I appreciate that it allows me to convert existing MS Word documents to Google Docs and create professional-looking documents with accurate mathematical notation. I really like the extensive palette of math notation and symbols because I have access to all of the symbols I need for the high school math classes I teach. Also, the initial setup of MathType was easy. **What do you dislike about MathType?** I don't like the look of "tall" equations/expressions in Google Docs. Adding a 1/2 in front of a variable makes the whole expression taller and it is no longer inserted "in line." I've also noticed this with integrals. When I want to include these types of expressions in a numbered list, the numbers no longer align with the center of the MathType item. **What problems is MathType solving and how is that benefiting you?** MathType allows me to convert MS Word documents to Google Docs, and create professional documents with accurate notation. It is great for worksheets, guided notes, and other classroom activities and lessons. The most convenient feature is being able to copy and paste math equations and save them as images. I use this to put together review games, warm-up activities and quizzes in my classroom. It has all the symbols I need for my lessons. I love that you can also change the size and font color, which makes it easier for me to customize lessons and materials. **What do you dislike about MathType?** Most of the time Math Type fits all my needs, although I do wish that I could add a space easily. Sometimes I want multiple equations side by side but spaced out, or I want to add text right away. There are some features of it I still have not figured out how to use. **What problems is MathType solving and how is that benefiting you?** It has made creating classroom materials much simpler and easier to understand for my students. Without Mathtype it is really hard to write mathematical equations. Coming from primarily using word, this was a stressbuster and I wish I found out about it earlier. Especially for things like formatting, this is amazing. **What do you dislike about MathType?** formatting for things like matrices and other complex issues can be difficult. Or more time consuming but this is the best option there is so it is pretty good. **Recommendations to others considering MathType:** It takes some time to get used to but stick with it. I also think some sort of thing so that you dont have to constantly transfer back and forth bteween word and mathtype would be better. I believe latex has that ability but it is much more difficult to get used to so if this was integrated into word/pages, it would be much better and more user friendly. **What problems is MathType solving and how is that benefiting you?** typing papers, making notes & outlines for documentation and guidance for future employees. It is a quicker way to type mathematical expressions and is fairly easy to organize within a document instead of having to deal with spacing issues ### 11. Typing mathematical equation can be tiresome but with MathType it has become more easier. ### 12. All of it is available with relatively minimal clicking/searching. **What do you dislike about MathType?** It's definitely not the best looking software I have seen. Also, it would have been great to have the freedom to pick my own categories for things since many functions are not located where I would have put them. **Recommendations to others considering MathType:** Look for a trial first. I have coworkers that were very frustrated with the setup (but they regularly complain). Just be sure it is working the way you need it to. I do believe it worked well for me. **What problems is MathType solving and how is that benefiting you?** When needing to create problems or formulas, it has helped me create them to include in notes, worksheets, handouts, assignments and assessments. I have tried other products, and this one worked very well. ### 14. It is good for visualization purposes when I want to get certain equations on the screen and it does it in an easy to learn and efficient manner. **What do you dislike about MathType?** Sometimes the buttons are a bit faulty and then the program needs to be refreshed which gets rid of the initial equation, but that rarely happens. **Recommendations to others considering MathType:** It is good for academic papers and reports as well if you want equations to appear in your screen. In addition it can be easily taught to even beginners and because it is an Office product it has high quality performance too. It constantly has upgrades so you do not have to worry about its status and as for variety, the equation editor has it all. Insertion has all the Math symbols necessary and the equations are all there too. You can use it in all subjects such as Chemistry, Algebra, or even college level work and it is good for those who have handwritten work but want to have it online as well. **What problems is MathType solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is good for connecting many subjects together and it is a good teaching skill as well. The new version 5 focuses on some web capabilities that provide what is, for now, the smoothest and most elegant way to display math on the web. For anyone else, especially those creating mathematical documents in Word or producing mathematically rich web pages, MathType is an essential tool. The lifetime technical support is also great. MathType is also a treasure that lets me make and edit custom quizzes, tests, worksheets. I also use it in typesetting mathematical formulas in PowerPoint talks for research presentations. I am extremely impressed with the results. It converts to many formats for using it on othe softwares. I consider it to be the easiest-to-use math typing tool on the market, and with professional appearance. Overall I am very happy with it. **What do you dislike about MathType?** A bit difficult to understand the arrangement of the symbols. Use of ctrl along with the spacebar hinders the typing speed. Matrices have over-extended brackets -- makes it look like there are extra blank rows. This gives a chance to the teachers to be over the table creative and data driven and makes work easy for them. **What do you dislike about MathType?** It kepps disabling sometimes and goes blank and you just loose all your data at once. It is also showing compatibility issues with other operation systems. I previously used to rely on Word Equations, but ever since I switched to MathType, inserting and formatting equations has been really easy and straightforward. The software is very intuitive especially for users familiar with LaTex **What do you dislike about MathType?** Nothing per se. I use MathType very often and really like it. I guess the one downside could be that MathType requires familiarity with TeX formatting, but for experienced researchers, it is truly great. **Recommendations to others considering MathType:** I would recommend having prior knowledge of how to format equations in LaTex or other professional formatting platforms (such as Mathematica). This works well if you are in school or if you need to create mathematical formulas for calculus or advanced functions. Use is to make the equations on your homework or papers look organized and professional. **What do you dislike about MathType?** The system could be a little slow to use. Mathtype requires you to select each individual element usually, minus the few shortcuts on your keyboard. There should be more customization to the functions you use often so that it is easier to type it out. **What problems is MathType solving and how is that benefiting you?** Used MathType to add equations into a textbook that we were helping publish.
