databases and do operations on them. I also use it for machine learning codes and algorithms to train models.

  ### 4. Always a satisfying experience (except when I forget how to code :-) )

Mathematical operations and matrix operations become quite simple and aid in streamlining labour and research.

**What do you dislike about MATLAB?**

MATLAB is a robust tool, but compared to something like Python, its cost prevents it from becoming a standard in business (even if they have different uses, which overlap a bit). People are likely extremely accustomed to writing code in Python, thus I find it unpleasant that when switching between the two, the syntax is enough different. It is compensated. It costs a lot, therefore you'll need a licence from your employer or school to utilise it. It uses a lot of RAM and is really large. If you're building such a large piece of software, at the very least add autocomplete or some IDE-like tools to the editor to make it more user-friendly. Given that it demands

**What problems is MATLAB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used MATLAB to tackle a lot of computational issues. I mostly utilised its graphing for data visualisation and analysis, which is undoubtedly quite helpful.
